Chapter 34 Controlling Anger
Hope POV)
Alexander looked at Oliver like it was a crazy idea. "I don't know Oliver. Anger is an emotion a few people have control of. I don't know what Hope will do if she's angered beyond her control."
"Well, you have to trust Hope. I trust Luna Hope. She always puts everyone's interest first before hers," Oliver debated. I smile at Oliver. He seems to know me better than I know myself.
"Fine, I will allow it, but as a precaution I will warn the household. We don't know what she'll conjure when she's angry. I pray it's snow." Alexander kissed my hand. Electricity ran through my arm from his kiss. He felt me quiver. "I just want you to know, Hope, in your anger, remember the people who love you... I love you."
I smile. "Of course. All of you matter to me. I'd give my life for all of you. I'd never hurt any of you."
We pay for our meal and Big Mama Angela gave me a whole pie to bring home. Dad and Mom are going to be happy. I give her a hug and she tells me, if I ever need her, come and find her. I thank her. She tells Alexander one last time for Mark to see her as we leave.
What is in the dungeons or should I be asking who? I know I won't get any answers from them. I'd have to go and find out myself.
We arrive at the mansion. I head over to my parent's house to give them the pie. I find them with Aunt Cecilia.
"Hope, you got us some pie!" My mom takes out plates and gives my Dad, my aunt and herself a slice. "We were just talking about this crazy weather we're having." They all looked at me as if I knew why.
"Well, Hope?" My mom gave me that "not telling is the same as lying" look. I could never lie to my mother.
"Ok, ok. It was me." I sat down with a defeated look.
"You are getting stronger. Any luck with the spells?" My aunt asked.
"I put up a protection charm around my room in the mansion. I was planning to put a protection charm around the housing area and the territory today. I hope I can still get around to it so we're fully protected. I haven't gotten to invisibility yet though. I'll read through it later tonight. Right now, I'm headed to the dungeons. I need to practice on one emotion and Oliver thinks I'll find what I need there."
"Ah. Anger. The most difficult to control. Adella had trouble with that. She said it was because she was not entirely pure of heart," Aunt Cecilia said.
"What did she mean by that?" I ask.
"Just like you, she was a firstborn of a daughter of Lupa and much was expected from her. Even at an early age, the burden was already placed on her shoulders. She was punished by my mother if a spell came out wrong. She was always told to act, speak and dress accordingly to her birthright. Even if I was the one who made a mistake, Adella would take the brunt of the punishment. She, in turn, became rebellious to a point where she almost rejected the responsibility that comes from being the firstborn of a daughter of Lupa. That resentment in her heart made the emotion anger difficult to control." She sighed. "Do you have any ill feelings deep inside you, Hope?"
"None. I have rarely been angry. I felt jealousy once, but it didn't last. I had a happy childhood." I pause smiling remembering all the fun things I did with my parents. "My parents have always taught me kindness can change the world for the better while anger can destroy the world. If it weren't for the kindness of my parents, I wouldn't be what I am today. I feel I should pay it forward any way that I can."
"I knew I got something through to you." My dad was laughing. He taught me about kindness when we encountered a family living in a car. I was young, around 7 years old. He let them live in the guest house in the back of our farm and gave the father and mother jobs. Manuel and his wife are now the ones in charge of our farm.
"Well, I gotta go. I have something important to do." I stand up and give them all a hug.
"Hope, angry is not what we are, ok baby?" My mom said, after we hugged. She always seemed to know what to say. I'm an Alarie and the Alarie's are good people.
"Luna Hope, your parents and aunt are requested to head to the basement in the mansion. It is secure there." Oliver mind links me. I tell them to finish their pie and come with me back to the mansion.
We walk to the mansion and I see people headed to the basement. Great, I already scared the pants off the household. "Sugar, I called the pack doctor and she'll be here in a minute. Don't you worry. Leo here isn't due til August. You go and do your training."
