Chapter 19

BECCA was sitting in her chamber before she was looking at the ceiling. She was lying down on her back as she was trying to learn and make sense of her husband's new secret. It was one thing to have a scandal and one thing to have this secret of being a Vampyre.
Becca thought she could handle it.
But of course, it was not easy to forget when she could still feel the sting of his sharp teeth on her skin as she was lying on his bed. It was not...pleasant but the feeling of getting intimate with Niklaus to that level of sharing her blood was...turning her on.
Not to mention when Niklaus has the body of a god.
Becca was shaking her head before she was sitting up and she was drawing her knees to her chest. She was looking at the gaslights that were shining in her chamber before she sighed.
She did not know what to do when she was looking at the glistening engagement and wedding ring of hers. Only Niklaus can remove them. But she doubted that she would be free after she knew his secret.
"What should I do?" Becca mumbled before she was looking at the bookshelves that were filling up. She was looking at the familiar wrapper before Becca stood up and went to the bookshelves. She was taking the present that Lady Georgia was giving her.
"Only open it when you are on a rough patch with your husband, darling," her mother reminded her as Becca was tapping her fingers on the present. Then, she shrugged.
"This is a rough patch between us," she mumbled before she was sitting at her desk. She was lighting up the candle before she was looking at the wedding gift from her parents.
She removed the wrapper before she looked at the familiar book in her hand, The Niapachad Island; in the perspective of The Origins.
She was tracing her fingers on the front cover of the book before she opened it. It was her book, why would her mother give her this? Then, Becca stopped as she was reading the name of the book.
Lady Georgia Davis, the name that I shall carry forever.
Cursive writing was her mother's. So, this is not my book then, Becca mused before she was looking at the familiar introduction of the island's history. But there was something that she never saw in the book before.
It was a note that was written by her mother.
I never thought that I would uncover the gentry's secret once I was married to one of them. I thought it was all lavish balls and flirting with the lords but no. It was more than that. It was a secret that would turn every person to avoid them. They were good at keeping their secrets, these lords.
But of course, I captured the attention of one of them.
Lord Matthew Davis.
He was not the most handsome between them but I knew that deep down, he was different. He did not engage in banter and chasing skirts around when I first laid my eyes on him. He was smiling at me and approaching me to dance with me at my first-ever ball.
We instantly clicked and we shared common interests. He was charming as well as caring about my wellbeing. When he decided to marry me, I was overjoyed and I could not think of anything else at the time.
Until my parents did not allow us to continue our courtship.
I begged them to state the reason but they refused. Then, I made my path. I eloped with Matthew and it was the best decision of my life. And when he told me that he was a Vampyre, I knew instantly the legend, the rumor about the gentry was real.
I was a part of the legend when Matthew asked for my blood. I gave it to him since he would die if he did not have enough blood in his system. And we made love all night after that secret was out. I could care less about his secret as long as I was happy and Matthew was my happiness.
I just hope my daughters will find happiness with their lords as much as I did.
Becca blinked her eyes as she was reading her mother's note in the book. Her father was one of the Vampyre? But he did not serve in the Higher Court and he was happy to leave as a merchant between the sprawling towns in Niapachad Island.
Her father would move around the island to sell goods and trade. She did not know that she was a descendant of a Vampyre as well as the Origins, considering that only the descendants of the Origins can have Porphyria that evolved them to become a Vampyre.
Then, was it Fate for me to have a Vampyre husband like my mother? Becca thought as she was touching the mark that Niklaus made when he was sucking on her blood.
He needed blood and it was her blood that he wanted. Becca was determined to find the truth and the truth can only come from her husband, Lord Niklaus Dragomir.

