Chapter 27 Crashing Into the Arms

Upon hearing these words, Polly's face turned visibly pale with anger.
Polly pointed at Trista and cursed, "You... you little slut! Who taught you to speak to your elders like this? Do you have any manners left at all?!"
Trista looked at Polly, trembling with anger, and felt a sense of satisfaction.
Trista sneered and said, "Manners vary from person to person, and you don't deserve them."
After speaking, Trista turned around and walked away!
Polly continued to curse loudly behind Trista, "You bastard! Stop right there! Who are you to lecture me? If I had known that you would turn out like this, I would have strangled you when you were born!"
Trista didn't stop walking despite the angry insults hurled at her.
After getting into the car, Trista felt very sad.
Trista had thought that she wouldn't be affected by those words, but it turned out that she was not as calm as she had imagined.
Six years ago, when Trista was first brought back to the Bryant family, Trista had hoped for love from her parents.
However, Polly and her husband were extremely stingy towards Trista and never gave her anything.
After being kicked out of the house later on, Trista gave up on that desire for good.
Trista just didn't expect that six years later, they could still make her feel disgusting!
Trista's face looked very bad, and Trista even felt some stomach pain.
When Trista arrived at the hospital, Nelly was already waiting for her.
Nelly was shocked when she saw Trista's face. "What happened? Why do you look so bad? Are you feeling unwell?"
As Nelly spoke these words, it was filled with concern.
"Fine."
Trista waved her hand and said, "Maybe I didn't sleep well last night. I'll rest early tonight."
Trista then changed the subject. "Is your classmate available now? Let's discuss Auntie's illness first."
"Okay."
Nelly nodded without thinking too much.
...
On the other side, Ruby's fever had not subsided.
By nightfall, her temperature was even rising.
Matthew looked at the numbers on the thermometer and became very worried.
"Colby, prepare the car!"
Matthew shouted, starting to put a coat on Ruby and getting ready to go to the hospital.
"Daddy, I want to go too."
Moody followed closely behind, obviously concerned for his younger sister.
Matthew had no objections and took Moody to the car.
Upon arrival at the hospital, due to Colby having contacted with hospital beforehand, doctors were already waiting for them.
Soon enough, doctors prescribed medicine and arranged a VIP ward.
At the same time, they said politely, "Mr. Myers need not worry too much. After Young Miss receives an intravenous infusion, her fever should subside."
"Okay, thank you."
Matthew nodded in agreement before taking Ruby to the ward.
During the process of receiving intravenous fluids, Matthew and Moody stayed by Ruby's bedside, watching over Ruby.
Time slowly passed by.
Two hours later, after several bottles of medicine had been administered, Ruby's fever finally subsided.
Matthew touched Ruby's forehead, and it was still slightly warm.
But it is much better than earlier on.
However, Ruby had been sweating so much that her clothes were all wet.
After Matthew breathed a slight sigh of relief, he left the ward and told Colby, who was waiting outside, "Go back home and bring two sets of clean clothes for Ruby."
Ruby's skin was delicate and prone to allergies. Wearing hospital clothes would definitely make Ruby uncomfortable.
"Yes, Mr. Myers."
Colby immediately replied without any delay before leaving straightaway.
After Matthew watched Colby leave, he turned around and went to the wardroom again.
As a result, when Matthew turned around, he noticed something familiar walking by at the end of the corridor.
It seemed like... Trista?
Matthew paused for a moment in hesitation before striding forward toward Trista's direction as she left.
...
It had taken Trista more than two hours to finalize the surgical plan and time with Nelly's classmates.
The surgery was scheduled for next Wednesday!
Finally done, Trista felt a twinge of pain in her stomach.
In order not to worry Nelly, Trista hurried outside to get some fresh air, thinking that it would be better after a while.
Unexpectedly, just a few steps out and Trista's stomach started feeling even more uncomfortable.
Burning sensations surged up and made her feel very agonized. Even inducing an urge to vomit.
Trista leaned against the wall, taking short breaths.
Trista originally intended to go to the restroom, but the tearing pain struck again, causing her cold sweat to break out.
Trista couldn't bear it any longer and knelt directly on the floor with a pale face...
As Matthew walked over from behind without any preparation, he almost kicked Trista at the corner of the hallway.
Matthew was stunned for a moment before he quickly retracted his leg and looked down at Trista with a frown from a higher angle.
''What's wrong with you?
Did you drop something?'
Trista held onto her knees in pain, making her head feel slow because of how much it hurt.
Trista saw a pair of men's shoes appear in front of her eyes and stared blankly for a while.
Several seconds later, when Trista realized that the other party hadn't made any moves yet, Trista tried hard to hold back the stomach pain and managed to lift up her head.
In the next second, her line of sight collided with a pair of deep eyes...
Both of them were taken aback when they saw each other.
Trista didn't expect to encounter Matthew here.
Matthew was surprised by Trista's pale complexion like a ghost.
Matthew couldn't help but furrow his brows.
It had only been a few days, but Trista looked like a completely different person now.
"Why are you here?"
Trista asked first, after pausing for a moment.
"Why can't I be here?" Matthew replied coldly, suppressing the emotions in his eyes.
Trista also frowned and felt like she had asked a redundant question.
Trista thought, "It's not like you had anything to do with me being here anyways. And you weren't going to give me a friendly face... The feeling of pain even made me become stupid!"
Trista sneered at herself and decided not to say anything more. She supported the wall and tried to walk away.
Seeing Trista's appearance, Matthew frowned deeper and wondered about asking her what was going on.
However, before asking Trista, Matthew saw her staggering suddenly and almost falling down.
Matthew's heart tugged uncontrollably. And he almost reflexively reached out to hold Trista's waist.
Trista was already in pain, and her feet were weak. She thought she would fall down to the ground.
Unexpectedly, in the next second, Trista found herself softening into Matthew's arms.
Trista was stunned by this sudden change for a moment.
But soon Trista came back to her senses and immediately tried to break free from Matthew.
However, Matthew didn't let go.
Matthew looked down at Trista and asked in a low voice with seriousness, "What's wrong with you? With your complexion... If I didn't know any better, I would have thought you were dying."
Trista continued struggling while retorting coldly, "You're the one who's dying... Can you let me go?"
Trista's resistance made Matthew's expression even worse than before. Matthew's grip on Trista's waist was even tighter!
Trista was in pain from his grip, and her vision became dark.
But at the same time, Trista was confused by Matthew's behavior.
"What does he mean by this?" Trista thought.
Trista tried to figure it out, but her head involuntarily recalled what Polly had said to her that evening.
Trista's mood fell to the bottom of a valley and only left behind an icy cold!
Trista reluctantly regained her composure and coldly said to Matthew, "Mr. Myers, please let go of me. Don't forget that you have a girlfriend. If someone sees us together, it will damage my reputation."
Upon hearing these words, Matthew felt uncomfortable inside.
''What do you mean?
When did I have a girlfriend? Why didn't I know about it?
And what did you mean by it will damage my reputation?
Is it that difficult for you to accept being with me?' Matthew thought.
