Chapter 94 The Fall of Midnight Moon
(Luciana POV)
I peer through my binoculars wondering what was happening at the fortress. One minute there was a tornado, the next..Poof! It vanished into thin air. This is what I dislike about wolves who have the gift of magic, they could do more harm than good.
Don't get me wrong, Hope is a wonderful young lady, she uses her magic for good, but if the scales were tipped, she may just go bad. Someone as powerful as her becoming bad? She can cause mayhem and that's something I admit, scares the shit out of me.
"Alpha, the rogues are about to start their attack." My Beta mind links me. I look down from the tower and see him pointing towards the direction of the rogues who have been camping outside our territory.
"Prepare the army. We fight to the death!" I tell my Beta and he bows and walks away to prepare my army. I go down my watchtower to lead my men to war.
"Alpha, I just received a message from Dark Moon. They have succeeded in thwarting the attack of the Rogue Army." My Gamma informs me.
"Good, it means we have a good chance in defeating them too. Make sure everyone is ready. We need to end this once and for all."

(Zeta of The Rogue Army POV)
If there is a right-hand man known as the Beta, there is a left-hand man and that is me, The Zeta. Since Maximus was busy outside the fortress with whatever The Rogue Lord has commanded him to do, I was tasked to lead the army to victory against Midnight Moon. Midnight Moon's territory was the nearest to the fortress and headed by Alpha Luciana. I personally asked The Rogue Lord to give me Midnight Moon. I want this territory and I want Luciana to be my mate so, I can ensure my bloodline will remain Alpha for generations to come. Of course, her pack was also the wealthiest. It wouldn't hurt to be rich as well as powerful.
I received a message from a scout that the attack on Dark Moon has failed. All that buttkissing of the new Gamma may have softened The Rogue Lord in choosing him as new Gamma however, no one else was convinced, most especially me. I told him I would be coming for him after my attack on Midnight Moon. He laughed and said by the time I get to him, he would be rich and well accommodated. Well, no need to come looking for him. He's already dead.
"Master Black, prepare the men for the attack. Make sure to be on the look out for bears. Apparently, the Clan of Wolves has made an alliance with the Werebears of the Himalayas. Stay away from the bear's claws. Pounce on their back and rip their flesh out." I tell my second in command and he nods in acknowledgement. Master Black shifts into a black wolf with gray paws, hence the name. He was a quiet wolf and only spoke when spoken to which is one of his traits I liked the most. He will make a good Beta once I become Alpha.
"Sire, something is happening at the fortress. After the lightning storm, a tornado appeared yet, it magically disappeared after a few minutes." Master Black informs me. I noticed the tornado. It was a sign the Butler told me to look for. He said it meant The Rogue Lord had magical powers that would lead us to victory.
"The Butler told me this would happen. It means we will be victorious. Prepare the men to enter the territory of Midnight Moon."
"They have shifted to their wolf form, Sire. They are all awaiting your signal."
We heard a laugh echo all around us. It was a dark, sinister laugh we have never heard before. The Rogue Lord hardly laughed so, we all knew it wasn't coming from him.
A figure of a woman wearing a white blouse, khaki shorts and white sneakers flew in the sky. I paused for a moment, trying to remember where I've seen this woman. I remember seeing photos of her on social media. It was the daughter of Adella! However her eyes were no longer gold. They were red!
"Who is leader of this army?" She asks. She was possessed somehow by something evil. Her voice was a voice I imagined evil to sound like if it ever became a person. The daughter of Adella was so beautiful, like an angel. I never envisioned her to speak in a voice so malevolent. It was frightening. I saw some of my men whimper and back away. An angel of death flew above us.
"Lord, I... I am the leader of this army. I am who they call The Zeta." I walk towards her and bow, hoping she would not hurt my army.
"Is this the army of The Rogue Lord?" She laughs. I swear, no girl or woman should laugh like that. It caused the hair on my neck to stand.
"Part of the army, Lord. There are two thousand strong and able wolves here, Lord. A thousand wolves each were sent to Dark Moon and Moon Howlers. The pack we are about to raid, houses the most wolves, thus, we are many." I tell her.
"How many are in their pack?"
"An estimated four thousand to five thousand, Lord."
"You are clearly outnumbered. You will fail if you proceed with that number. Do not fret. I will double your number and make you stronger." The daughter of Adella was on our side. I must make sure I raise my concerns now before we attack.
"Lord, there are werebears present. They are a crucial obstacle from winning this war."
"I will deal with the werebears. Begin your offensive, Zeta." She instructed.
"Lord, if I were to win this attack, I would like this territory to be mine and their Alpha, my mate."
"It seems you have a...grudge with this pack." I nod my head, acknowledging her assumptions. " I will bestow this pack and territory if you are victorious. You have my word."
"Thank you, my Lord." I bow to the daughter of Adella and turn towards my men. "Wolves, we will start our onslaught!"
I will emerge triumphant. I will claim this territory for myself!
"Wolves of the Rogue Army, attack!" We sprint towards the Midnight Moon territory. As we inch closer inside, the werebears charge towards us.
The daughter of Adella flies above and inserts herself between us. She waves her hands and a fire erupts in front of the bears then circles them.
