Chapter 124 Reinforcements

(Jacques POV)

We were speeding along the highway, trying to get to Hope as fast as we could. The lightning was putting on a massive display in the sky, bouncing from one cloud to the other. Each time thunder would erupt, Juliette would jump in her seat at the back of the car.

"Is that really Celeste, I mean Hope, doing all of that, Jacques?" She asked, frightened.

"Yes. That's her signature. She has the ability to control the elements at will. One of her most formidable powers I must say. She also has many other gifts, one of them being the gift of hindsight." I looked at Juliette through the mirror, watching her. Hope and I had seen something in her memories. She had spoken to a woman who was clearly in disguise as a man. It was her gestures that alerted Hope although Hope wasn't sure how much conniving she had done with this person. Most of it was against Jean Luc so Hope wanted me to ask Juliette if she had told this person about us and our plans.

Because of all of the excitement yesterday, Hope retired early with Alexander. It was understandable, she was pregnant and helped us the whole day.  From drugging Jean Luc to aiding me in my claim of the territory, she had earned her right to rest. Her doctor was always by her side reminding her of her obligations to her pup. And she had her mother as well,  threatening her she would fly to France if she did not return home early.

I felt truly guilty. Her mate and her dearest friends have been captured all because she had promised she would aid me in my revenge. Now, she is pregnant, alone, fearing for Alexander, Arthur and her Priestesses.

"Hindsight? What do you mean?" Juliette looked  bewildered. She did not understand what it meant.

"She has the gift to look into a person's past by mere touch. She has seen your thoughts and past memories, one memory of you talking to a man about Jean Luc's plans. I need to ask you Juliette, just one friend to another, have you told this man about our plans?" I turned around in my seat and looked at her. Her face had suddenly turned red and she avoided looking into my eyes.

"I-I don't really know what you are talking a-about?" She averted her face away from mine to look out of the window of the car.

"Juliette, you need to tell me the truth. Did you tell anyone of our plans?" I asked her gently, hoping my tone would be reassuring enough for her to tell me the truth.

"I-I received a phone call this morning. It was the man. He asked if we were coming back to Lune Brille today. I told him we would be coming in two groups. One by plane and the other by car. I'm sorry, Jacques. That man has helped me all these years when I couldn't meet the quota. Not meeting the quota meant the whip and no meals. I was tortured by Jean Luc's Beta for years. This man took pity on me and would provide me extra income when I came short. I am so sorry." Tears started falling down her cheeks and I felt bad. It wasn't her fault if she wanted to avoid being whipped.

"Don't cry, Juliette. We understand." Yuri nodded his head in agreement. "You were just a pawn to all these people. Jean Luc and his Beta, the worst among all of them." I turn around in my seat and look forward. We were nearing the gates of Lune Brille and I could already see Hope standing in the middle of the road. Her hands outstretched at her sides and her face contorted in what looked like unimaginable rage. "There she is, Yuri. In the middle of the road." I pointed her out. Yuri stepped on the gas and abruptly swerved right so the car would stop with the door of the back seat in front of her.

Hope opened the door and hopped in. "Drive. Go across town, then make a turn at the bridge. The entrance to the territory is on a dirt road." Yuri high tails it away from Lune Brille towards the direction Hope had given him.

"Hope, are you okay?" I attempt a conversation so she would calm down. The lightning was following us, striking down the lamp posts as we passed them. Juliette looked pretty concerned because the lightning was striking objects very close to us.

"No, I am not okay. I am angry. Do you see those bears seated on the benches? They haven't moved. I assume that horrid woman drugged them. There weren't any bears at the airport either. She must have played target practice with them, too."

"Target practice?"

"She has tranquilizer darts with special capsules for whatever potion or elixir they need to use. The wolves had a capsule with a needle at the end tied to their claws. One scratch and the others stopped moving. They paralyzed them." Hope was rambling so fast. She was really angry. All of a sudden she pointed at the sky.

"Look, the weather has gone bad at the location of the territory of those wolves." She gasped. "It's Arthur!"

"Arthur?" Yuri and I said in unison. I knew Arthur had power, but I didn't know he could control the elements as well, just like Hope.

"You remember when Amelie, your mom, showed us our bloodline?" I nodded my head.

"During the first phase of the alignment. But I didn't take a good look at it. She snatched the parchment away from us so quickly," I told her.

