Chapter 23 I Like You Anyway

The situation of Nelly's mother was a bit complicated. Although Trista was well-prepared, she was still busy with piles of medical records until dark.
In the evening, Trista rubbed her tired eyes.
Nelly was nervous and apprehensive. She asked, "Trista, what do you think? Do you have confidence?"
Trista put down her hands, looked at Nelly, and said with a smile, "Yes. I'm 70% sure about your mom's surgery."
"Really?"
Nelly looked excited and hugged Trista. "Trista, I know it! With you here, there will be no problem!"
The two kids saw Nelly's eyes red with excitement and comforted Nelly thoughtfully.
"Nelly, my mom is the best doctor. Don't worry, your mom will be fine."
"Right!"
Nelly nodded and then remembered that they hadn't eaten dinner yet, so she said to the three of them, "Let's go. I'll treat you to dinner. I'm in a good mood tonight, so you can eat whatever you want."
"Really? Then... I want to eat a seafood feast!"
As soon as Eudora heard it, she immediately raised her hand and said.
Nelly readily agreed and said, "No problem. I know that there is a particularly delicious restaurant. Let's go!"
...
That night, they had a full meal.
Nelly went back to the hospital first because she wanted to accompany her mother.
And Trista took the two kids home.
As they arrived home, the two kids lay directly on the sofa.
"It's so delicious!"
Eudora touched her round belly with a satisfied face.
Finally, she made up for her regret of not being able to feast on delicious food at her father's place.
Trista couldn't help laughing as she watched her daughter regain her former vivacity. "You're finally back to normal, it's cuter like this. You really scared me two days ago."
Eudora got up from the sofa when she heard what Trista said and asked with a cute look, "Mommy, don't you like the way I looked before?"
"Of course not."
Trista sat down beside Eudora and pinched her milky cheeks. "In the past two days, you looked very quiet and cute. Although it is different from now, Mommy likes you anyway."
"Then that's good."
After hearing Trista's words, Eudora was relieved.
Then, using both hands and feet, Eudora climbed onto Trista's lap, hugged Trista's neck affectionately, and said seriously, "No matter what I become, Mommy, you must always like me. Otherwise, I will definitely be very sad!"
The little one in Trista's arms had a serious look on her face, which made Trista smile, and Trista's eyes became softer.
"Of course. My Eudora is so cute, how could I not like you?"
After holding the two kids and playing with them on the sofa for more than an hour, Trista took the two kids back to the room to take baths when the food was almost digested.
When going to bed at night, Trista slept a little restlessly. She had a dream.
In the dream, it was a fog where she couldn't see her fingers. And she heard the cry of the child.
First, there was a soft sob, and then the child was out of breath from crying.
Trista's heart clenched unconsciously, and she hurried forward.
Through the lingering fog, Trista finally saw the crying figure.
The little one, looking pitiful, was... Eudora!
Trista woke up suddenly. She sat up directly from the bed and quickly checked the two kids beside her.
However, the two kids slept soundly, and Eudora did not cry heartbroken as she did in the dream.
Fortunately, it was just a dream!
Trista didn't think too much, covered the two kids with a quilt, lay down, and continued to sleep.
Late at night, in the Vanny Villa.
Sitting on the bed, Ruby was crying out of breath.
Moody heard her crying and got up quickly.
"What's the matter, Ruby? Did you have a nightmare?"
Moody asked worriedly while patting Ruby's back to comfort her.
Ruby didn't respond and was still sobbing and crying.
Moody was silent for a while, then he asked again, "Is it because you left Mommy?"
When having dinner today, Moody noticed Ruby was depressed!
Ruby nodded.
She missed Mommy and wanted to be with Mommy.
"Hey, don't cry. We'll find another chance. We can discuss it with Boris and Eudora, and we can switch identities again, okay?"
Moody softly coaxed his little sister.
Ruby nodded again, but the tears still couldn't stop. Her little face was flushed from crying, and she looked very aggrieved.
Ruby was writing in the notebook.
[Daddy.]
"Okay, don't cry. I'll take you to Daddy."
While comforting Ruby, Moody took her hand and went to Matthew's room.
Matthew had always been a light sleeper, and he woke up when he heard the door being pushed open.
He got up and turned on the bedside light, and he saw two kids come in.
Tears were still hanging on Ruby's face, which made her look pitiful, and Matthew's heart tightened suddenly.
"What's wrong?"
"Ruby had a nightmare and kept crying."
Moody said to Matthew.
Matthew got out of bed directly, hugged Ruby in his arms, and softly coaxed her, "Don't be afraid, Ruby. Daddy is here."
Seeing Ruby slowly calming down, Moody planned to go back to his room.
But Matthew stopped him and said, "You should sleep here too."
Moody blinked, nodded, without refusing, and lay down on the bed proactively.
Matthew's heart softened when he saw it, and he helped Moody cover the quilt.
"You did well tonight. Now, sleep. Good night."
"Good night, Daddy."
Moody responded obediently and closed his eyes.
At night, Ruby still slept restlessly, and not long after closing her eyes, she woke up crying again.
As soon as there was any movement, Matthew immediately picked her up and coaxed her.
And so it went all night. The next morning, Ruby's face suddenly became abnormally red, and her temperature was very high.
Matthew raised his hand and touched her forehead, and he found that Ruby had a fever.
His eyes froze, and he immediately shouted out of the door, "Carey, find a doctor right away. Ruby is sick!"
Not daring to delay, Carey quickly contacted the family doctor.
The doctor didn't dare to delay, either, so he rushed over and did a checkup.
Fortunately, the situation was not very bad.
Just a normal fever, nothing serious.
But Matthew didn't take it lightly.
Children's bodies were very fragile, and even minor illnesses could easily become serious.
What was more, Ruby was a little weak in the constitution.
After the doctor left, Matthew asked someone to cook a pot of soft porridge, planning to cool it down and coax Ruby to eat it. And he didn't go to the company today.
At about ten o'clock in the morning, the doorbell rang.
Marilla heard that her precious granddaughter was sick, so she hurriedly brought Myra over to visit Ruby.
"How is it now? Is my baby Ruby seriously ill?"
Marilla looked worried.
Leaning on the sofa, Ruby looked very listless.
And Moody stood guard beside her.
Seeing the two children, Myra pretended to be worried. "Is Ruby feeling very uncomfortable? Is it serious?"
As Myra spoke, she reached out to touch Ruby's forehead.
However, the pungent smell of perfume on her body made Ruby feel uncomfortable, so Ruby frowned, then avoided Myra's hand, and nestled into Moody's arms.
Ruby's avoidance was too obvious, and Myra's hand froze in place.
Moody didn't make a sound and hugged Ruby very naturally, and he looked at Myra with a look of disgust.
