Chapter 19 Did You Bully Her?
Trista's brows furrowed, and her expression turned cold. She felt that Matthew's persistence was just looking for trouble!
With a business-like attitude, she spoke in a distant tone, "Sorry, Aletta hasn't come. She's still not feeling well."
Matthew's face darkened. "What, is she in the hospital too?"
"Yes." Trista quickly replied, reminding him, "Our company has no intention of cooperating with the Myers Group. We have already declined once before."
When Matthew noticed Trista's reluctance to associate with the Myers Group, he expressed his dissatisfaction, saying, "You are just an assistant. It's not up to you to decide whether to cooperate or not."
Matthew leaned back in his seat with a haughty expression, exuding a hint of laziness. "I'm here with enough sincerity this time. The Zelin Company has just started in the domestic market and has no market share or channels for fragrances. Eighty percent of the perfume and fragrance channels are dominated by the Myers Group.
"Therefore, if you cooperate with me, I can provide a lot of unexpected benefits and shortcuts to the Zelin Company. Compared with cooperating with the Porter Group, it's much more cost-effective.
"I don't think a smart person would refuse such a good opportunity."
After speaking, Matthew reached out his hand. And Colby, who was behind him, handed him a document.
Matthew took it and casually threw it on the coffee table.
Hearing these words, Trista thought for a few seconds and really couldn't refute it...
Matthew was right. The Zelin Company had just started, and many channels needed to be opened up.
Originally, Trista planned to rely on the Porter Group. But now Matthew showed that 80% of the spice channels on the market were owned by the Myers Group.
Not to mention anything else, just the research and development process required the use of spices, which was a bottomless pit!
This was a problem that had to be taken into consideration.
If fragrances were purchased from other channels, the price could be incredibly high. For the Zelin Company, it would undoubtedly be a pressure.
However, Trista didn't believe that Matthew would be so kind as to give away so many benefits for free.
Trista looked at Matthew's cold and handsome face and asked, "Mr. Myers, what are your conditions? Do you want our research formula, or..."
After pausing for a moment, Trista continued, her tone tinged with sarcasm. "Or you want Aletta to treat Myra's leg."
Trista hadn't forgotten what happened at the banquet last night.
She could only think of one thing that would require Matthew to go through so much trouble!
Matthew's face stiffened, and his eyes drooped slightly.
Seeing Matthew's expression, Trista gave a cold smile, her beautiful face full of detachment as she said emotionlessly, "It seems to be the latter. Okay, I will relay this to Mr. Myers. If there's nothing else, I'll go back to work now. Take care."
When Matthew heard Trista addressing him as "Mr. Myers" in a cold and distant manner as if she wanted to distance herself from him, he felt a strong sense of displeasure and immediately stood up and said in a cold tone to Trista, who was about to leave, "Of course, it's for her. Do you think it's for you?"
As soon as he finished speaking, Matthew walked towards the door with a stern expression and left.
When Colby saw that Matthew, who had always been cold and ruthless, was now like a powder keg, he couldn't help but feel embarrassed.
Colby hesitated for a moment, looking at Trista.
In fact, Matthew did not come here for Myra.
If it was really for Myra, Matthew wouldn't have had to wait until now. He would have sent someone overseas to invite Aletta long ago.
However, given the current tense relationship between the two, it was not the time to explain.
Colby could only bid goodbye to Trista, then followed and left with Matthew.
Trista watched Matthew's departing figures, and it took a long time for her mood to calm down.
...
As soon as Matthew came out of the Zelin Company, a chill ran down his spine, and his face was terrifyingly gloomy.
The residual anger from earlier was still stuck in his chest!
Colby was in the driver's seat, trying to keep a low profile, as he cautiously asked, "Mr. Myers, should we go back to the company?"
Matthew's face was taut, and he didn't say a word for a long time. No one knew what he was thinking.
After a while, Matthew answered coldly, "Go to the hospital and check on my grandfather."
Fabian had been in poor health in recent years. He had been taking medicine all year round. A few days ago, he caught a cold and was sent to the hospital to recuperate.
Colby promptly stepped on the gas pedal, concentrating on driving.
They arrived at the hospital half an hour later.
As soon as Matthew entered the VIP ward, he saw Fabian and Ivan playing chess at the table.
When Ivan saw Matthew coming to visit, he was delighted and respectfully greeted him. "Mr. Myers, you are here?"
But Fabian's face was full of disgust. He glanced at Fabian and said unhurriedly, "What are you doing here instead of working hard?"
Fabian's tone carried a strange mix of sarcasm and bitterness.
"You still have a straight face. What's wrong? Who made you angry again? Come on, tell me."
When Matthew heard that, his mood, which had just eased a little, suddenly dropped to the freezing point, and he walked to the bedside.
Ivan consciously made way for Matthew. He was used to this scene.
Matthew sat on the opposite side of Fabian, casually grabbing some chess pieces.
After a while, Matthew picked up a chess piece between his fingers and slowly placed it on the board as he coldly said, "I'm here to see if you're still alive."
When Fabian heard this, a surge of anger rushed to his head, and he scolded loudly, "You unfilial grandson, how dare you curse me like this? You deserve to be bullied outside. I'm so angry!"
Matthew didn't respond and calmly made another move.
Fabian glared at Matthew before playing chess with him.
Fifteen minutes later, they had finished a round. Matthew had lost.
Fabian felt satisfied and quickly changed his demeanor. He smiled and said, "Another round. I won't let you off so easily. I need to teach you who's the best."
After that, Fabian finally asked, "Tell me, why are you looking so upset?"
Seeing that Fabian was in a good mood, Matthew glanced at the chessboard calmly.
It had taken Matthew a lot of effort to deliberately lose the game.
Matthew pursed his lips and said lightly, "Trista is back."
Fabian's eyes lit up. He immediately threw the chess piece onto the table and exclaimed, "Really? Is Trista back? When did she come back? Where is she now? Why hasn't she come to see me?"
Fabian fired a series of questions and, before waiting for Matthew to answer, suddenly frowned and asked, "How did you know she was back?"
Matthew finally had a chance to reply. "I met him at a banquet held by the Porter Group last night."
Fabian came to a sudden realization. "I see. It's been six years... That girl is finally back!"
Then, Fabian suddenly questioned, "Have you bullied her?"
