Chapter 93

JESSIE startled when she was feeling the warmth that was coming at her face. When she opened her eyes, she was staring at the fire that was lighting up the cave as she was looking at the man that was grilling some fish over the fire.
“Oh good, you’re up. Here, the dinner’s almost ready,” Tom said as she was looking at his expert fingers handling the fish grilling and her stomach growled. Now, she wanted the ground to swallow her as Tom was chuckling at her.
“Easy now, you can have more of the fish if you want,” Tom said as she was looking at him. Tom has gathered some leaves to put the fish on before he was serving it to her. She was looking at the fish before Tom was biting onto the fish as well.
“You still can eat human food?” Jessie as before Tom was looking at her. He swallowed before he was smiling at her.
“Why yes. We can eat human food as long as we have blood in our system. The blood that we get can help to digest the food,” Tom said as Jessie was nodding at him. She bit into the fish as well as the fire crackled between them.
There was silence between them but a comfortable one that Jessie did not want to break them when the night come as they have to get moving again.

ARABELLA was looking outside the window as the dawn was settling in. The sun will be up and she did not hear the news of the earl back at his estate again.
“You still up?” Aiden asked her as she was on the edge of the bed with the blanket around her body. They have been going on for 5 times now on the bed as Aiden showed her how she wanted to be pleased. Her husband obliged as she was replying the same favor for him as well. Arabella was glancing at her husband over her shoulder as Aiden was sitting behind her and kissed her bare shoulder.
“I’m worried. Tom should be home by now but instead, we got nothing at all,” Arabella said as Aiden was shushing her.
“Shh, do not think about it, my love. I’m sure they will be safe. Besides, Tom can protect himself and his companion,” Aiden said as Arabella sighed. The young queen turned to look at her husband as she smiled weakly.
“You’re right. If anything, Tom can handle it. I don’t know why I was being dramatic. It’s must be the mood swing,” Arabella said as she was looking at Aiden. The prince consort arched his eyebrow before he smiled.
“Come now. We have to sleep. We have been pleasuring each other nonstop these days,” Aiden joked before Arabella was smacking his chest playfully.
“You’re the one with the sinful body,’’ she said as Aiden smiled.
“And you’re the one with the insatiable appetite,” Aiden said before Arabella was straddling his laps. The prince consort laughed before the young queen was kissing his lips. They were tumbling back on the bed as low moans and pants were filling the royal bedchamber.

TOM was getting ready for their departure as he was looking at Jessie’s sleeping form. She was sleeping on the cold ground with her hands under her cheeks before her face was tormented with something.
“No, don’t do it. Please,” she whispered as Tom went to her side. He was shaking her as she was tossing and turning before Tom was gripping her arms.
“Jessie, wake up. Jessie!” Tom said before her eyes were popped open and Tom was sucking in the breath as they were staring at each other. The blue orbs were looking into his uncanny violet ones.
“Huh? What? What happened?” Jessie asked Tom as she was looking around the cave. Tom was sighing when he can see the tiredness in her eyes.
She did not get enough sleep apparently, Tom mused before he was smiling at her.
“No, we have to move now. The sun is setting and we don’t want to waste any more time,” Tom said as Jessie nodded at him.
He went to help Jessie onto her feet before they were standing in front of each other. Jessie looked at him and Tom was looking at her delicate lips.
I wanted to taste it, he thought before he was clearing his throat. Jessie smiled at him before they were moving out of the cave and they were looking at the dusk that has settled.
“Let’s go,” Tom said as he went ahead with Jessie walked beside him. He was on the constant lookout as he wanted to make sure that they were safe.
And because Jessie’s scent and blood were closed to him that he was ready to go crazy.
Tom breathed in and out before he was looking at the approaching vehicles. He wanted to make a sign to hitchhike them but he did not want for them to be inside a carriage that might have been stolen by the bandits.
Bandits, he hated that word.
Tom was making sure that Jessie was behind him as the carriage was passing through them before he was looking at the crest that the carriage bear. It was a Griffin and instantly he knew that Ian must be inside the carriage.
Then, he stopped the carriage as he was standing in front of the horses. The horses neighed before the coachman was pulling the lead line as the horses halted. There was a commotion going on inside the carriage before the coachman was yelling at him.
“Get off the road, you scum!” He shouted before Tom was controlling his anger. If he knew that he was talking to a peer of the realm, he would not dare to match his eyes to stare.
“What’s going on out there?” The marquess said before his head was out of the carriage. Tom was stepping to the side before he was grinning from ear to ear as Ian was groaning before he went inside the carriage again.
Tom was sure that he would be cursing by now.
The carriage was opened before Ian was stepping out of the carriage before making his way to Tom. The earl was waiting for him to recognize him before Ian was pulling at his hat.
“I know it’s you, Tom. Just stop acting as if you’re a scum already,” Ian said before Tom was smiling at his friend. He was looking at him before he was trying to make sure that the coachman was paling at the sight.
“My lord,” the coachman greeted him as he was bowing at Tom. Tom smirked before he was looking at the marquess before he was hugging him.
“How are you, my friend?” Tom asked before there was a rustle of skirts behind them before he turned to look at the marchioness. Then, she gasped.
“Jessie?” She said before Tom was focusing on his travel companion.
“Lady Jessie Cole? Why are you dressing up like that?” The marchioness said as Tom was looking at Jessie. She smiled before she was curtsying to the marchioness.
“How are you doing, Mila—“
“Don’t you dare? We’re friends. You can call me Emily,” the marchioness said before she was hugging her. Tom blinked before a question was coming into his mind.
How could a peasant know a marchioness if they have different social status? Tom thought before he was looking at Emily and Jessie. He thinks there would be more to the secret life of Jessie that he was willing to uncover.
Who you really are, Jessie? He mused as Jessie was smiling weakly at the marchioness, knowing that her secret has been out in public.

DEAR Lord, why do I have to encounter them now? Jessie mused to herself as Tom, Emily, and Ian, Marquess of Kain as well as herself were traveling in the carriage. She did not know that the Hassildor will be going to the coastal city as well for an invitation by the young queen Arabella.
Emily was smiling at her before she was talking about her new life. It has been 2 months since they met at the dinner and reception before Jessie was tucked away in her estate, drowning in books and researches for her books.
And right now, she was on the journey to uncover the secret of the gentry.
Jessie was looking at the marquess who was talking, more like whispering with Tom as they would stare at each other before talking again. If anything, Jessie would guess that Tom was trying to get rid of her.
Then, Emily was whispering to her as she was leaning toward Jessie.
“I can see that the earl has taken your fancy,” Emily whispered that made Jessie turned to look at her. She arched her eyebrow at Emily before the marchioness smiled.
“What?”
“You did not notice?” Emily asked her as she was shaking her head. Emily chuckled before she was patting her hands.
“You will. Soon,” she said before Jessie noticed that she was adorning the black choker on her neck. She wanted to ask Emily about it before the carriage stopped.
“We have arrived at the Towngasp, milords, and miladies,” the coachman said as Tom was sighing.
“Finally,” he said before he was looking at the village on the outskirt of his region. Then, Ian smiled before he was whispering something to Tom that made Jessie wondered, what they were talking about.
