Chapter 36 The TRUSTED Home

(Alicia POV)

I can't believe it! I am not part of the kitchen staff anymore. I was trying to gain the courage to ask Alpha Alexander if he could give me a pass to go on my own and look for a better paying job. But this! I am so happy I could scream.

Beta Oliver takes me to The Trusted Home's office so I can take a look at the contract I have to sign. As Luna Hope's lady-in-waiting, I will be earning more than I could have ever imagined. My mother doesn't have to work anymore and now, I can save money to send my brother Adam to a college or university of his choice. I try to read the contract, but my mind was just buzzing with excitement.

The Trusted Home is a six story house where any omega like myself wants to be. Once you are part of this little group, you are looked upon with respect.

It's just as beautiful as the mansion, but more hotel-like than house. The first floor is designed as a reception area. On one side is the lounge area with one of the biggest Smart TV's I have ever seen. At the end is a small bar which has all of the kinds of alcohol you want. On the side is a dartboard and a foosball table. I heard there is a certain Mark who likes to bartend once a month and creates concoctions from around the world.

On the other side are a number of small circular dining tables fronting a sliding panel which opens up to reveal the buffet area where coffee and rolls are being served twenty-four hours a day as well as a big kitchen. Towards the back is the laundry room with a small knook where you can read while waiting for your laundry. Well, the wolves here aren't the ones who make use of the laundry room, that's for sure. The upper floors are the sleeping quarters of each wolf. All designed like a hotel room. I should know...I clean up after them.

"Miss Alicia Thomas, it says here you did well in combat training. David gave you a satisfactory. Good, we need security around Luna at all times. Skilled in dagger and bow and arrow. Good, you can help Luna when she undergoes training in that area." Oliver was looking at my school records on the computer. "You can drive. Good. It also says here you have a passion for cooking. Well, I have a passion for eating." Oliver laughs at his own joke.

"Have you read the contract? Do you understand it?" Oliver asked. He waited for a response, but I was just spaced out from all the excitement. "Miss Alicia!"

"I'm sorry. I'm just excited. I never imagined I'd be working so close with the Luna."

"Alright. I understand. I'll go through everything with you." He gestures to me to look at my contract so he could start.

"There are eight rooms available here, you can choose whichever room you want. Your mother and brother will be transfered to one of the small homes on the property. Here's a phone." He places a box of a new smartphone infront of me. "My number, Luna Hope's and Alpha Alexander's numbers are already in contacts."

"As for clothes, I need to require you to wear something you won't have trouble running in or kicking in, in other words, anything YOU feel would restrict any movement. It's ok to wear a miniskirt just as long as you feel you're comfortable "kicking" in it if a situation calls for you to do so. I don't want to hear, "I couldn't kick him because I didn't want people to see my underwear." You have to be ready at all times. Luna Hope and you will be going to the village later to pick out clothes for you to wear and anything you need after they wake up."

"They're asleep?" I asked, surprised.

"Ah, yes. Alpha, mind link, you know." Oliver pointed to his head like it was nothing. "By the way, learn to mind link with Luna. It'll make things easier. I'll ask her to mind link with you so there's an immediate connection."

"Your job is not only to assist Luna, but to guard her as well. You are like me, her Beta. Alpha Alexander trusts you or he wouldn't have given you the job. Also, Luna Hope is a Priestess by birth so, make sure you are ready for any magic."

"So, it's true. She is the daughter of Adella?"

"Yes. And she is also the Alpha of Crescent Moon. Miss Alicia, when you sign the contract, you are bound by secrecy. Everything and anything about Luna Hope, does not come out of your mouth. You can't even say anything to your mother or brother. Do you understand?"

"I can't even tell them Luna's favorite food?"

Oliver laughs. "Luna Hope has some unique qualities, gifts, that should never be spoken of. You will find out in the long run, but for the mean time, just know Luna Hope is someone we need to protect. Many want her dead."

"Will I be in any danger?" I think I need to think this through. I know they murdered Adella, but Luna Hope too? Many want her dead because of her affiliation with Adella? Why is it always the good ones...people or wolves want dead?

"No. Luna Hope is much stronger than we anticipated. Knowing her, she'd probably be the one who saves you." He opens his desk to get out the keys to the rooms. "The room at the end of the house has a balcony, but is a bit smaller than the other rooms." He mind links me.

"I'll see that one first." I mind link him back.

"Nice. Now, we have a connection. Just as long as you are within the vicinity, we can talk even if we aren't next to each other."

"Lastly, after you sign and take your oath, you are bound by this contract for life. Only Alpha Alexander or Luna Hope can terminate the contract. If in any way you betray us, your betrayal is punishable by death. Not banishment or imprisonment. Death." He looks at me to see if I would flinch. I don't. "I hope the salary is to your liking. If not, you should negotiate now."

"Negotiate?"

"Yes, negotiate. Tell me what you want. If I can't meet your demands, I will go to Alpha Alexander so we can alter your contract."

"I can do that?"

"Of course. Although, if your demands are much more than we can offer, much more will be expected of you."

"May I ask for an advance and maybe a car? Just a small car. Nothing too extravagant. For my mother and brother to use."

"A car? I can give you one right now. As for the advance, sure. I'll give you one month advance. You just need to go to the bank and they'll give you what you need including a credit card."

"I get a credit card too?" My eyes widened. Money will never be a problem for my family ever again.

"A company credit card. Anything you need while you're on the job, you can use the card. Let's say you are waiting for Luna Hope and you're hungry. You can grab a bite to eat and charge it so you don't have to go through your personal income. You can shop for things using the card, but you must be able to defend your purchases if ever I ask. Everything okay for you? After you pick a room, I'll take you to pick a car. So, will you sign or not?"

"I'll sign." I signed the contract. Then, with a sterile needle, Oliver pricked my thumb for me to put my thumbprint beside my signature. Then, Oliver presided over my oath-taking. He shakes my hand and congratulates me. I am now part of "The Trusted".

Oliver takes me to see the rooms. We first went to the room with the balcony that has the view of the territory. In it was a bed, a hidden mini fridge in the chest of drawers, my own TV, a closet and my own bathroom that had a tub! I peeked at one of the much bigger rooms with a small window. I told Oliver I wanted the room with the balcony. He nodded his head and said it was a good choice. His room also had a balcony on the top floor and he usually has coffee there in the morning. I'm going to start doing that too.

We leave The Trusted Home so he can take me to pick out a car. He told me to wait at the side of mansion so he can get the keys to the cars. I quietly waited until I saw my former boss, Karen. She's the head of the household staff and a really mean omega. All the bruises, burns, cuts on my body are from her.

"I have been looking everywhere for you! Where have you been?! You lazy, good for nothing tramp!" She grabs my hair and starts pulling me by my hair towards the kitchen of the mansion.

"Wait! I'm not a part of the kitchen staff anymore." I try wriggling my way out of her grasp.

"What? You got yourself a pass to leave? You are such a liar. You will never leave. I'll make sure to tell Alpha what a lazy tramp you are!" She pulls me into the laundry room of the mansion, pushes me to the floor and starts kicking me. Everywhere. I try and mind link Oliver, Luna...anyone.

"Help me."
