Chapter 97
JESSIE blinked her eyes as she was looking at the sunlight that was coming into the room. Wait, she did not remember that she walked to a room last night and this is not her room, this is...
"I see that you finally awake, wife. I thought I might have to do something drastic to wake you up," Tom's voice was coming from the edge of the bed as Jessie was looking at him. He was sitting on the chair that was facing her as he was sipping on the tea that he held in his hand. He smacked his lips before he turned his violet orbs to her.
The orbs that she wanted to get lost into.
Jessie looked at herself as she was left in chemise. She did not remember that she was changing her gown last night before Tom was looking at her as she was staring at him.
"I did not undo your gown, your ladies maid did it, in case you're wondering," Tom said as Jessie was looking at him.
"I did not ask about it,"
"But you did think about it," he said before he was getting up from the chair that he sat on. He was getting ready to go out with his immaculate waistcoat and breeches that were black. He looked devilishly handsome.
He would be that way anyway, he was a Vampyre, remember, her mind reminded her as Jessie was clearing her throat. She slept most of the day that the dusk was setting as the sun was on the horizon.
"Are you going out?" She asked her husband as Tom was adjusting his cuff links.
"Yes, there was a meeting for the Higher Court. Queen Arabella expected us to be there," he said as Jessie nodded at him. Tom turned to look at her before he smiled.
"Get ready, your breakfast will be cold if you're late. I was just about to get going but you woke up on time. I just wanted to say goodbye before I go to court. Do not wait for me," Tom said as Jessie nodded at him. Her husband nodded before left her alone in the bed that Jessie was sure that she slept alone last night.
ARABELLA was looking at the earl that was staring into space as the meeting was still going on. It was not right for her to ask the newlyweds to cut short their honeymoon when she knows personally that Tom would like to spend some time with his wife in bed, doing the only thing that can secure his lineage at this time.
"Your Highness?" Ian asked her as she was snapped back to reality. Aiden looked at her before she smiled at Ian and she was looking at her trusted council.
"I believe that will be all for today. We will pick this up later on when we have more information from the Baron," she said before the lords were looking at her. Particularly Dan.
"If I may speak frankly, my queen..." Arabella held up her hand to stop Dan from going any further.
"I know what you're going to ask, my lord. And I will not be giving that information to you. Your cousin is alive, that I can assure you. Nothing has happened to him for now," she said before Dan was narrowing his eyes at her.
"Are you saying that he might be in danger in the future, my queen?" He asked before Arabella was looking at him.
"Do, I don't think that the baron will be in any danger. If anything, he was the best in the field if I have to remind you again of what he was capable of," Arabella said before her cousin, Niklaus, was clearing his throat.
"Well, we can pick this up another time then. I am sure that the earl was eager to go home and meet his wife again," he said as the earl was glaring at the duke. Niklaus smirked before Tom was rolling his eyes at him.
"Okay, the court dismissed. If anything, I hope you guys will be keeping in touch," Arabella said before her trusted court adjourned.
"Are you sure about this, my love? I don't think that keeping the information about his cousin will make Dan quiet. He's stubborn that way, just like Marsh," Aiden said as Arabella was looking at the retreating carriage of the count as well as the earl and the marquess. Only Niklaus and his wife, Becca, were staying at the estate with the royal couple.
Arabella turned to look at the prince consort before she was caressing his cheek. Aiden leaned into that touch before his eyes were turning black. Arabella smirked.
"I think we have other problems at our hands right now," Arabella said as she was looking at her handsome prince. Aiden smirked as he was drawing his queen into his arms.
"And that would be what, my queen?" He said as he was kissing her neck. Arabella arched her back before she was angling her neck to be exposed to Aiden's wet kisses.
"Oh, I don't know. Perhaps someone's thirsty for something," Arabella said as she was untying her lace on the corset. Then, she was pulling it off her body as she was in her chemise now. The day was approaching fast as the royal couple was in their darkened room. Aiden smirked as he was pulling his shirt over his head as his hard chest was staring at Arabella. She licked her lower lips.