She soars to the sky once more and starts laughing, amused the bears are trapped in fire. My army parts to avoid the fire and rushes head on to the army of wolves in front of us.
While we were busy fighting the wolves, the daughter of Adella started to burn everything. She started to burn the homes found in the territory. I had seen Luciana evacuate the women and children beforehand so, I knew no one would be hurt in the fires.
The fires grew and the flames started to engulf the territory. This made me nervous. My soldiers could get hurt if these fires could not be controlled and if everything burns, I would have nothing to claim except burnt trees.
Luciana...I needed to find Alpha Luciana before she died in the onslaught. Where is that stubborn woman?!
It starts to rain. As much as I wanted to win, I didn't want everything to burn. I was thankful, the Moon Goddess could hear the prayers of Midnight Moon.
"Luciana, where are you?" I try to mind link with her. If she is within the vicinity, she will hear me call to her.
"Gavin, is that you?" I heard her, it was faint, but clear. I tried to sniff her scent, the smell of caramel popcorn. "You must leave. The daughter of Adella, she has been possessed by something unearthly. Something immensely foreboding." I mind link her while dodging an attack from a wolf of my former pack.
Luciana and I are fated mates. I was a rising star among the he-wolves, the strongest and most cunning warrior. I was to become Gamma once Luciana became Alpha however, the Moon Goddess has a way of playing with her "pets".
When Luciana became of age, that was when we found each other. I loved her smell of caramel popcorn and she, my scent of molasses. When we looked in each other's eyes, it felt like we saw each other for the first time. Our wolves had both said mate, yet her father, billionaire Lawrence Hemming, would not allow Luciana to mate with a lowlife Omega even if I was being eyed to become the new Gamma. He banished me from the pack and I was welcomed by Maximus, who was looking for someone to divide his work with.
I could have fought Lawrence for Luciana's hand, I knew I could win, however, I couldn't do that to Luciana, she mattered to me that much.
"I'll be at the lake house." I heard her again. It was a bit stronger. I turned to my right and I see her before she escapes. Her Beta looks at her retreating back, feeling utterly betrayed, but gives the order for their wolves to retreat.
Two women come walking into the battlefield while the rest of the wolves retreat. I remember one, the youngest of the Hemming brood, Leia. She was once the anointed Dark Witch of The Rogue Lord, however she vanished. Apparently, she had joined the daughter of Adella and has been restored to her young beautiful self. The two young women walk towards the daughter of Adella and stand in front of her to talk some sense into her.
"Hope, I know you're still in there. You have to fight him." Leia yells to the daughter of Adella.
"And if I like it this way?"
"Then we will have to pierce your heart." Thw other woman yells out loud. The daughter of Adellla didn't seem too happy with those words so she responds by setting the forest in the territory ablaze. She creates a ball of fire and throws it at the watchtower. The watchtower instantly goes up in flames. The daughter of Adella stares at the burning watchtower, mesmerized at the dancing flames she created. Then she looks down at the two young women standing in front of her and throws a ball of fire at them, too. Leia and her companion run for cover behind a tree, the ball narrowly missing them, hitting the ground where they once stood.
"I will kill all of you. I will destroy every thing in this world." The daughter of Adella throws another fireball and it hits the Hemming Mansion. Everything was burning; black smoke rose into the sky covering the stars and the moon.
I mind link my second in command to retreat and enter the next state and hide. The daughter of Adella was killing off everyone and destroying everything that got in her way.
"There is no hope." The daughter of Adella raised her arms and everything around us, started to burn.
I ran, barely escaping the flames. My fellow wolves also sprinted as fast as the could to get away from the fire. The faint whimpering and moans could be heard all around while the territory was engulfed by the clouds of smoke that rose up to meet the sky and I shiver.
What will become of our future? My heart starts racing with fear picturing everywhere in smoke.
Our future was in peril.
_____
(Maria POV)
The Being continued to throw fireballs from her hands, burning everything in her midst, while Leia and I hid from her behind a big tree on the territory. I for one, didn't want to become a barbecue so, I told Leia we should keep ourselves hidden.
"Are you hiding from me?" We both looked at each other, the familiar voice making us quiver in fear. I admit, I was too scared to even turn around, but I had to. When I turned to face her, there she was, soaring in the air, her white hair flowing in the wind, and her eyes...were the eyes of a monster.
"Come here." The Being opens her hands and unseen force drags me to her until my throat is in her grasp. Leia tried to stop her, but she was knocked aside by a wave of a hand. The Being brings my face close to hers, her red-eyes staring intently into mine. "I want to know what you know." She tries to gaze into my eyes, searching for answers, but I avert them causing her to tighten the grip she had around my throat. "Hold still or I'll break your neck," she utters, still trying to gaze into my eyes. I finally give in, her grasp so tight I was struggling to breathe. After a few minutes of peering into my eyes, her eyes widen in shock and she suddenly lets go of my throat, allowing me to fall to the ground with a resounding thud. Gasping for air, I hurriedly stand and walk unsteadily to where Leia was lying on the ground. I help her up so we could flee while The Being was preoccupied.
"The one with silver eyes and the yellow-tipped spear! They are at the fortress!" I heard it say and whoosh, she soars in the air and flies towards the direction of The Rogue Lord's fortress. I groan.
The Being is going after Jacques!
