Chapter 79 Big Max and Berkeley

(Hope POV)

When I touched Max's shoulder, I saw glimpses of his past. He was a teenager when The Rogue Lord found him, big and burly, at a territory of a pack which The Rogue Lord exterminated. Because of his heavy built, The Rogue Lord adopted him as his right hand man, trained him and taught him his sadistic ways. However, deep down Max was a kindhearted soul and only followed orders to ensure his own status. I felt the struggle in him. He wanted to have a normal life, yet he himself could not let go of the loyalty he felt for The Rogue Lord. He was unsure if he could ever live a normal life. He already had done well for himself as Beta and if he were to change alliances, he might fall into the place of a slave. He didn't want that.

He was out of the fortress surveying the defenses of the packs the Rogue Lord wished to slaughter. He also wanted to meet me and see if I were friend or foe. I tried to read him some more, but something was blocking me from seeing. It was somehow intentional.

"The Rogue Lord plans to attack 2 packs simultaneously on the night of the Harvest Moon, Blue Moon and Midnight Moon. Both packs have caught the ire of The Rogue Lord as both former Alphas have failed in their missions. After their extermination, The Rogue Lord plans to exterminate Autumn Moonlight for their failure to produce the number of enhanced she-wolves they had agreed upon." He told us.

"I will be leading the extermination of Blue Moon. With the fortress mostly abandoned, I have asked my mate to lead the slaves to escape to Crescent Moon." He told me, hoping I would agree to adopt them all. "These slaves are both humans and wolves. I hope you can provide for all of them."

"I will provide for them as long as they want peace. How many slaves?"

"Around 300." He answered. "My mate, her name is Anna. She will have a note written in my hand to give to you when she arrives in your territory. Master Red, he knows my Anna."

"And what about you? Master Red and 60 others who accompanied The Butler and your Gamma in New York have already joined my pack. They are currently building more homes for those who would like to join." I saw his eyes widen at the knowledge so many have joined, however he covered his surprise with an austere look.

"When I know Anna is safe, I will defect. I am here only because I was sent to scout Blue Moon territory. I sneaked Lucy out so I could bring her to Crescent Moon. I must return. You will take care of my Lucy, yes?" He looks at me begging.

"Of course. You have my word. She will be under the care of Master Red who is now part of my pack." I assure him. "Here, take this." I hand him one of my necklaces that I had made which had the crescent moon. "Give this to Anna so she can show it to my men when she arrives at my territory." He takes it and puts it in his pocket.

"Thank you. Lucy knows how to contact me if you need me. Do not worry. Lucy has no implant. I myself removed it before we left. I shall take my leave now." He stands up.

"Take the helicopter. It will bring you to where you need to go." Hope offers him.

"Again, thank you." He bows his head and walks to the helicopter. They take off and I look at Alexander  He had a wistful look on his face.

"You were hoping he'd join my pack, huh?" I ask Alexander. He nodded his head.

"Did you see the size of that wolf? He's as big as The Rogue Lord!" He gushes out loud.

"I know. He would be a HUGE asset to my pack. Everyone would be scared of him."

"I was scared just by looking at him. Maria, Leia, did you ever know?" Oliver asked the two Priestesses.

"That he had a soft side? No. I've seen him bash a wolf's head in." Maria answered.

I take Lucy's hand. "You must be hungry and would want a change in clothing." I gave Leia a dirty look. "Come. I promised your father I would take care of you." I guide Lucy into the building and give Mark a look as I pass him. He nods his head slightly in my direction.

(Alexander POV)

While the women took charge to take care of Lucy, I went to see Berkeley to get him to talk. The Elders are very particular, they never want to talk unless it is to an Alpha or someone of stature.

I had created prison cells of silver in a few of the rooms in my building just in case I needed it. His was located 2 floors down.

He was seated in the middle of the cell obviously irritated he was being treated badly. Yuri was on the couch eating breakfast. I take a chair, place it near the cell and sit down.

"Alpha Alexander, what do you think you are doing? The Council will have your head for this."

