Chapter 48
Derrick's POV
"This is our only chance to bring Darren down!" Stan, my Beta, yelled at the top of his voice,
"What are you insinuating?" I asked with an arched brow,
"We have reduced drastically. Our men are strong but few in number. The Red Moon pack has waged war against Alpha Darren and his pack. We should join hands with Javier to fight Darren, who is our single enemy! " He explained, and my eyes glistened at the good suggestion he brought out.
"Stan, you are right!" If we could join hands with them and bring down Darren, we would have peace again and have nothing to fear. " I beamed and rubbed my palm In glee,
"We should kill him before going to form that alliance; leaving him here would cause more problems and distraction!" Stan suggested again, gesturing at the young prince of the Blue Moon Pack, Dorian, who seemed to be unconscious from the torture he had passed through.
But I think we should keep him and make him a slave instead of killing him. That would make us more like a hero in the eyes of other packs. " I smirked, and he sighed and nodded before walking away.
I followed him from behind.
Dorian's POV.
I heaved a sigh of relief, a sign of life. You have no idea how worried I was when I heard I was going to be killed.
I can tell the man named Stan had the deepest hatred for my father. He must have wished all the evil on earth to befall him since I came here. He always spit out angry words filled with pain. Dad had caused him a lot, and his quest for revenge was far more than that of everyone in the pack.
Right now, I could have been dead if Derrick the Alpha hadn't brought up that suggestion. It would be better to be a slave than a dead body.
The chains were still around my wrists and ankles. I couldn't move away from the position I was in, but even if I wasn't chained, there was no way I could leave here, not for the locked door but for the broken bones and intense pain that were all over my body. I had been beaten to a pulp. Stan had unleashed all his wrath on me.
I moved my body to a sitting position and regretted it immediately as I felt like my whole body was set on fire by the pain that went deep into the bone.
I was surprised I didn't die.
My thoughts returned to Elena, and I wondered if this was what she had been through; I had witnessed her torture with a wolfsbane-strewn whip, and I had also witnessed the whip yearn her skin.
She would scream, and I'd laugh at her. Was this the kind of pain she always goes through?
Oh no...
Hot tears found their way down my cheeks. I think I can understand what the pains were because right now, I'm into it.
I sniffed tears and developed a great pity for Elena. My heart had been bleeding in pain because I was being tortured for what my father did, but then, Elena had been rejected and tortured intensely for what she never knew of. A toddler had no power to kill a strong Luna like her.
She was unfortunate to come out at the same time her mother was destined to die. Did she kill Lilian the Luna for real?
If she was that cruel and powerful, many would have died at her hand since she lived in the royal pack. If she had gotten the great power to kill Lilian from birth, she would have saved herself from all those tortures we put her through.
Another tear streamed down my cheeks, not because I was in pain but because the torturous scenes of Elena kept flashing through my mind; no one had ever cared about her.
I was sure my father would win the war as he never failed, but then, why did Javier pull such a stunt of killing my sister? Why did Jason lie to everyone? What would be my mate after everything?
I was lost in thought when the door of the room sprang open and three guards walked in.
I stared at them, wondering why they were here when they should be on the war side.
"What....can...." My voice hitched as they all turned into black wolves, and before I could say or do anything, they pounced on me with those claws and sharp canines, which drugged into my body deeply, sending a sharp excruciating pain that made me lose my breath.
I screamed and yelled to try to break free, but I couldn't because I was chained and my bones were broken. As they slashed and tore my skin, I was weak to the core and could only grunt in pain.
I think I was destined to die with my sister in the end. My blood gushed out of every part of me. My strength was gone. I found no power to shift. There was just nothing I could do as I felt my body being torn by these bloodthirsty wolves.
I saw one of them raise his long sharp claw and fix his gaze on my thumping heart,
"Stan wants you dead and not tortured!" I heard him say, and tears fell from my eyes.
With speed, he started to dig it in, making me shut my eyes, but then, I felt nothing.
Was I dead already?
Slowly, I opened my eyes only to see another wolf with brown fur fighting with the three others.
