Chapter 112
CAROLINE was looking around as she felt conscious with the body heat next to her. She never encountered someone that would like to put his hands on her body as much as her husband, Viscount Danial Cutler.
She was greeting the guests that were coming to their reception with Danial as she was smiling when Danial was introducing her to his friends, relatives, and families. And Caroline learned that her husband was a very influential man when she was greeting his friends from the Higher Court.
“My dear, this is Niklaus Dragomir and his wife, Rebecca, Duke, and Duchess of Belikov. They are also related to the queen Arabella,” Danial said as he turned to look at her. One thing that Caroline noticed, her husband loved to look at her face as if she would disappear if he did not.
Maybe I will, she mused before she was smiling at the duke and the duchess that were standing in front of her so regally. They might be the next royal couple if anything happened to queen Arabella. Not that she wished it to happen to the young queen. She has gone through so much that Caroline felt for her.
“How do you do, my lord, my lady,” Caroline said before she was curtsying to them. The duchess held out her hand and gripped Caroline’s.
“I am so glad to finally meet you. Danial here is being secretive that the next we received a mail from him, it was a wedding invitation to Stonelockteco,” the duchess said as Danial was smirking at the couple.
“Well, I don’t want anyone to get her away from me,” Danial said before he turned to look at Caroline as she turned to face him. She felt warm at the statement.
“Oh, enough with the dramatics. You never wanted to get married but then you met her. I must say, I think our queen was involved with this match make,” the man with yellow eyes and a blonde woman by his side said as they were approaching them.
“Shut up, Ian. No one wants to know your opinion,” Danial said but the man, Ian, was just laughed at his notion.
“Say whatever you want, Dan but you know it is true,” Ian said before the blonde woman was greeting Caroline.
“Hi, I’m Emily. Please ignore my husband as he can be emotionally unstable sometimes,” Emily said as she was hugging Caroline. She was not used to this kind of greeting before the duchess sensed her discomfort.
“Em, I think you need to keep it down a notch,” the duchess said before Emily laughed at her statement.
“Come on, Becca. You know me. I don’t do small. I either go big or go home,” Emily said before she was hugging the duchess. By the looks of it, they were friends as Emily called her by her name.
Nickname to be exact.
“Hey guys,” someone else was approaching the group and when Caroline turned to look, it was the Earl of Raine with his wife. I think her name is Jessica, Caroline mused when a redhead with a black-haired man with peculiar violet eyes were approaching them.
“Jessie!” the duchess and Emily were greeting her before Caroline felt like she wanted to hide in the shadows. Clearly, she did not belong here.
“Welcome to the family, Caroline. Can I call you Caroline or would Carol be better?” Jessie asked the duchess and Emily before they pulled her to their group.
“We have to take her away for a moment, gentlemen. Ladies talk.” Becca said before her husband was smirking at her.
“Don’t do anything that made her run away, my love,” Niklaus said before Becca was batting her eyelashes at her husband.
“Who said anything about that?” Becca said before they were off to get some refreshment before settling down at a table to get to know each other better.
ARABELLA was sipping on her blood-laced tea before someone was knocking on her bedchamber. She was sitting by the fireplace before she was putting her tea down and get to the door to unlock it. When she opened it, it was her trusted butler.
“A telegram for you, my queen,” the butler said before Arabella took it and dismissed him. The old butler bowed before he disappeared through the shadows that covered the hallways. Arabella tore the telegram before reading the content. She smiled.
“And what are you smiling about in the middle of the evening, my love?” Aiden asked when Arabella turned to look at him, he was leaning against the bathroom doorframe with water dripping from his hair.
He just got out of the shower and Arabella can hardly think of anything right now. Aiden smirked when he was walking toward her, knowing that she was showing her desire on her face right now. Arabella bet that her eyes were black right now.
“What is it saying?” Aiden asked her before Arabella was blinking her eyes. Hard.
“What?”
“What is the telegram telling you that you can hardly look away from me, my love?” Aiden teased her before she rolled her eyes. Then, she gave the telegram to Aiden and the prince consort read it.
“Well, I thought I never see the day of this telegram coming to us,” he said before Arabella was nodding.
“We have Lucien to thank then. He was the one that came up with the plan after all,” Arabella said before Aiden was throwing the telegram away and scooped Arabella into his arms. She shrieked before she was looking at her husband.
“Enough about the kingdom. I think I want my wife now,” Aiden said before she was arching her eyebrow at her husband.
“Oh? And why is that?” she teased before she saw the blackness in his eyes. She can sense that it was doing the same thing to her eyes.
“Because it is overdue for my private time with her,” Aiden whispered before he carried Arabella to tumble between the sheets. The telegram was forgotten until they satisfied their cravings with each other.
CAROLINE was sitting next to the duchess, the marchioness, and across the countess that just introduced themselves to her since she was to be the wife of their husband’s friends. She noticed that all of them were wearing a choker to their neck like some kind of a necklace?
Or was it for a different purpose?
“So, Caroline,” Jessie asked her as she was sipping on the wine before Jessie smiled at her, “What do you think of your husband? I hope he was not that bad, right? Or trap you into this marriage?” she whispered the last part that Caroline has to lean into her to hear it.
“Well, he is nice and he did not do anything that might cause my father to have an ire with him,” Caroline said before Becca was smirking at her.
“If your husband was trying to get on your skin, just ignore him. My husband did the same when he was not used to getting anything his way and I just tamed him,’ the duchess said as Caroline was blushing when she said that word.
Tamed? As in having sex with him?
Caroline shivered when she thought of her wedding night after the reception later on.
“Oh, don’t scare her away, Becca. You always have been dramatic when it comes to Niklaus and look how happy you guys are,” Emily said before she turned to look at Caroline with her gentle brown orbs.
“It’s fine, Caroline. The lords of the Higher Court might look like they were unapproachable and not having a soul, but trust when I say this. Your husband cares for you and if you show that you trust him. It will be much sweeter,” she said as she was smiling with her all-knowing eyes looking at her. Caroline nodded as she was smiling at the trio.
“Thank you for the advice but I think I can handle my husband. It’s not like he has a dark secret or anything right?” Caroline said before the trio was glancing at each other. Caroline smiled before the duchess smiled at her.
“Of course, dear. Whatever you say. Shall we get some refreshments? I am famished,” Becca said before they all went to look for some food. Caroline joined the little group and when she was crossing the ballroom to look for some food, she made eye contact with her husband and Dan was smiling at her with all the gentleness that he can muster.
Caroline blushed before she walked away, wondering why her husband was looking at her like she was prey.
“DANIAL, I think you need to stop looking at your wife like you want to devour her in the middle of the dance floor. I don’t think everyone would appreciate it,” Niklaus said before Ian snickered.
“More like ogling his wife,” he said before Dan was rolling his eyes at the marquis.
“Shut up. It’s not like you don’t want to devour your wife as well,” Dan said before Tom was chuckling lowly at him.
“Well, you would never know how it feels like to be away from your bride just a second yet but I think you will understand later on,” Tom said before Dan was glaring at the trio. They were smirking before he sighed.
“I don’t even know why I invite you guys here anyway,” Dan mumbled before Ian was draping his arm on his shoulder.
“That’s because you want to share your happy day with us and we would come anyway with or without the invitation anyway,” Ian said as Dan was closing his eyes.
Just let this be done already, Dan mused before he remembered that later, he would be alone with his wife.
In a room that provoked him to claim her on their wedding night.
Bloody hell!