"I think someone was eager as I am, my love," he said before Aiden pulled Arabella for a kiss. It was passionate and full of promises. Promises that Arabella knows she will be satisfied with her husband. Again and again, until the day was over.
"Now, shall we get to the bed now?" The prince asked before he scooped his queen into his arms before she wrapped her legs around his torso.
"You know we can hardly wait for the bed," she said as she was smiling teasingly at the prince consort. Aiden chuckled wickedly before he was making his way to the bed across the room.
"Well, I can always last longer," he said before dumping his wife onto the bed and joined her between the sheets as the day was approaching dusk.
JESSIE was looking at the book that she was reading for her new research about the gentry of the island when the butler was knocking on the door before she looked up to him. She closed the book as she was smiling at the butler.
"Madame, there are some people here to see you," he said as Jessie closed the History of Niapachad Island book before she got up from the divan.
"Who was it?" She asked before her visitors were coming across the room. Emily was looking at her before she recognized the other person.
It was the duchess of Belikov, Lady Rebecca Dragomir.
"Hello, my dear. We thought that we can stop by to say hello and congratulate you on your wedding," Emily said before Jessie nodded at the butler that shd will entertain the guests as he went to get the tea going for them.
"Of course, come on in, my dears. I'm sorry that I am not preparing the tea right away. You did not tell me that you wanted to visit. I could have that tea and scones ready for you," Jessie said before she went to kiss Emily's cheeks before she curtsied to the duchess. Becca laughed before Jessie was smiling at her.
"Don't feel like I am out of your league. Besides, Emily is my friend and when you're her friend, you are my friend as well," the duchess said as Jessie smiled at her.
"Thank you, duchess," she replied before the duchess smiled at her.
"Just call me Becca," the duchess said before they went to the divan and took their seats as they were waiting for the butler to come and serve the tea and scones for them.
It was not that long when the butler knocked into the drawing-room before he bowed to all of them. He put the tea on the tea on the table before he was setting up the cups and the scones for them. Jessie was smiling at Emily and Becca before the butler was asking some bizarre questions for them.
"Would you like some pint in the tea, Your Grace?" He said as Becca nodded.
"Thank you," she said as Emily was asking for two pints.
"Make mine two, thank you," she said as the butler was smiling at the marchioness.
"Of course, my lady," he said before he was putting two pints in one cup and one pint in one cup. Then, the butler gave it to the duchess and the marchioness. They thanked him.
"And here's your tea, madame," the butler said to Jessie as she took it while smiling st her employee. Then, the butler left them.
"You don't take a pint, Jessie?" Becca asked her as Jessie was blinking her eyes at the duchess. She did not know what was the pint meant to them but from the looks of it, it was something that Jessie did not share with them.
"What's a pint?" She asked Becca before Emily was looking at her as well. Then, the marchioness was putting her cup down.
"You did not know what was in the pint?" Emily asked her before Jessie shook her head.
"Oh dear, I think Tom did not do it yet. We have come at bad timing, Becca," Emily said as Jessie was looking at them both.
"Do what?" Jessie asked before she was looking at the duchess and the marchioness. Becca and Emily were looking at each other before she stared at them.
"Well, are you going to tell me or not?" She said as Becca and Emily were looking at her. Becca cleared her throat before she was smiling at Jessie.
"My dear, when you get married, do you know your husband? Who he was?" Becca asked Jessie as she blinked her eyes.
"That he's a Vampyre? Of course. If not, I would have not married him," Jessie said as the duchess was smiling at her.
"Then, you know that he will have to claim you at some point but I think it will be best if you ask your husband about that," Becca said as she turned to look at Emily. The marchioness smiled at Jessie.
"Besides, we don't want to intervene. It is best if you ask your husband about it," Emily said before Jessie was looking at them. She smiled before she sipped on her tea.
"Of course, I will a word with Tom later," she said, thinking of thousand ways to kill the earl in his sleep.
How dare you trick me, Thomas Rambova, but no matter, I will have my revenge, Jessie mused as she smiled at the duchess and the marchioness, not knowing that the countess was taking revenge on her husband right now.
