Chapter 10
I along with the other members of The Jackal departed using your airship in a state-of-the-art one that was intended to carry out robbery missions against other Mutiiner groups.
In a world like this, there is no longer a military term developed by the government, even the government that regulates a country or a certain region no longer exists, everything is replaced by a new systematic system that is formed on an emergency basis based on the survival instinct of humans.
In simple terms, this system is not much different from the law of the jungle, where the strongest survives and controls the territory. If a group of Mutiiner does not have an adequate supply of weapons and does not have a large group, then it is certain that the group will be colonized and plundered by other groups.
It does not really affect the members of the group there, but those who experience the greatest impact are the leaders of the group, most Mutiiner group leaders who have been colonized by other Mutiiner groups will experience oppression and are rarely accepted by the Mutiiner group that controls the weaker group.
This is because the leader of the stronger Mutiiner group does not want the risk of betrayal occurring internally due to other leaders remaining in the group.
I don't know how systematic Jhonny was when he was looting other groups. But certainly the main goal of this group is to loot the contents of other Mutiiner group bases and take the supplies that are there.
Even though I lived once quite a long time in a world that experienced significant changes in technological development like this, I was still amazed when I entered a transportation device that was so sophisticated like this.
"Isn't it dangerous to cross enemy territory freely without pulling over to a place that can serve as a blind spot? If we're too easy to be monitored through surveillance cameras or radar lenses then we might get caught by the enemy," I said worriedly.
"Hm? What are you talking about young lady?"
A woman who looked like she was 32 years old put her arm around my shoulders and leaned toward me so casually.
"Yeah... I mean..."
I was quite awkward because we hadn't met in person before. I had seen her in the technology division as one of the members of the technology division. I was starting to worry that something I said might offend her just now, so I couldn't answer her question with a straightforward answer. I might make a mistake if I answered too much.
"You don't need to think of me like that, Miss. Anticipation is necessary in conducting a mission but being timid is not advisable," the woman said. "Oh, I haven't introduced myself yet, my name is Miranda. You want to know what I'm talking about? Let me show you."
I didn't understand what she was saying, what was she trying to show me? Was there anything to show me now? Did I just miss a performance that was supposed to be performed by them?
To fulfill my curiosity with the answer I wanted, I chose to remain silent and observe what Miranda was doing in front of the monitor screen with so many buttons on it. Upright like the manual buttons on a 21st century machine but the buttons here even looked like invisible powder, the holograms here were a feast for the eyes but not for the technologically challenged brain.
The plane carrying us all crossed what is known as the territory of the Mutiiner Moon Shark group. This group is known to be quite violent and I'm not sure if this mission will go smoothly and easily considering the group's power level is not small either.
As the newest member here, I feel that I have a lot of responsibility because this is the first impression that I will give to this group in completing my first mission. If I make a mistake and disrupt the performance of the other members then I will be known as a problem member.
Joni might even think of selling me again like my parents and Michael did.
The thought of being dumped by the previous people in my life made me have the worst expectations of myself and blame myself for it all. I thought that if I was dumped by a group of people or people I knew, it meant that I hadn't given anything good and useful to them. Hence the burden of disappointment kept hanging over me as if it was my fault.
"Don't daydream, Miss. You'll miss something interesting," said the tomboyish yet sexy woman.
I winced and grinned as she snapped me out of my reverie. I then turned my focus to what was happening outside this plane. Chances are Miranda was looking to entertain me with her awesomeness that she was channeling through this plane.
I saw the outposts hidden at several points through the tech goggles I was wearing. These goggles are deliberately supplied to every member who goes on a mission in order to expand their range of vision and be able to see in an unusual way. As a result, I was able to detect the presence of humans who were standing guard at guard posts located in hidden areas.
We were now passing through a territory that was shaped like a desert but had many high cliffs made of stone, within which were hidden posts used to monitor the state of their territory, the territory belonging to the Mutiiner Moon Shark group.
My heart was beating faster than usual. Anxiety and bad predictions started to pop up in my mind. You see, from my vision through the goggles I was using, there was no movement from the enemies who were guarding the hidden outposts. That raised some questions in me.
"They... They can't see us?" I wondered.
Miranda who was right beside me smiled meaningfully. She looked like she had predicted this and knew everything. Is this what the surprise was all about?
"Apparently you just realized it. But it's okay at least I don't have to explain it to you and you'll understand it on your own. This aircraft can be invisible to the enemy because it has invisible technology. And even if it uses geothermal radar technology or technology to detect the body temperature of humans in the vicinity, they can still detect our presence in this plane because I have also prepared counters for such trivial technologies."