Now, I felt horrible. I had a pregnant woman go in hiding. I see Oliver waiting for me at the side. I walk to him. "Oliver, can we just do this in the middle of the forest? I can't risk Amanda getting hurt."
"Sorry Luna. No can do. The person you are to see can not have any opportunity to escape. It has to be the dungeons. When you're ready, I'll take you."
I sigh. "Ok. Let's do this." He nods and points the way.
The dungeons are at the far side of the property. From the outside, it is a heavily guarded metal door on the ground. Alexander was already there waiting for us with another man who looked like a mercenary. He bowed when he saw me.
"Hope, I want you to meet Mark, our Delta. He will be in charge of your combat training. He's here to secure the prisoner."
"Nice to meet you Mark." I shake his hand.
"Pleasure, Luna. First of all, I heard you are learning to control the elements and you have requested we help you with one emotion, anger. We have taken the necessary precautions in the event something goes wrong." A pillar emerges from the ground and Mark types in a code and places his palm on the security panel. The door slides open to show stairs. One by one we walk and descend down to another door. This time Mark does a retina scan at the security panel on the door and it opens into a state of the art underground maximum security prison made of silver.
While Alexander, Mark and Oliver put on protective suits to protect themselves from the silver, I looked around. There were just a number of inmates and all of them were dressed down to their underwear. There were no sheets on the cot that lied in the middle of their cell. The floor was made of cement until it reached the silver flooring connected to the silver bars making sure the prisoners could not reach the bars. This prison was well thought out. I thought when they said "dungeon" it was like those prison cells during the medieval times. I thought the same for the conjuring room. Now this! I need to get more "updated" when they use "old" terms.
I was deep in my thoughts when I felt Alexander touch my shoulder. He brought me a suit to put on. I was about to protest when he said, "No one should know." I grudgingly put the suit on.
They lead me to a cell where a man with just a piece of clothing hiding his nether regions sat on his cot. Oh my gosh! My Aunt Cecilia's mate, Bruno! He had some bruises all over his body which were in various stages of healing and a bad cut on his lips.
I stood in front of him not knowing what to say. I take off my helmet to show him it was me in front of him. Well, apparently he didn't have the same problem as I did.
"I didn't expect the daughter of Adella to be stupid aside from foolish." He sneers at me. "You are so different from your mother. Your mother at least used what was between her head."
"You shall not insult our Luna." Mark warns him.
"I wasn't insulting her. I was merely telling her the truth." He howled. The other inmates stood at attention hearing him howl. Mark took out a remote from his pocket and glass enclosures sprung up to encase the other inmates.
"You want to tell me the truth. So, answer my question. Why are you here?"
"I shot the arrow that hit the human." He admitted, his voice laced with disgust as he said "human".
I gasp. "You were the one who almost killed my father?"
"I was aiming for you! With you dead, The Rogue Lord will give me Crescent Moon and I will become Alpha. Not a wolf raised by two worthless humans!"
"My parents are not worthless." I felt the anger.
"Awww. The daughter of Adella seems to be fond of the two humans who have raised her. I would have killed them if I weren't in need of information regarding your whereabouts. Mark my word, when I escape, I will kill these humans you call parents!"
"You touch them and I will make sure you never breath again!"
"They'll be dead before you even tr--," he started to choke. I didn't care about this man. He almost killed my father. He HAS to pay.
I felt the anger from my chest surge through the sockets of my eyes, my hand was raised in a grip like manner like I had his neck in my hands. I could see him trying to breathe, his eyeballs about to pop out of its sockets.
"You think it's funny to try and kill the two people who mean the world to me. Awww, what's a matter? Cat got your tongue?"
Above us, the earth started to shake. I heard someone scream there was a twister headed towards us. Alexander and Oliver tried to get me to stop. I used my other hand and with a burst of light, threw them to the other side of the corridor. I didn't care. I wanted him to pay for what he did to my father.
This person has forfeited his right to live.
