Chapter 119 The Main Event
(Jacques POV)
As I stood in the middle of the arena, I gave off a sigh of satisfaction. I was about to gain my revenge in the midst of my allies.
The werebears became rowdy as my uncle and his Beta made their way into the arena. They started throwing their food at the both of them. Popcorn started flying, then plastic cups of beer and ultimately, water bottles. Hope had to create a protection bubble so none of them would get hurt while they escorted my "challengers" into the Ring of Death.
I saw Jean Luc's eyes widen upon seeing my silver eyes, realizing who I really was. I gave him a lopsided grin to convey the message he was deceived from the very beginning. I watched his face change from surprise, to shock and finally to anger. His hands curled up into fists, trembling, resisting the urge to strike the people around him. I laughed at him and nodded my head to confirm his very thoughts. Yes, he was duped believing we were just like him, lowly criminals who wanted to be the head of the organization. What he didn't realize, the rest of the mafia was just collateral damage and what we really wanted was him. It felt good to finally be able to turn the tables around on him.
Alexander pushed the two men inside the ring. My uncle's Beta, without complaint, walked inside of the ring his head low while my uncle tried to run. However, Juliette, who was standing near them, stuck her foot out in the middle of his path and he tripped then fell onto the floor. He shook his head, gave an angry glare at a laughing Juliette, and pulled himself off the floor. He instinctively dodged a plastic water bottle which was thrown at his head before he stood upright.
Suddenly, he flew up into the air and was thrown inside the cage with such force, he hit the silver-coated fence on the other side of the ring, face first. One side of Jean Luc's face started to burn from contact with the silver and he screamed in pain, banging his fists on the floor. The crowd howled their pleasure, seeing the very man who made life for all them very miserable, suffer in pain for everyone's personal amusement.
"Hello, Uncle. It took us three years to bring you and the mafia down. I personally wanted to kill you since the beginning, but I remained patient. Now, the time has come to pay for all that you've done. Get up and fight me like a man." My uncle was knelt down in a fetal position, hiding his face with his arms. For a moment there, I thought he was crying. He finally looked up at me, a portion of his cheek burnt from the fence, his eyes narrowed and his rage evident.
"You think you're so clever." My uncle stood up, his eyes had darken and his fangs had come out. "You think everything will just stop after I die. There are more like me out there, living a life of crime and killing werebears when the opportunity presents itself," he sneered. The crowd started to growl, angry at Jean Luc's admission.
I walk towards my uncle and I take his neck in my hands and throw him against the fence of the ring. While my uncle struggles to get up, his Beta suddenly comes from behind and takes me into a chokehold. He bends his head downwards, his fangs out, and tries to bite my neck. I slow time for him just before he sinks his teeth into my skin. I twist myself away from the direction of his teeth while grabbing his hand. I then twist his wrist and yank his arm off my neck. I hear him cry in pain from twisting his wrist. Catching him by surprise, I elbow his ribs then I punch him in the face, breaking his nose. He stumbles back away from me, his nose in a crooked obscene position. After realizing he had a broken nose, the Beta places each of his hands on each side of his nose and straightens it, screaming in pain. Blood starts to ooze out from his nose, dripping on his mouth, his hands, and the floor of the ring. The people in the arena go wild at the sight of blood, many of them chanting, "Blood, blood, we want more blood!"
Then all of a sudden...silence.
I hear a growl behind me and I turn to face the source of that growl. My uncle had shifted to his wolf. He was a huge black and gray wolf, with black eyes, black paws and yellow teeth. The wolf had his teeth out, its saliva dripping on the floor as it barked and growled at me.
"Why shift so soon, Uncle? You can not fight me as a man?" I tell him through mind link. I hear his laugh in my head, a laugh clearly underestimating me.
