Chapter 63
Viper
“ You were with me before so I didn’t think it mattered.” Claire said. “ I was with you because I didn’t know I was married. From the day I found out I was, I haven't touched you or any other skank. I have fought hard to get my wife back. The woman I love with all my heart. The one who is now my ol’e lady. And I will not have you ruin it for me.” I yelled. “ Well, what am I supposed to do now? None of the guys here will touch me because of me fucking you. They think I helped in almost destroying the club. And none of the Devils will because your ol’e lady is their sister.” Claire jumped up and yelled back.
“ I don’t give a shit what you do as long as you stay away from me and my ol’e lady. You know what happens to the girls who step out of line. None of us have heard a word of Deb since Ailee handed her over to the O’Sullivans. Do you want to end up like her? Or Nessa, or Angle, or Brit. Because If you do, I will hand you over to Ailee myself.” I screamed at her. Who does she think she is getting in my face? I saw Claire’s face pale when I said I would hand her over. I do know what happened to Deb but I’m not telling her that. She is a maid for one of Ailee’s training houses. No man will touch her because of the brand Ailee put on her.
Before Claire can say another word I hear “ No need for that.” in a thick spanish accent. The next thing that happens is Speed throwing her arm out and punching Claire in the face knocking her out. I look at Speed and shake my head. “ What? I am having my brother’s back.” she says. I laugh then call a prospect to come pick Claire up and take her to her room. I instruct him to make sure Claire doesn't leave her room until Merigold has dealt with her.
When that is done I sit at my desk as Ratchet and Matt walk in. I watch Speed ask if they need her and they say no. My signing isn’t as good as I would like it to be but I can hold a conversation with Ratchet and he corrects me when I screw something up. Speed signs good luck and leaves. I talk and sign when I ask “ What did you want to meet about?” It was odd for them to ask me of anything. That last time Ratchet did it was to become a prospect. “ We would like you to give us a character reference.” Ratchet signed. A what? “ I’m going to need you two to explain.” I said.
They explained how they were working with Ailee and Cormac to adopt a three year old little girl. She is a rescue from trafficker and has no family. They had passed the home inspections, interviews, and the background checks. They just needed four character references from people who weren’t family. I’m going to do it. Absolutely. “ What is her name?” I wanted to know who the newest family is. “ Erin.” Matt said. Ratchet pulled out his phone and showed me a picture. Sitting on Ratchet’s lap is a smiling brown curly haired little girl. She looks so happy with her future dad. “ Congratulations, to both of you. I will get you that reference by the end of the day.”
They thank me over and over before leaving. I make sure they know that if they need anything just to come to me. Not what I expected when Ratchet asked for a meeting but I’m glad he did. And I feel honored that he came to me and I can help make their dreams come true.
Now I just need to finish up this paperwork, write up this reference and get to my dream.
I got everything done in record time. On my way out I handed Ratchet my letter telling him I hoped it helped. When I get to the rink I see most of the classes leaving. I walk down the ramp and see Sabine and Jax sitting on the wall looking at a tablet together. I see Merigold and Rowdy sitting and watching so I go to them. “ What’s going on?” I asked, pointing towards Jax and Sabine. Rowdy smiles “ My boy is working with Pixie on the elite team’s routine. Fine tuning it he said.” I can see how proud he is of Jax. He may not be that boy's blood but he loves him just the same. “ I have to say you have some talented boys.” Nixon says from behind me. “ Yes, we do." Mergold says, laying her head on Rowdy’s shoulder. I take a seat beside my sister and watch the rest of practice.
I watch the kids work and Sabine guides them. When they have questions or have an opinion Sabine listens and answers or works with them to make their ideas come alive. She isn’t running the show or barking orders. She wants to know how they feel. If they don’t see something working they work as a group to fix it. I haven’t gotten to see this side of her before but it is just one more thing to love about her. And I can see her with our kids on the ice training them.
