Chapter 26 Birth Mother
Trista was taken aback and flashed a hint of disbelief in her eyes when she heard Colby's words.
How could that be possible?
Didn't Matthew consider Myra as his true love? How could Matthew miss the chance to cure Myra's leg?
Trista couldn't believe it!
Colby saw that Trista still seemed to refuse to talk. Colby quickly persuaded. "Miss Bryant, your company has just entered the domestic market, and you may not be very clear about the situation here. Although Porter Group could offer the same conditions, they couldn't access top-level spices.
"Because... Myers Group already monopolized the current top spices in the domestic market!"
After Trista listened to Colby's words, the terms she originally refused to say could not be spoken.
Trista really didn't expect this situation in the domestic market.
Zelin Company's perfume development mainly relied on high-end spices.
If they didn't have access to these sources, they would have to purchase them from abroad.
It would undoubtedly increase costs!
Trista suddenly hesitated.
Trista's rejection of Matthew was motivated by personal reasons.
However, from a public perspective, it would harm Nelly's interests.
The company was not just Trista's alone!
Compared with the Porter Group, it was indeed a better choice to cooperate with the Myers Group!
Seeing Trista's hesitation, Colby continued to persuade her.
Colby said, "Miss Bryant, everything I had said earlier was true. If you didn't believe me, you could ask someone else. Even the Porter Group's spices purchased from Myers Group."
Speaking of this, Colby had achieved his goal of coming here today and concluded with a final statement, "So Miss Bryant can let Miss West and Aletta consider it, and Myers Group will be waiting for your good news."
After finishing his speech, Colby left immediately!
Once Colby was gone, Trista stopped acting and leaned against the sofa with some irritation.
"In this case, what else are they waiting for?"
Didn't Zelin Company have to collaborate with Myers Group?
If Trista had known how difficult things would be after returning home, Trista wouldn't have set up a branch in the domestic market in the first place!
Trista became increasingly anxious until it was time for got off work.
In the evening, Trista was going to the hospital.
Nelly's mother's surgery couldn't be delayed any longer, and tonight they would finalize the surgery's time and details.
After packing her things, Trista went downstairs.
As soon as Trista left the company, she heard a familiar and slightly sharp voice.
"Trista? Is that really you?"
Trista subconsciously glanced over...
Trista saw someone unexpected had arrived.
It was her birth mother, Polly Bryant!
Trista had never expected Polly to show up here.
After all, they hadn't been in contact for six years. What did Polly want when she came suddenly?
Trista furrowed her brows, and her intuition told her that it wouldn't be good.
Trista didn't want to pay any attention to Polly, but Polly quickly rushed in front of Trista and looked her up and down.
Polly was surprised at the change in Trista.
When Polly saw Trista just now, Polly thought she had mistaken the person.
Unexpectedly, Polly didn't expect the change to be so drastic!
After being surprised for a while, Polly finally composed herself and said, "I called you. Didn't you hear me?"
Trista looked at Polly coldly and asked, "What brings you here?"
Polly heard Trista's tone and couldn't help but frown. Polly said, "I heard from Myra that you came back to the country. I thought it was false news, but it turned out to be true."
When Trista heard Polly use the intimate name "Myra," Trista immediately thought of a few years ago when this woman looked at her with disgust.
After so many years, nothing has changed.
"What? Do you have something to say?"
Trista's attitude wasn't very good, and she looked at Polly like a stranger.
Polly became displeased suddenly and walked a few steps closer to Trista before scolding, "What's with your attitude? I'm your mother, after all. When seeing me, can't you even say hello?"
Trista sneered after hearing that. "I don't remember when I ever had a mother like you. Isn't your daughter Myra?"
Who was disgusting here?
Polly choked for a moment, and her face stiffened.
However, soon enough, Polly said with a straight face, "Indeed, Myra is my daughter."
Trista's face became even colder. There was no warmth in her gaze as she looked at Polly.
"So what? Did Mrs. Bryant come all this way just to tell me this? It was unnecessary because I already knew about it six years ago."
After speaking, Trista didn't want to listen to anything else Polly had to say. Trista lifted her leg and was about to leave.
Upon seeing this, Polly felt a surge of anger for no reason and blocked Trista in front of her and said, "Trista, stop right there!"
Trista looked at Polly with impatience and said, "What do you want? Spit it out quickly. I'm busy and don't have time to deal with you here!"
"You..."
Polly was quite angry.
But Polly also felt that talking to Trista more was a waste of time. So Polly went straight to the point and said, "Okay, I won't beat around the bush. I came here today because I heard from Myra that you appeared at the Porter Group's banquet a few days ago and even met with Matthew!"
Without waiting for Trista's response, Polly's tone became sharp.
"Trista, let me warn you that Mr. Myers is now Myra's man. He is not someone like you who can rely on him. You better be smart and stay away from them! Don't do anything embarrassing!"
Embarrassing?
The look in Trista's eyes was cold enough to freeze.
Six years had passed, and Trista never thought that Polly would come knocking on her door just to say this.
Trista felt a little ridiculous and couldn't help but smirk as she sneered. "May I ask which eye of yours saw me relying on Matthew? Or did your precious daughter Myra tell you? Is Myra so afraid of me?"
Polly was taken aback by Trista's confident attitude and daring to argue back at her.
Polly regained her composure and sarcastically retorted, "What are you kidding about? Is Myra afraid of you? Dozens of times better than you in every aspect! How dare you say that! And how about looking into the mirror yourself first before criticizing others?"
Trista was not angry at Polly's words. Instead, Trista asked, "Since that's the case, what did you come here for?"
Polly was once again stumped by Trista's response and fumbled with her words for a while before finally saying to Trista. "Of course, I don't want you to ruin Myra's happiness again. If it's not yours, then don't even think about it. Know your identity!"
Trista's gaze turned icy.
Trista stared at Polly coldly.
"First of all, I hope you're clear about one thing! It was Myra who took my place and has been occupying the Bryant family until now. Of course, I'm not very interested in being a miss from the Bryant family.
"Secondly, the engagement between Matthew and me was originally mine! It was arranged by Grandpa Mr. Myers and my grandpa. There was no question of me stealing anything from Myra.
"Thirdly, I have never had the time or interest to ruin someone else's happiness. What is Myra? She is nothing to me but a waste of time.
"Finally, we have nothing to do with each other. Don't ever come to me with such an arrogant attitude again and warn me about anything. Who do you think you are?"