I arched my brow, wondering who it was or why he or she was saving me. I can tell you I'm still in the rogue's den where everyone hated me, so who is this?
The fight was fiery and bloody as my soul wasn't relenting for a second. It was like someone was ready to give everything to save me...
After some minutes, the three wolves were lying motionless on the floor as their hearts got ripped off by the strange wolf who came in at that moment.
I could only stare in amazement at her strength, but then, I was still curious to know who this was...
The wolf looked at me weakly and exhausted before shifting into the human form.
"What!!!... Sophia!" I exclaimed, with my eyes widened,
I couldn't believe my eyes. I wasn't dreaming, so what the hell was happening? How did she come here?
Her eyes fell on me and I could see she was weak and exhausted from the fight. There was blood all over her pants and bra. She took out her school uniform, which was tied over her legs when she shifted and put it on.
"Sophia..." I called her name, but then she wouldn't look at me. It was like she was afraid to look straight into my eyes again. I just need to know how she did this. Who told her I was here?
"How did you..." I couldn't finish my word as she picked up a sword lying on the ground and slashed it through both sides of the chains, making a loud clanking sound before it broke off.
She did the same to the ones over my feet.
"Is there still nothing for you?" She asked and sat right beside me, her eyes wet with tears.
Her words made me recall what I had said to her in class. She had always had a crush on me, but I wasn't in for love, not when I was yet to drill the holes of all the women in school. I'm a playboy and wasn't in for any relationship, but then she loved me and I knew it, but I would keep turning her down.
Just today, I had bluntly told her she was nothing to me.
I directed my gaze to her face, falling deep into those lovely brown eyes.
I took the risk because I loved you. You may never love me, and I may be nothing to you, but my nights have been filled with thoughts of you, and my dreams have been filled with you. It's fine if you don't love me. I'm here to save you, and I'll help you out of here. You can choose to come with me to my pack or go to yours, even when there is war there. She paused and sniffed back her tears.
I know I'm foolish for saving you. I don't even know if we are mates. What matters is that I love you. I'm sorry for ever disturbing your life. She yelled and took my hand to help me up to my feet.
I called out, "Sophia," and she turned to me with those tears.
Her eyes seemed to affect me. I could see the pure passion in them. My eyes went over the wounds she got just for fighting for me.
I couldn't help but get my heart racing. I swallowed the lump in my throat and let out a deep sigh to calm my nerves.
I'd resolved never to fall in love. That had made me lose my ability to perceive the scent of a mate. I wasn't ready to be trapped by it.
"You love it this much?" I asked with squinted eyes, and she sniffed, looking away...
"I'm sorry, I must look so clingy, obsessed and stupid in your sight." "After today, I might never come close to you again," she mumbled slowly, like she was forcing those words.
I opened my mouth to say something, but then a strong flavor and heartwarming scent filled my nostrils, making my eyes widen.
She also cringed, and her eyes brightened.
"You are my mate!" We both said it at the same time and gasped before bursting into a short laugh.
"So... we are mates?" I mumbled, and she covered her face with her palm shyly.
"Will you reject me?" She asked, blinking those sexy eyes.
I laughed and held her slender waist.
I'd rather die than reject you. Let's leave here before another wolf comes here to kill us, and mind you, I'm heading to your pack. Your father, the beta, would be proud of your strong daughter, who was able to bring down three men at once. " I smirked, and she blushed.
"Dorian, I still don't believe it is true. We are... She chuckled, and I held her hand as we both ran off.
"Until I mark you, you won't believe it is true that we are mates." I said slyly to her, making her laugh softly.
I was surely going to come back to my pack to make things right. I don't know how much evil Dad had done; I don't know how much death he had caused and the people he had put in pain, but one day, I'll return to set things right. I'm the heir to the throne of the Blue Moon Pack. I need to be alive.
"Go in there and kill Dorian; he is the heir to the throne and we can't let him live!" I heard the voice of Elf clearly, the voice of my mother. I heard it with my sharp hearing ability from the distance, and that shocked me.
"Who was that woman making that order?" Sophia asked as we sped off.
"My mother," I replied, feeling my heart heavy. Why would my mother want me dead?
