Chapter 121 Rebellion
(Alexander POV)
We were all separated from each other, placed in cells with silver bars, stripped down to our underwear. It was dark and damp in the dungeons and it had an awful stench. I was lying on the floor trying to adjust my eyes to my surroundings. I felt my arm was already healing but I still had problems moving. Like the others, I was paralyzed. The wolves who attacked us had a small capsule with a needle tied into one of their paws. With just one tiny scratch, I felt my whole body go immediately numb.
"Is everyone alright?" I try to mind link with the others and see who I can get a response from.
"I'm fine, I just can't move yet." I heard Maria's faint response in my head.
"Me too. But my toes are starting to budge." Leia's voice was much stronger. She was one of the first to be taken.
"My head hurts." Oliver moaned. He was driving the limousine and was snatched up like the rest of us. My thoughts wandered off to Mark and Ava who we left at the airport. I hoped they were okay.
"Arthur, are you alright? Arthur?" Odd. He was with us in the van when we drove off. If he wasn't here then where was he? "Does anyone know where Arthur is?", I asked the others hoping someone had an answer.
"They have in another prison, Alexander. They've mistaken him for a bear." That makes sense. Maximus and Fang have always moved as a unit, creating an assumption Maximus might also be bear even if the wolves knew he was the Beta of The Rogue Lord. The Rogue Lord himself was sneaky and mysterious. This could have prompted a theory among these wolves that the Rogue Lord could have utilized a bear in his army. Plus, Maximus had that awful smell that followed him everywhere. It might have led them to believe he was truly a werebear.
This also meant his cell may not be made of silver, but instead, of copper. Arthur then may have a chance to escape.
"Yes! I can finally move," I hear Leia say through mind link. "This is a small dungeon. Seems there are a few others here with us. I can't see the entrance, but there's a light at the end of the hallway facing my cell. Let me see if I can use my powers to open my cell."
"No Leia! Let us make them believe we are just regular wolves. When the time is right, use your powers. The woman who captured us has powers of her own. I saw her touch my hand to see what information she could get out of me. Did she touch any of you?" I ask them. My mother had taught me to block Hope's gift of hindsight. I did it to the woman when we were in the van. I think Arthur did the same which made her conclude he was a werebear. He only let her see what he wanted her to see.
"She touched me. I blocked her using the blocking spell I got from Alexander's mom." Maria had my mother teach her how to block the gift of hindsight before we left for France. I didn't know if Leia had the chance to learn it though. "I was also able to hear some of her thoughts when she touched me. She wants to finish the rebellion her ancestors began." Maria paused for a moment and I heard a scraping sound on the ground. "Whew! I can move now. I'm here at the last cell near a small opening in the wall. If we can get out these cells it will be easy for us to escape. It looks like we are in a basement. I can see people's feet outside." Maria seemed to be perky eventhough we were locked up and surrounded by killer wolves.
Maria mentioned a rebellion. Against who? The werebears? The old man, Frederic, knew a little of our history. At night, when we were all winding down with a drink, he would go on about stories of the past when the werewolves and werebears were allies and both were governed by a ruling party of those with golden and silver eyes.
The old man did mention there were wolves who did not want to be allied with the werebears. Could this be the rebellion that woman wanted to finish? She wants to kill the Werebear King?
I try to move my body and I was able to sit up. I saw Leia who was two cells across from me and Oliver who was near the end of the hallway. I looked for the small opening Maria had spoken of and I found her about 3 cells down to my right.
It was still daylight outside, however, the light started to dim and the wind started howling. We heard a clap of thunder and the dungeon vibrated along with the sound.
"Hope's here."

(Alpha Bailey POV)
"Kill the one with the golden eyes. Take the power of her brother and use it against her. Only then will you find your true destiny."
Every night in my dreams, I would hear the voice of the shadows. It started three years ago after the fall of the so-called Rogue Lord in America. At first, the voice was faint, barely a whisper, but now, the voice had become louder, clearer, waking me from slumber each time I tried to get some sleep.
I needed to drain the power of Jacques to conquer the woman with the golden eyes. I will use her mate to subdue her while I take Jacques' power so I can end the bloodline of Lupa. Once I have killed her, the bloodline of Ula will reign supreme over all weres, the very vision my ancestors had when they began the rebellion.