"Tsk, tsk, tsk...you are just like your poor father, Henri...not wanting to shift because you are too embarrassed of what you truly are. The stink of your father is everywhere in this arena. This crowd is mostly werebears. After I am done killing you, I will make sure I take down another werebear. This world should be free of abominations just like your hybrid self." My uncle slowly advances towards me and I slowly back away. Unfortunately, I hear another growl behind me and I stopped moving away from my uncle's wolf. Apparently, his Beta had shifted into his wolf as well, a big light brown wolf.
"Goodbye, Jacques. In the end, I will get what I have wanted all these years. Your death by my hands." Both wolves circled me, synchronizing their attack. Their teeth were bared, making chomping movements as they growled, trying to intimidate me into submission. Then at exactly the same time, they pounced.
I wave my hand to slow time for them. Both wolves looked like they were flying in the middle of the ring. It was actually beautiful to see, their front legs up, their mouths wide open showing their sharp teeth, their saliva bouncing around their nostrils. Everyone in the arena gasped, watching as both wolves floated in the air. I saw the confusion in my uncle's eyes, as I moved away from in between them, my hands behind my back.
"Oh, uncle, I have powers as well. I can slow down time and in your case, freeze it. It's rather a beautiful sight to see you and your Beta in the air, frozen in time. Look at the people in the arena, they are all looking at you in amazement." I chuckle. "As much as I enjoy toying with you, it's time to end this charade, so to speak." I shift into Fang and I growl so loud everyone in the arena goes quiet.
"I am Fang, the King of the Werebears. And you, uncle, have persecuted my kind for generations." I hear my uncle's Beta make a small whimper as I towered above them, a bear on its two hind legs. He was scared and he had every right to be.
I took the neck of my uncle's wolf in one hand and took his Beta's neck in the other and a smashed them together like they were cymbals. Then I threw them against the silver-coated fence so I could see their fur burn.
The Beta's wolf got up and ran towards the door of the arena. He probably calculated that with enough force, he could break his way through the door and escape the arena. I growl and freeze him in mid stance then I kick him in his gut away from the door into the fence. He falls unto the floor, some of his fur burning, and he whimpers. He tries to get up, but couldn't.
My uncle seemed to be taking his sweet time on the floor. I walk over to him and I saw blood coming out from his mouth, pooling on the floor. He obviously was suffering from internal bleeding. I pick him up by the snout, drag him to his Beta and I slam him unto his Beta like a whip, over and over again. When I was done, my uncle lay on top of his Beta, limp, both of them unable to get up. They were whimpering in pain. I searched my heart, but I didn't feel any compassion for them. They didn't deserve any mercy.
The crowd cheers and starts to chant, "Kill, kill, kill, kill..."
I looked down and saw my uncle and his Beta had shifted back to their human form, too weak to sustain being in their wolf form. His Beta was already coughing out blood while Jean Luc, just laid there, bruised, broken and naked, blood dripping from his mouth while his eyes looked up at the lights of the arena.
"Kill me, I beg you, kill me." I heard my uncle's voice in my head. It was faint. "I can not move. All my bones are broken. Kill me." He pauses for a moment. "Or maybe you are too much of a coward to kill me." Even at the brink of death, my uncle was still proud.
I grabbed his arm and pulled his naked, limp body up. Then I circled his neck with my hands and raised him from the floor to meet me eyes.
"You are a worthless man and a worthless wolf. The Moon Goddess will make you suffer in the afterlife. Goodbye, Uncle Jean Luc Dupont, and good riddance. The world will be a better place without you." I open my mouth, place his head between my teeth and I tear his head from his body, his blood squirting out onto my face and fur. I throw his head in the center of the ring and drop his headless body on the floor beside his dying Beta. I raise my leg and smash the head of my uncle's Beta with my foot. I do it again to make sure he is dead.
The crowd gives me a standing ovation, cheering as they applauded me for a job well done. I walk to the center of the ring and pick up Jean Luc's head and raise it for everyone to see. My trophy for this victory. The applause and the cheers from the people in the arena were deafening.
Jean Luc is dead and the Werebear King has finally ascended.