NIKLAUS sighed as he was looking at the retreating figure of his wife. He knew better than to tell her about the truth of being married to him. He was only interested in getting an heir out of Lady Rebecca Davis and that's the end of the story.
Are you sure you just wanted to get an heir out of her? His mind asked him before Niklaus sighed as he put on his waistcoat and tied his cravat. He will be spending some time out of the estate so that Becca can decide what she wants for their marriage now.
But of course, his wish was delayed when his wife opened the door of his chamber and Becca was looking at him.
"So, you're ready to get divorced then?" Niklaus asked her as he was doing his cravat. It did not stay as he wanted it to but it will have to do.
He will be stuck in his office at Stone Tower anyway.
"Where are you going?" Becca asked him as he was regarding his wife.
"I will be going to court. It would seem that our marriage will not last as long as I hope it would," Niklaus said before he was moving out of his way to the door. But then, his wife stopped him.
"You think I would give up on us that easily?" Becca asked him as Niklaus was regarding her.
"Aren't you coming to get the divorce paper then? I will ask them to prepare for it and we can—"
The sentence died in his mouth as Becca was pulling his cravat and then kissed the shit out of him. Niklaus was blinking his eyes before he grabbed his wife and pushed her toward the bed. The main reason to get out of the estate was to be away from Becca as far as he could.
But knowing what his Demon wanted, Niklaus knew that it had to do so now that his wife was initiating the move.

BECCA did not know what had come over her. One thing she was talking with was Niklaus who was adorning his black waistcoat that made him even more handsome than ever and he was doing his cravat with his long, delicate fingers.
Fingers that Becca wanted on her skin.
The next thing happened, she was pulling Niklaus by the cravat and she was stumbling toward the bed with her husband on top of her. Niklaus did not help her either.
Her husband was eager to kiss her back as he was caressing her side as she was not wearing a corset night. She wanted to make him stay and tried to understand his condition.
The notes from her mother were helping Becca as well.
Niklaus groaned when he discovered that Becca was not wearing the corset and he could feel the hardened nipples underneath the gown. Becca was gripping Niklaus' lapel before she broke the kiss to look at him.
"What are you doing to me, duchess?" He asked Becca before she looked at his handsome face, his straight, aristocratic nose, kissable, full lips, long lashes, and golden locks that had been dying for Becca's fingers to run through them.
"I try to understand. Make me understand, Nick," Becca whispered as she was looking at her husband. Niklaus was regarding her with his blue orbs before he sighed. He was sitting at the edge of the bed before Becca was hugging him from behind. Niklaus sighed.
"What do you want to know? Everything has been explained in the history book that we were taught when we were younger," Niklaus said before Becca was shaking her head.
"Not that. But your truth. I want to hear it from your side of things," Becca said as she was looking at Niklaus. He regarded his wife's face with his blue orbs as he turned to look at her.
"You do know what Porphyria is, don't you?" Niklaus asked before Becca nodded at him. He sighed.
"After those terrible weeks that I had of vomiting and constant pain, I finally out of that stage. But there was something wrong with me. I craved blood from the veins of the passing people around me whenever I was in the crowd.
"My eyes would hurt when I was looking at the sun and my skin would burn when I was standing outside for too long. My father told me that it was normal for us, Vampyres, to not go in the daylight anymore after our adolescence. That's when I knew I was different now," Niklaus stated as Becca was kissing his shoulder.
"What happened then?" She asked him before Niklaus sighed.
"My father told me that I need to consume blood every day. Not much, just a pint as I was only a fledgling. He would need a bottle of blood for him to function daily," he said as he was smiling, remembering the times when his parents were still alive.
"What happened?" Becca asked as she felt that there was more to the story than Niklaus was willing to tell him. Her husband was looking at her before he smiled.
"I don't think you want to hear all of them tonight," Niklaus stated as he was coming closer and closer to Becca. Their hot breaths mingled as Becca was looking at Niklaus' eyes. They darkened with desire.
"Niklaus,"
"Becca, my love," he said before he leaned closer and kissed her lips. Becca closed her eyes before she snaked her arms around his nape as Becca was pulling him on top of her.
"Do you want this? Do you want to live with me as long as we both shall live?" Niklaus was asking Becca as she was looking at her husband. Then, she nodded.
"I have to claim you then, my love. So that we can be together for all eternity," Niklaus stated as Becca smiled at him.
"Then do it,"
And Lord Niklaus Dragomir initiated the procedure to welcome his Duchess, Lady Rebecca Dragomir into the darker side of The Higher Court.