During the time of our ancestors, wolf and bear were allies, priestesses and mages were united, and all were under the leadership of the wolves with the golden eyes. They were fair, righteous and good, and loved by many. Their goodness was blessed by the Moon Goddess and all lived bountiful against her bosom.
However, there came a prophecy of the werebear king. "A werebear with silver eyes who stands on its hind legs will be blessed as king and will hold dominion over all." This prophecy caused unrest among a group of wolves who believed any other were was either beneath them or an abomination. This group was my bloodline, the Ula, and they were the ones who started the movement against the Lupa's as well as the werebears.
One of the priestesses of the Circle of the Ring during their time was an Ula and was a close friend of the Head Priestess Lupa. When her family began campaigning against the golden-eyed Lupa's, she was torn between friendship and family. Both questioned her loyalty while the Lupa's questioned the goodness of her heart constantly reminding her their pursuits and goals were always centered for the greater good.
Before the separation of territories, the Head Priestess gave her the difficult task of deciding whether or not to continue as a priestess of the circle. To the disappointment of her family, she decided her loyalty was to the Moon Goddess, the circle and to the good of all weres. The priestess then invited the members of her family as well as her pack, to follow her into the territory of the Lupa's where they are welcomed to stay.
It was a huge blow to the Ula's when some of the wolves of their pack and some relatives accepted the invitation to leave the pack and create another under the protection of the Lupa's. However, their departure had a silver lining. Once the land masses separated, the Lupa's together with this Priestess and those who followed her were never seen or heard of again.
This began the reign of Ula who decided the werebears were enemies and whoever sided with them were deemed enemies as well. For generations, they sought, fought and killed all the bears especially those with silver eyes.
The sister of the priestess who left became a strong dark witch, corrupted by the power she held over all remaining weres in the area. However, there was always a price to pay when you go astray from the path of good. The Moon Goddess cursed the pack, the land and ultimately, their fortunes, making them suffer in poverty and starvation and the numbers of the wolves dwindled year by year.
Then came the age of the humans. They provided work and livelihood to the wolves which helped the packs survive and gave them the ability to continue their quest to free the world of bears.
The one they called the Great Shadow of Ula ventured into our territory many years ago learning the ways of the dark witch who reigned terror among the weres. He told us the bloodline of Lupa was still alive and like us he too wanted the bloodline Ula to lead all weres. To continue the fight, he had to learn everything, but this cost him his humanity as well as his body, making him a mere shadow. Oh, he had great power, but he suffered in the light.
My grandparents caught wind of a werebear family living in the mountains who had a son with silver eyes. They slaughtered the parents and took the son named Henri, who my grandmother raised in a copper cell hoping he would show power so she could take it from him. But on his 18th birthday, he escaped and bumped into Alpha Salome, Jean Luc's sister, whose pack was an ally of ours against the werebears. Unfortunately, they fell in love and had Jacques, another one with silver eyes.
After Jean Luc had killed Jacques' parents, I had told Jean Luc to keep Jacques under lock and key. I thought he had understood what I had meant, yet he had pimped the boy to an old man for a great deal of money. When Jacques escaped, I wanted to kill Jean Luc for his idiocy, but he was starting to do well with his criminal activities and I stood by wanting to profit as well. During the beginning of our operations, I had received word from the Great Shadow that Adella had been killed by the Rogue Lord. There was speculation the daughter had died as well although there was no evidence. The Great Shadow though said it was safe to assume she had died so I became bold with my criminal undertakings. I helped Jean Luc expand his operations, making him a high ranking official in the mafia.
Yet, after all the years of being clever, Jean Luc did not even notice his nephew was right in front of him. Such stupidity.
I do have to thank Jacques and his sister for killing off my "grandmother". I knew she was my mother, but I didn't want to kill the person who gave me life even if she was a liability. All she wanted was to become young again and that for me was a waste of power. Better she die and her spirit lie in me.
Well, now I have Jacques and the one with the golden eyes where I want them. Backed into a corner.
A clap of lightning and a rumble of thunder is heard and felt throughout the territory, the sound of the thunder reverberating through my home. I sneer.
Let the games begin.
