Chapter 72

ARABELLA was writing something in her missive when a knock interrupted her. She looked and saw that Aiden was coming into her private study, holding a piece of the telegram that she could only guess who was from. She stood up as she went to greet her husband.
“Aiden, it has been so long since I’ve seen you, my love,” Arabella said as she was pulling Aiden by the cravat, kissing him on the mouth as she was reaching for the telegram. But her husband caught her action before she could get it. Her husband chuckled softly as the prince consort stepped away from his queen.
“May I know what you’re up to right now, my love? I am sure that I am not interrupting you, am I?” he said as he was walking around the study, wanting to avoid Arabella until he got the right answer for the explanation of the recent telegram that he got from someone that was called Miss J.
His wife laughed as Arabella was stepping closer, wanting to close the gap between them. Aiden stepped back. The young queen arched her eyebrows at her husband.
“Now, now, Aiden. What are you so worked up about the telegram? It must be from one of my—”
“One of yours what, Arabella? Because it would seem to me that this looks like an affair to me,” her husband said before Arabella was taken aback by his harsh voice. Aiden’s inner Demon was showing in his eyes as if they were pure as tar right now.
So, my husband does not like that I was keeping a secret from him? Go figures, Arabella mused before she was unlacing the drawstrings on her nightgown. Her husband followed that movement and moved forward before he caught himself doing that. He growled.
“Don’t you dare to play games on me, Arabella?! I want to know who the hell it is—”
“Yes?” Arabella said as she was pushing the nightgown from her shoulders, showing off her naked skin to her husband.
Aiden who was licking his lips as she stepped closer. Then, Arabella was brushing her hands against his hard chest. She moved her mouth to his left ear.
“Who do you want to know, my love? Miss J, I presume? Oh, my love. Do you think I could ever find someone else to replace you in our marriage, which fills me with joy and happiness just to be with you?” she whispered huskily, leaning back as she was looking at her husband.
Her eyes were as black as asphalt as well. She smiled before she was pulling Aiden’s face closer to kiss him.
“Then, I’m afraid that you don’t know me at all, my love,” she said before kissing Aiden with all the love and passion that Arabella had been holding on to that day.
She was wrapping her hands on his body as Aiden’s cock was hitting her stomach. Arabella broke off the kiss. She smirked. She arched her eyebrows.
“How about I show you how much you mean to me?” the young queen said as Aiden, her consort, released the missive and carried her to their bedchamber to keep her on her promise.

AFTER they had arrived, Ian and Emily went to the dining hall, breaking their fasts as Ian was reading The Island to find out about the current issues that were being discussed during the last Higher Court meeting.
But it would seem that the riots that were happening in those villages were not being solved. Somehow, they got worse as Ian was reading about the miners in Stonelockteco striking against the visit. Ian shook his head.
“I hope Dan is okay from his visit there,” he mumbled as Ian was sipping on his blood-laced wine before he was eating some toast and eggs. Emily dabbed her mouth with a napkin before she addressed him.
“What do you mean, my love? Is the viscount in any danger? I sure hope he will be okay. But to clarify, is he like you? Enhanced and everything?” Emily asked as Ian turned to look at his wife. He smiled before closing the papers and focusing on his meal. He scooped some eggs and ate them. He nodded.
“Yes, thankfully. If not, I’m sure he would be able to pacify the riot in Saintsing. He’s just… that charming, for the lack of a better word,” Ian said, wanting to see if Emily noticed anything about Dan that would surely piss him off if she would comment that she agreed with him.
But thankfully, she did not. Surely, Emily thought better of him than Dan. Ian smiled as he was sipping his tea. Emily sighed.
“I do think that people should be getting more than what they had from last season. Don’t you discuss these discrepancies in our country with the other lords? How about Niklaus, Becca’s husband? Has he had any solution to offer for those lords that had troubles in their regions?” his wife asked as Ian nodded.
“We’ve all pitched in for the solution. And I think Tom has been giving some great ideas on how to make sure that everyone is happy with the outcome, gentle or not. Otherwise, our economic growth will surely have some problems later,” Ian said as he was looking at his pocket watch.
It was past 8 in the evening so he needed to go to the court meeting to investigate this situation further. He stood up as his wife was looking at him.
“I just got a missive after we arrived that I am needed at the Stone Tower,” he said before Emily dabbed her mouth, stood up, and went to stand by his side.
“Are you sure that’s wise? We have just traveled from Lake Ngis and you haven’t been sleeping in a proper bed for some time now and I know that I am being hysterical with all slept, but should you be going, Ian?” Emily asked as she was gripping his hands.
“I’m afraid that you will get sick later,” she said her concern that made Ian’s heart melt at her care for him.
How can I be so stupid as to trust a siren’s words when my wife’s action is more than enough to show her love for me? Ian mused before he gripped her face, pulling Emily closer as he leaned their foreheads together. He sighed as Ian was shaking his head.
“I’m sure you don’t know about this, but a Vampyre cannot get sick, my love. So, rest assured that I am completely okay and will be so even if I have been sleeping on the ground for a couple of days,” he said before Ian smirked, pulling Emily by the waist as their bodies flushed together. Emily sucked on her breath as she felt his eagerness against her stomach. Ian chuckled.
“Especially when I was not sleeping next to you on the ground, doing some wicked things together,” he said before Emily pushed him by the chest and stepped back.
“I guess you are right then, my lord. It would seem that you are perfectly okay with me,” his wife said, before dismissing him with a wave of her hand as Emily walked out of the dining hall. Ian arched his eyebrows as he smirked.
“Aren’t you going to give me a kiss before I leave, my lady?” he asked as his wife turned, smirking wickedly at him.
“I’m sure you can wait for it tonight, my lord. Besides, you did make me wait for yours,” Emily said before she disappeared from the dining hall, doing what she ought to do when they were back in the townhouse.
Ian chuckled softly before he took his tall hat and gloves from the butler that was waiting for him. Then, he was off to Stone Tower.