"I remember a name "Arthur' on a slot of the firstborn Lupa's. A twin. I suspected Arthur, but I didn't want to pry. I wanted him to tell me he was a blood relative."

"Arthur is related to you?! And he is a first born Lupa?! An anomaly?" Errors do happen, most especially bloodlines. An anomaly of an anomaly. That explains why he is so special. A first born male of Lupa without the golden eyes.

"He isn't an anomaly, silly. He's my grandfather." Hope smiles, but the lightning just got worst. It was hitting the trees now causing fire."Yuri, step on it. Arthur needs reinforcements and for now, we are all he's got." Yuri steps on it, looking back at the rearview mirror.

"We have company, guys " Three black cars were chasing after us through the smoke from the fires. A man's head pops out of the passenger's window and he aims a gun at us.

"Oh, no you don't." Hope directs a bolt of lightning towards the man. It strikes the man and the car swerves into the side of the road, into a ditch.

The other two cars narrowly miss them, swerving in and out. Again, the remaining cars attempt to shoot at us, the men popping their heads and their guns out from the sun roof of their cars.

"When are they going to stop?" Hope wiggles her fingers and two bolts of lightning simultaneously hit the cars. Hope laughs when the cars flip over. Juliette looks at her like she had gone insane. Hope turns to sit properly in her seat and fixes her clothes. "Sorry, I didn't mean to sound maniacal. I'm just trying to protect us." Juliette nods her head in understanding, but scoots over further away from Hope.

Yuri finally reaches the bridge and turns into a dirt road. A tornado could be seen forming. From where we were, it looked like it would turn into a huge twister.

"Arthur is obviously very good with tornados. I can only form small ones. I need him to teach me how to that." Hope chuckled, pleased. "That woman must be very surprised. Arthur is going to wipe out her entire territory."  Hope was bending down looking out through the windshield of the car, trying to get a better look at the black funnel of deadly wind, that had already started to destroy every thing in its path.

We were all enjoying Arthur's display of power when balls of fire started to rain from the sky.

I needed that spear.

(Arthur POV)

Some of the wolves who were standing guard near the cave had noticed the copper door was open. They shifted and sprinted towards us.

I created a protection bubble around me and Hugo, then one by one, I struck the wolves who were attempting to come near us. Hugo was frightened at first, but when he saw the dead wolves on the ground, he started feeling brave. I had him wrap his arms around me so we could exit the cave together.

We slowly walked out of the cave into the open.  Hugo was having problems walking. He was weak and lacked exercise. He needed me to help him move and at a snail's pace we did.

More of the other wolves in the territory came out to confront us. This time they had guns which I safely assumed had either copper of silver bullets or maybe poison darts. They started shooting at us, but their ammo couldn't penetrate the bubble I had conjured around us. I retaliated with a swish of my hand. I had lightning come down at them, striking them one by one like a pin ball.

We were pretty far out from the buildings of the territory so I decided to conjure a tornado to wipe out all objects in our path. The group of my friends I knew were safely below ground and if they were chained with silver or imprisoned in silver cells then they would most probably stay underground for the time being.

The tornado I needed had to be massive to exterminate the whole pack. I needed to use all the power inside me to conjure something so massive.

"Moon Goddess, I beg you help a tired old man escape and retire with my great granddaughter. She is the only one who has accepted me for who I truly am and not what I could be for her."

I felt my hands grow warm. I looked at my free hand and saw blue light flicking around my fingers. We needed to stop so I could create what we needed for our escape.

There was a boulder in the middle of the field and we walked to it. I told Hugo to rest while I conjured the twister. I clapped my hands together and the wind picked up. A funnel of dark clouds started moving with the wind, descending to the ground near the buildings within the territory. At first, it was a fairly small tornado, but I twirled my fingers round and round until the tornado grew in diameter, enough to swallow a small city whole.

The tornado started destroying the homes directly in its path. I saw it lifting up cars and trees in its wake. As the twister moved through the territory, I saw burst of lightning in the distance near the entrance of the territory. Hope was finally here to give me some reinforcement.

Just like my tornado that quickly appeared, balls of fire started raining on my parade.

Alpha Bailey has some tricks up her sleeves. Well, we shall see, won't we?

Two Lupas against one. I like the odds.
