Chapter 25 Matthew's Concern

After hearing this, Matthew was touched by something, and his face didn't look good.
Marilla tried to reason with Matthew and persuade him emotionally, "Matthew, Myra has waited for you for so many years. How much longer do you want Myra to wait? A girl's youth is limited. Myra is willing to be patient with you, but you won't give her a formal commitment. Do you want to keep dragging her along forever?"
Matthew's brow furrowed deeply, not liking what Marilla was saying.
Matthew responded coldly, "As for me and Myra, don't worry about it. I have my own plans."
"What plans do you have?"
Marilla spoke without reservation, "It's just dragging things out! I won't allow you to continue like this! You must set a wedding date with Myra as soon as possible. If you're too busy, I'll go to the Bryant family myself and help you arrange it!"
As Marilla continued speaking and her tone was uncompromising!
Matthew seemed to be patient have reached his limit and coolly raised his eyelids. His voice was icy cold as he said. "Then let me tell you today that I don't want you interfering in my marriage affairs. Whoever I want to be my wife and make that decision myself!"
After speaking, Matthew gave Marilla a cold glance and stood up before walking straight towards the door.
Outside the study, Myra held a plate of cut fruit tightly in her hand, her fingers turning red from exertion.
Myra had initially wanted to wait for the right opportunity before going in...
But Myra had been waiting all this time without getting any chance, only to receive Matthew's thought now.
Matthew made it clear that he didn't agree to marry Myra!
Why?
Sorrow surged in Myra's heart as her eyes were red. Myra looked at the man who had come out with a tearful voice full of grievances. Myra sobbed out. "Matthew..."
But Matthew didn't even give Myra a glance as he completely ignored Myra and walked away without looking back.
Marilla chased after Matthew as he left the study, only to find Myra standing at the door.
"Myra? When... When did you arrive?"
Marilla asked, noticing the tears in Myra's eyes.
Marilla immediately understood that Myra had overheard everything.
"Don't be upset, Myra. Matthew has always been that way. Don't take it to heart." Marilla reassured Myra.
Myra hung her head, looking pitiful and hurt as she said, "Maybe I didn't do well enough for Matthew to..."
Before Myra could finish her sentence, Marilla interrupted her.
"What are you talking about?"
Marilla took Myra's hand, giving it a reassuring pat to show encouragement. "You're so great. How could you not be good enough?"
Marilla continued. "If you're not good enough, who is? Trista with her venomous heart? She's not even qualified!"
Trista!!!
The sound of Trista's name was extremely harsh to Myra, and Myra's heart was instantly ignited with anger.
For some reason, Myra felt like half of the reason why Matthew hadn't agreed to their engagement was because of bitch Trista's influence.
The other half was because of those two children of that bitch!
Even if Myra had waited for six long years, it was all for naught!
Myra's eyes were gloomy, and she immediately blamed all six years of grievances on Trista.
''Trista, if you don't know any better, then don't blame me!
Have you already forgotten how miserable you were when you left back then?
It doesn't matter. I can make you leave again...' Myra thought.
The two of them didn't notice Moody, who was standing not far away with a delicate frown and a cold expression similar to Matthew's.
''As expected, even though father had spoken out, my grandmother still insisted on pushing Myra onto father.
I can't just sit back and watch my father get engaged to Myra, especially now that I know about Mommy's existence.'
Thinking of this, Moody couldn't help but feel melancholy.
"If my parents hadn't divorced, it would be good. Ruby and I could have grown up together with our siblings..."
As thought of this, Moody suddenly had an idea.
''What if... I could help bring my parents together?
Despite my father's occasional lack of warmth, my father had always been caring towards me and Ruby over the years.
Suppose I need to leave my father and go to Mommy's side. I... am actually a bit reluctant.'
As Moody pondered this, Moody wandered to the door of Matthew's room.
Coincidentally, Moody heard Matthew say from inside the room. "Go find out why Aletta refused to cooperate."
Colby didn't expect that Matthew would be so persistent on Aletta.
Colby hesitated before speaking up, "Mr. Myers, I think... The reason Aletta refused might be related to Miss Bryant."
Moody stopped in his tracks upon hearing this and pricked up his ears to listen carefully.
Were they really talking about Mommy?
Matthew immediately pictured Trista's delicate face upon hearing her name.
Matthew was perplexed and asked, "What happened?"
Colby replied truthfully, "That day, you said that the price for cooperating with Zelin Company was curing Myra's legs. Back then... Didn't Trista have a conflict with Myra because of that?
"One said it was pushed while the other denied it! Now that Trista is working under Aletta's leadership, I'm sure she's upset about it too. So it's normal for Aletta to refuse."
Hearing this reasoning made Matthew believe that this was indeed a likely reason for Aletta's refusal.
Colby looked at Matthew's serious face, thought for a while, then suggested, "Actually, this is an easy matter to solve."
Matthew looked over and motioned Colby to continue.
Colby said, "You can just tell them that Aletta doesn't have to cure Myra's legs since Myers Group's goal was to cooperate from the beginning."
Matthew pondered for a few seconds and thought that this was indeed the most straightforward solution.
Matthew then turned to Colby and said, "What are you waiting for?"
Colby immediately understood and turned to leave. "I'll do it now."
Meanwhile, Moody, who was outside the door, hastily hid and digested what he had just heard.
''Was it true?
Father is actually trying to find ways to cooperate with Mother's company.
This doesn't seem like something my father will do!
Could it be...
Father still had feelings for Mother after all these years?'
After getting this conclusion, Moody's mind raced with possibilities.
"If my parents got back together, Ruby and I would finally have a mother again, and we could stay with our siblings forever!"
Moody couldn't help but dream of a happy life with six family members...
In an instant, Moody was determined now more than ever to bring his parents together.
...
On the afternoon of that day, at the top level of Zelin Company.
Trista thought that after rejecting Myers Group's proposal, they would give up completely.
However, Anne informed Trista that Myers Group's people had come.
When Trista heard this, she was a headache. Trista couldn't help but curse to herself, "Does Matthew endless?"
However, after scolding, Trista went to the reception room despite her reluctance.
This time, Trista was prepared to face Matthew directly. However, only Colby showed up.
Colby saw Trista and smiled politely, explaining, "Mr. Myers was afraid of causing unnecessary misunderstandings and asked me to come to explain things instead.
"Myers Group's proposed cooperation does not require Aletta's treatment, only the formula for a perfume. We hoped Miss Bryant could pass it on to Miss West and Aletta.
"As long as you agree to cooperate, our Myers Group promises that we would like to provide 100% convenience access to perfume ingredients and even offer discounts in return."