"I want answers. Why are you supplying The Rogue Lord with tracking implants?"

"So we can track them, you idiot!" He snarled at me.

"We? You mean the Clan of Wolves? Does anyone else on the Clan know you are supplying these implants? The High Elder perhaps?"

"The High Elder knows. He was the one who told me to supply The Rogue Lord with the implants."

"So why leave the country?" I asked him, taking out my phone.

"I had business in Brunei."

"With no plans of returning?"

"I was to return later in the year. For Christmas." He answers quickly.

"Take off your clothes." I tell him. "Or I will have my mate do it for you."

"I most certainly won't. How dare you!" He tells at me.

"Ok. Have it your way." I mind link Hope to come to the room. "She will be here in a bit." He scoffs at me.

The door opens and in walks Hope. "Hope, the is Council Elder James Berkeley. He is the one who supplies the implants to The Rogue Lord." Hope nods her head in acknowledgment. "He doesn't want to strip. I need you to do it for him."

"I see. If you are a traitor, you will have a wound from betraying the secret chamber." Hope waves her hand and his clothes and shoes vanish. He sat there naked.

"There, on your hip. You keep it stitched up so it will not open." Hope tells him. I look at where she pointed and he had a small cut with stitches on it. I take a picture of him. Hope waves her hand again and he now was fully clothed.

"Call the High Elder. Tell him we have found his traitor. " Hope instructs me.

"I am no traitor. I told you, Alpha Alexander, the High Elder knows." He laughs. "When I get out, I will have both of you punished for this."

The cell door opens and Hope walks in and touches the arm of the Elder. He tried to move, but he couldn't. Hope had pinned him down with her magic. She gasps and abruptly releases Berkeley's arm. "I have got to stop him." She utters.

"Call on the helicopter, Alexander. We need to leave right away." Hope mind links me.

(Max)

The Butler was right. The daughter of Adella was naive. She accepted Lucy without protest. Now I have a spy in the territory and insurance if The Rogue Lord fails, I can deflect to Crescent Moon.

I instructed the pilot to drop me off at any building with a helipad. From there, I will go to where I need to go, just in case the daughter of Adella asks where I disembarked.

I exit the building and look for my bearings. I find a street sign and figure out my location. I walk towards a building used as a hideout when the army needs to be in Seattle.

I enter the building and waiting for me was a small woman.

"Are you finished with your personal business?" The woman said.

"Not yet, however it will be finished as I go through my transactions for this day."

" Very well. I will now cast an invisibility spell on you." She places a hand on my forearm and utters some words.

"There. You can move around without being noticed. However, do move carefully." She instructs me.

"I will." I assure her.

(Lucy POV)

I was done taking a shower in the warm water and smelled like flowers. There were some clothes folded nicely on top of the counter for me to change in and a pair of sneakers on the floor. I put on the blue colored tee, jeans, socks and shoes. I combed my wer hair and looked at myself in the mirror. No longer did I look like a vagabond on the street nor did I smell like one. I took the necklace Miss Hope had given me and put it around my neck. She said it was a symbol that I now belonged to her pack.

I put my old dirty clothes in a garbage bag thought about Miss Hope. All my life we were taught she was the enemy and now I was with the enemy, tasked to report her every move.

I walk out of the bathroom and into the apartment and see Maria, Ava and Leia waiting for me with some food. I looked around searching for Miss Hope, but she was not with us.

"Where's Miss Hope?" I ask.

"Alpha Hope to you, Lucy." Maria gently reminds me. "She has business to attend to."

"Where?" I ask, sitting down at the table. I start putting some food on my plate.

"Here in the building. This is Ulrich headquarters. Alpha Alexander owns this building." Ava answers me.

"Will she come back here?"

"I doubt it. She has instructed us to go shopping for new clothes for you to wear." Leia looks at me wondering why I was asking so many questions.

"I was just asking since my father entrusted me to her. I should be beside her all the time." I explained.

"Darling, you're with us. We are her extension. Now eat up so we can go buy your things." Maria tells me.

My first day and I can't even get any answers. This is going to be harder than I thought.
