Chapter 39

"What are you doing here?" I yelped in surprise and annoyance.
He smiled and stared at me, not finding any words to say, or should I say, he was confused. His gaze was just on my face.

"What... Damon!" I called out, still shocked at what on earth brought him here.

"Calm down, no one can see me and my scent is covered." He spoke out, and I sneered at him.

"That isn't what I asked..." I said, "What are you doing here?" My tone went a bit higher.

"Okay, I'm here to give you something," he smirked.

"What is that?" I snapped, and he grinned.

I have been making this magic for so long and finally it is done, so I'm giving it to you. He paused and sighed while I stared.

"This is it." He brought out a ring.

"What is it used for?" I asked, staring at the black ring that had a strong aura.

"With this ring, you can control the minds of all the armies and warriors of this pack. You can use it to enchant them and make them do anything you order," he said, and my mouth went agape.

"Really?!" I squeaked and took it from him.

"Put it on your index finger. I'll tell you how to use it," he said, and I nodded happily.

Scarlett's POV

It was the morning of the next day, and I was woken by a knock on the door. It was still early for me to get out of bed. I don't care what the time might be, but who the hell had the guts to wake me up?

My brother doesn't even do that.

"Who is that?" I yelled angrily

"He is here already." I heard the voice of Dorian, making me arch my brow.

"Who?" I am still lying under the duvet with both eyes shut. I'm not getting out of bed this early after sleeping late last night due to Jason, my cute mate's, drowning thoughts.

"Jason is here to pick you up for school," he spoke, and my eyes widened as I sprang up from the bed like I was stung by a bee.

With the speed of lightning, I ran to the door and unlocked it.

I dragged Dorian in.

You said what? ...repeat it so I would be sure my ear didn't just deceive me. I was spurred with my heartbeat increasing in joy.

"I'm for real; he came to pick you up. He is in the sitting room now." Dorian replied, and I pushed him off with a squeak, running straight into the bathroom.

"Tell him I'll be there in a jiffy!" I shouted.

Oh God, it is becoming clearer as the day goes on that my mate is loving me more, even when he hasn't savoured my sweet, flavoury scent of mate. I am feeling giddy now...

Jason's POV

"You came to take my daughter to school?" Daren said with a smile. I felt like scoffing. I'll never pick up his daughter for school on a normal day. I came here to see my love, Elena. I miss her every second of my life.

"Oh, yes, I love seeing her face," I grinned, leaving them smiling coyly.

Just then, she came running to me. She was rushing down the stairs, making me growl silently. Her face was full of happiness as she giggled, spreading her arms to hug me.

I gritted my teeth and forced smiles instead of standing up, more concerned with accepting her stupid hug; I couldn't believe she was this crazy in love when I despised her the most.

"I can't hug you!" I stated bluntly, leaving her pouting like a baby,

"Why?" She whined like a baby.

"I'm not used to it!" I snapped and looked around as I racked my brain to find a way in which I could meet Elena,

Okay., I understand baby, "she grinned and sat right beside me. She was already dressed for school,

"You both are a real match. I can't wait to watch the both of you get married and..."

"Where is Elena?" I asked him to cut his stupid words.

"That demon is still in a chain. I'll want to meet with your father. We hadn't been that close as he barely attended the Alphas meeting. He seems to be a loner." Alpha Daren muttered thoughtfully, and I nodded.

"Yes, he is always busy with many responsibilities, and he is naturally a social man. I'll tell him you wish to see him. I'm sure he will create a good time for you." I smiled, and he also nodded, feeling good with my reply.

"I've heard a lot about your father. I could only catch a glimpse of him for a bit on my daughter's birthday. He didn't even wait for long before leaving. Your father must be a great alpha," he commended.

"You don't have to say it until we fight the battle and defeat you and your warriors; when you're a slave in the pack, you'll know he's great." I muttered silently in my heart, hating him so deeply.

Even when he did no wrong to me, I hated him more than my father. I hate every single member of the royal family, and at the moment, I feel my heartburn,

All these people are the ones putting her in pain. The only way to avenge her is to make them slaves to Elena!

"Why are you asking her?" Scarlett asked, clutching her arm around my arm.

"You can forget about it. Let's go. I can't go and meet that demon before she uses her evil magic on me!" I huffed, standing up immediately.

"Yes, we will keep torturing her till she finally kills herself." Dorian chipped in, and I forced out a smile.

Just as I stepped out of the pack, I heard the voice of Dad in me.

"Jason, you must bring her to the pack today. We have to be fast or they will find out soon. Get her here and leave the rest to me!" His voice growled inside me, and I nodded.
