Chapter 92

JESSIE was smiling as she was looking at the night sky of the island. The stars were glistening on the sky like diamonds before she sighed. Then, she turned to look at the man that has saved her life from the bandits.
Tom, what an unusual name, Jessie mused as she was taking in the side profile of the man. Tom was lean and muscular as she was walking beside him when they were making their way to the coastal city. It was unnerving before she was looking at his face.
His jaws were angular and sharp. His nose was straight, aristocratic as she knew he was a lord by birth. Then, his long lashes were hitting his cheeks when he was closing his eyes before Tom was turning to look at her. He arched his eyebrow.
“What are you doing?” He asked Jessie as she was blinking at him.
“Nothing, milord,” she said before Tom sighed. Jessie arched her eyebrow as Tom was regarding her.
“Can you not call me ‘milord’? We’re in the middle out of nowhere and I don’t want the bandits to attack us when they know I am a lord,” Tom said as Jessie shook.
“Of course, mi—“ Tom glared at her before she cleared her throat, “I mean, Tom. Of course, Tom,” she said before he nodded at her.
“Come on, we don’t have much time before we arrived in the city—urgh!” Tom grunted before he was succumbing to the ground. Jessie went to his side before he was grunting as Tom was closing his eyes and breathing hard.
“Tom, are you okay?” Jessie asked and before she could come any closer, Tom was shaking his head.
“No, don’t come near,” he grunted as he was breathing hard. Jessie was looking at Tom who seems to have difficulty breathing.
“Are you sure? I could help you out—“
“NO! You only make it worst with your scent,” he said as Jessie blinked her eyes. Scent? Do I smell that bad? She mused before she was sniffing herself. If her money was right, she did not smell that bad at all.
Tom laughed as Jessie noticed that he was looking at her before he was breathing hard again. He was leaning against the tree that Jessie managed to lean him against it earlier before he shooed her away.
“It’s not your body. It’s your blood. You know how we get when there’s blood involved,” he said as Tom was closing his eyes before he was trying to breathe normally. But it was difficult when Jessie noticed the bloodstains on his hands as well as his clothes.
“You can take mine,”
“No!” Tom rejected her as Jessie felt something inside her. She felt that she wanted to get to Tom but she could not reach out to him like he wanted to. Jessie looked at him before she decided to do something dramatic.
As if she did not do that already in her entire life. Writing about the taboos and legends and folklore of the island, being an anonymous writer with an anonymous publisher. Jessie has done some damages in her life.
And this time, it was with a lord, as handsome as he could ever be, and he was infected with Porphyria.
Yes, Jessie knows all about the gentry and the Porphyria that they were affected by since birth. But there was a slight amount of the gentry, mostly who was married into the gentry, was changed to get the Porphyria and became…
A Vampyre.
That’s the official term for the gentry by the locals alike as they did not understand what was going on with the gentries coming out at night and sleep during the day. It has been going on for generations when the first settlers were inhabiting the island.
It was just the way it was.
Jessie has gone to Tom and straddled his laps as she was pushing him against the trunk. She was looking at him, determined to get him the blood that he needed.
“Here, take it. I am offering to you, Tom as repayment for saving my life. Now, I want to save yours,” Jessie said as Tom was breathing hard now. Even harder than before as she was looking at him.
“I can’t. I cannot take just any blood. It has to be from someone that was married to me,” Tom said as Jessie was looking at him.
“But, did you ask me to marry you earlier?” She asked as Tom was closing his eyes. Then, he sighed.
“I lied, I thought by saying that, you would want to run away,” Tom said as he chuckled humourlessly. “But you’re not like any lady that I encountered. You are—“
“Weird? Curious? Unladylike?” Jessie suggested to him before Tom’s uncanny eyes were looking at her. He smiled before he was caressing her sides. Jessie shivered.
“You’re not what I expected to be and I think I would love to get to know you better,” he whispered as Jessie was leaning closer to him.
“Then, get to know me better but you cannot do it if you don’t have blood now. What if we were attacked by the bandits and you are not fit to fight them? To protect me?” Jessie said before Tom snapped his eyes to her.
“Then, they will rot in hell as I will not let anyone touch you other than me, you’re mine,” his voice changed as it got deeper and deeper. Jessie just realized that his eyes were black again and this time, Jessie was the one that breathed hard.
“Then, take my offering so you can protect me, Tom,” Jessie whispered as she was putting her hair on one side of the shoulder before she was leaning her naked neck to Tom’s mouth. He was breathing hard before he was coming onto her neck.
He was kissing them before Jessie was angling her neck even more for Tom’s access. He grunted before she felt something that was punctured into her skin. She gasped before she felt her blood was getting out from her skin as Tom was gripping her waist closer to him.
Her nipples were getting harder by the seconds before she was gripping his shoulders as she was closing her eyes and felt the strange burning inside her. She has to move on his laps as Jessie was grinding against the hardness that she felt between her thighs.
“God, you’re such a tease,” Tom whispered before she was being pushed by Tom at arm’s length as she was looking at Tom. He was licking his mouth that was stained with her blood before Jessie was touching her wound.
There was none.
“I have secured the wound. Don’t worry, it would not show up on your skin tomorrow,” Tom said as Jessie learned more new things about the Vampyre of the gentry and how they were feeding onto the skin and all that.
“Right, off we go,” Tom said as he was lifting Jessie from his laps before they were standing up. Jessie swayed before Tom was gripping her waist. He chuckled before he was pulling her to his side.
“That’s what happened when you give your blood to me, Jessie. You will lose the blood and your body has to produce some more before we can move along the trail,” Tom said as Jessie was clinging to him.
“We can go. I have you to hold me,” she said as Tom was arching his eyebrow at her.
“Whatever you say, my lady,” he said as they were moving toward the trail to make their way to the coastal city. But the sun will be up later, and they were far away from the village.
“I think we have to find a place to hide from the sun before we can make our moves again,” Jessie said as she was looking at the dawning sky that the sun will be up soon. Tom grunted before they went on the trail by the river to make sure that they were staying on track.
“How about over there?” Jessie said as she was pointing at the cave that was covered by vines. Tom was about to protest when she was opening it and it was quiet inside. Nothing to disturb them later on.
For resting, that was.
“Come on, we can move forward to the village and our final destination after we take the break here first. You have to cover and I cannot be swaying when I wanted to,” Jessie said before Tom was chuckling at her.
“You are one persistent lady,” Tom said as Jessie smiled at him.
“I’m glad that you just noticed that,” Jessie said before they were moving into the cave as the vines were covering their front. They were sitting on the cold ground before Jessie was looking at Tom who was leaning her against the wall of the cave.
“Where are you going?” she asked before Tom smiled. Then, he did something unexpected with Jessie.
He kissed her forehead.
“I will get some firewoods for the fire. Rest up, I won’t be long,” he said as he went to the front of the cave and disappeared behind the vines. Jessie wanted to call after him but she was dozing off as the tiredness was coming at her fast. Then, everything was dark.
