Chapter 12

Viper

I was at the auto shop going over the land deal again. Nixon agreed to have another meeting. This time he was handling it instead of lawyers. He said he was willing to give another chance. Apparently Sabine had talked to him and she said her feelings towards me shouldn’t affect business deals. I’ll take what I can get right now. And a part of me is hoping that since Sabine is changing her mind on business maybe she would eventually change her mind about me. I was going to the rink later today. If I couldn’t talk to her yet I was going to watch her practices.

I have even watched a few videos to find out what moves she is doing. I was able to find a few videos of Sabine's previous competitions. To be honest I have know idea what the moves she does are called. I did try to learn but I couldn’t keep up. I did learn a few names but that was it. I did learn a few other things though. For one the announcers always called Sabine a fierce competitor and very technical. Another thing I learned is that after every competition with Nixon or Casper give her flowers. Bright colored wildflowers to be specific. And she seems to love them because she always smiles and hugs whoever gives them to her. I’m hoping it is her favorite flower because I plan on sending her some. Maybe that will warm her up to talk to me.

I need to explain what happened that weekend we got married. I could make up excuses but I’m going with the truth. I figure that is the only way to win my wife back. I believe that Sabine values the truth as much as I do. We will soon find out. I hope. I’m looking over the proposal one more time to make sure we didn’t forget anything. I don’t want this to fall through again. There is a knock on the door and the receptionist pokes her head in. “ Thor there is a call on line two from a Casper. I tried telling him you were in a meeting but he insisted he won’t talk to anyone but you.” she said.

Thor looks confused but says “ Don’t worry I got it.” The receptionist leaves and Thor accepts the call on speaker. “ This is Thor.” he says. “ It’s Casper. I need one of your most trusted guys and a tow truck to the rink as soon as you can. Have him ask for me.” Casper says. “ I can do that. What am I looking for?” Thor asks. “ You can’t miss it. It is the only metallic blue Jeep Cherokee with four slashed tires in the front lot. Listen, I need you to keep this quiet. And I need you to check the tires real good and see what you can find. If you can get the tires replaced before four. That would be great. I’m trying to keep this from Sabine and if she finds out her truck is damaged she is going to lose her shit.” Casper says. I perk up.

Who the fuck would go after Sabine’s truck? “ I will go myself to pick it up. Casper, did anyone get hurt?” Thor asks, looking at me. He knows I want to know if my wife is hurt. I will skin a fucker if they touch one hair on her head. “ Thank fuck Sabine is fine. She was already on the ice when it happened. She doesn’t even know yet. I don’t want to have to tell her. She cares for that truck like we care for our bikes.” Casper said. Damn that truck is important to her. “ I’ll head that way now. We will get it taken care of.” Thor says standing up. “ Thanks man. I know things are shitty with our clubs right now but you are the only ones I trust with this.” Casper says.

“ We got you brother.” Thor says and hangs up. I don’t say a word, just follow him out. As he gets in the truck I jump on my bike and follow him. I need to see for myself what is going on. We get there in under ten minutes and the first thing I see is Sabine’s Jeep. Now that I see it I remember seeing it before. I remember telling Sabine it suited her. While Thor backs the tow truck up to the jeep I get off my bike and get a look at it. Casper comes out of the rink and greets Thor. He nods his head at me but that’s it. Probably the best I’m going to get for now.

I don’t think he is going to say much to me until Sabine does. “ What the hell happened, Casper?” Thor asked. “ Moose came out to do his rounds around the building and saw the tires slashed.” Casper said. “ This the only one damaged?” I asked. For a second Casper doesn’t look like he is going to answer me. Casper takes a deep breath “ Yea. It is the only one.”

So someone went after Sabine’s truck and nothing else. “ Does this have to do with why you guys are here?” Thor asked. “ It does.” I’m not liking where this is going. “ Are you telling me Sabine was targeted?” I growl out getting pissed. “ Don’t you growl at me fucker. Yes, she was targeted. We are checking the cameras. I make sure Sabine is never left alone. We have this covered. Not that you give a shit. Go back to your skanks and leave Sabine to me and Ice. My crew has her covered.”Casper yells at me.

Oh I know all about how Ice wants to cover Sabine. And I’m not going to have it. “ That’s my wife you are talking about. I’m not going to leave it up to you. And I damn sure don’t want Ice near her. He will have his hands all over her.” I yelled back. “ Are you fucking kidding me right now? Since when have you acted like you have a wife? When you up and left her? When you were having skanks on your dick?” Casper says getting up in my face.

I snap and yell “ I didn’t know I was married dumbass. I was drunk off my ass and didn’t remember. I didn’t know until I was served with those papers. You don’t think I feel like shit everyday for what I did to Sabine. You don’t think I regret it. I fucked up and may have lost my wife. But if you think that now that I know I’m not going to everything in my power to make it right and get my wife back. You have another thing coming. And no one is going to stop me. Not you or your club. You think I don’t know that Ice is after what is mine. He better keep his hands off of her or I will kill him. Now tell what the fuck is going on with my wife.” I scream at him.

Casper backs up and looks me in the eyes. I know he is looking to see if I’m telling the truth. “ You really don’t remember?” he asks when he is calmer. I shake my head “ Bits and pieces. Way too much tequila.” “ And you haven’t divorced her yet because you want to what? Win her back?” Casper asked. “ You are damn right I am.” I said. “ You know me. I married her for a reason. I just don’t remember why. I’m not just going to walk away. I can’t.” Casper shook his head. “I have known you for a long time. You are right. So yea. I believe you.I won’t stand in your way. But don’t fuck her over again. I will beat your ass if you do.” Casper said.
