Chapter 64
Darren's POV
It was like I was losing my breath. I found it so hard to breathe as all that was happening at the same time was eating me up. I was dying slowly as the shock was hitting me so hard, sending great pain all over me, but mostly in my heart.
I can't believe it's happening so soon and in this way, which I never thought of. I expected an attack from the demon. I guessed their invasion after the Packhouse got burnt, but I never knew it was going to be the person I trusted so much.
I gave my love and trust to Elf. Just today, I got the greatest shock of my life. She was the same person who was going to bring me down, who was going to kill me and wipe my pack.
I trusted the wrong person and hated the wrong person. I tortured and maltreated the person who was my saviour. My tears were all over the floor now. I won't stop crying recalling the past, recalling how I treated Elena, listening to all Elf said without having a rethink.
It is too late to regret. It's too late to make things right. How was I going to reverse the hand of the clock to make up for my mistakes? Elf manipulated the mate bonds, and I mistook her for my second chance mate, not realizing she was my terror and doom.
I was still shocked she was able to disappear when Elena attacked her with the most powerful dragon tactics ever seen. That was the moment I knew she was a demon.
With my aching back from Elena's attack, I dragged myself downstairs with the Beta to set the restraining force that would make it impossible for her to return to the pack. At the same time, I heard Elena banging at the door, so I rushed back to open the door, thinking it was mistakingly locked, only to find it locked strangely. The key lock had never been seen.
The Beta and I returned to the sitting room. The gamma and his mates were waiting. Together we made to set the force when she walked in.
Elf walked in, and I knew at that moment that I was doomed already. I was overly embarrassed and my cheeks flushed with great shame and sadness as she ordered me around. She already knew the Packhouse was my power source.
I was ordered around by the woman I called my Luna. It was so painful, but there was nothing I could do, and that was what tore my heart.
Just now, the truth was revealed by her, causing the pain in my heart to increase.
She was the one who killed my Luna Lillian and not Elena. Elena isn't my daughter, but the daughter of Bane. She is the only one who can save us all, but then, it is too late already. Elf has got her stuck in that room with Jason, her mate.
I have been so foolish all this while.
I was still right there with my head bowed when a group of demons walked in with a burst of hysterical laughter as they took seats on the chair there.
"Hey Torian, come and sit beside me as my Luna," Elf said with those smirks that break my heart the more.
"Oh, is this the almighty Alpha Darren?" One of them asked, and they all laughed.
One of them even kicked my head, causing their laughter to increase.
Oh God, I feel like dying!
Mariam's POV :
My heart was ripped off as I saw what Elf had turned to and got to know the real truth; she was the demon who killed Lillian.
I ran off in pain. I couldn't tell where I was headed, but then I couldn't stop running. My heart was heavy. I wish I could go back to King Bane and tell him the whole truth, but how would I go back when his Beta threatened me?
I am totally confused. I wonder what Lillian's child would be going through. I don't know the path to the silver moon pack. I just don't know what to do.
I kept speeding past the trees and woods, knowing full well I must be in the wolves' territory since they love woods and the scent of trees. I got to a stream and gulped the water to my fill, dashing out again. I didn't know what my fate would be...
I kept running till I got totally exhausted, but then I knew I was in a pack since I had passed a boundary.
I sighted a little boy and called him, but he ran away instead, making me hiss in anger. I knew he was running from a stranger. I knew I must look scared from being exhausted and dirty.
I moved further, ignoring the looks from the people around me. I just needed somewhere to rest.
"A dragon is here!!!!" I heard someone scream at the top of his voice, making me pause my pace. I covered my scent, but the fool found out...
I hissed and tried hiding among the crowd, but it was just impossible as everyone shifted away from me.
Seven hefty men and a young boy charged at me, but I raised my hands immediately.
"I come in peace. Don't harm me please." I begged, as I could already see them shifting into their wolf form.
"Why are you here?" One of them asked
"I was banned!" I replied, and they sneered at me.
"Take her to the Alpha!" Another of the men who looked like their leader huffed and I was carried away.
After a short walk, I was brought into the royal mansion and pushed to the ground in front of the Alpha, who was sitting on a throne with his Luna.
"She is a dragon found among us. No one knows why she is here!" The head of the men reported it to the Alpha, and the Alpha frowned before nodding, then dismissed them.
"What is your name?" He asked, and I managed to reply before the door of the room opened.
I turned to the door only to see a young boy who looked just like Elf.
He walked in with a girl and threw some glances at me before they sat down.
I fixed my gaze on him, wondering how he got the resemblance.
"Who is she?" he asked.
"Are you the son of Elf?" I asked, and he cringed, turning sharply at me.
