Chapter 34
After The Jackal managed to turn the tide by stealing the energy source from MFH, it looked like victory was in sight. However, in the eerie silence, Michael smiled slyly. He knew full well that this situation wouldn't last long. With a backup plan that he had carefully prepared, Michael secretly signaled to his secret army.
Soon, a strange rumbling sound began to be heard in the distance. The ground trembled quietly, but it was enough to cause fear among the members of The Jackals. Jhonny realized something was wrong.
"What's going on?" he asked as he looked around, his eyes narrowed in alarm.
Miranda at his side immediately activated their surveillance system. "There is a major movement outside the base," he said, his voice sounding tense. "This is no ordinary attack."
On the other side of the battlefield, Michael stood tall, with a triumphant smile. "You think this is over?" he exclaimed, his voice echoing across the field. "I won't lose that easily!"
Suddenly, out of the shadows, a large, inhuman-looking army appeared. They were mutants - beasts resulting from the genetic mutation Michael had performed with the alien technology he had acquired. The army moved fast, with terrifying strength. Their skin was armored, their eyes were fiery red, and their bodies were twice the size of ordinary humans.
"Mutants," Miranda hissed, her eyes wide. "He used alien technology to create them. What's in that guy's mind? He created something so horrible."
Jhonny clenched his fists, his teeth chattering. "He's really crazy. This person is a very violent person, how could he do such a thing when this is a very heinous act. If I were him I wouldn't have the heart to do such things."
This new attack was much more dangerous than before. The mutant army began to storm The Jackal's headquarters with unparalleled force. The automatic weapons, which had just been activated with the additional energy source from Alice, began to feel less effective. The mutants seemed to be immune to many of their attacks.
"They're too strong!" one of The Jackal's members shouted as he saw their shots having no effect on the approaching mutant army.
Alice, who was not far from Jhonny, suddenly remembered something. She rewound her memory, recalling a document she had found when she was still part of MFH. The document contained information about the secret technology Michael was using-one of which was an alien effectiveness gate located in a hidden basement.
"I know how to stop them!" Alice exclaimed suddenly, her voice full of confidence.
Jhonny turned his head, looking at Alice expectantly. "What do you mean?"
"There's a secret gate in the MFH headquarters," Alice explained quickly. "That gate is the energy source that allows these mutations to occur. If we can destroy the gate, these mutants will lose their powers."
Jhonny frowned, digesting this information. "And how can we destroy it? God I'm so dizzy right now."
Alice looked at Jhonny with determined eyes. "I'll do it. I'm the only one here who knows where the gate is. Trust me, I know about it."
Jhonny immediately shook his head, his face serious. "No, it's too dangerous. You can't go there alone, Alice. Michael must have set up a trap around that gate."
"But it's the only way!" Alice retorted in an urgent tone. "If we don't destroy the gate, they'll keep attacking and we'll lose!"
Jhonny looked deeply at Alice. He knew how stubborn this girl was, but also didn't want to jeopardize her life. "I won't let you go alone," he said firmly. "If you go, I'll go with you."
Alice paused, surprised to hear Jhonny say so. "Jhonny, this is too dangerous for you too. You need to lead The Jackals. They need me to stop the gate, but they need you here."
However, Jhonny remained firm. "The Jackals can survive without me for a while. But I won't let you go there alone. You need help too."
Alice looked doubtful for a moment. She knew Jhonny was right, but she didn't want to put Jhonny in danger. But before Alice could answer, the voices of the other members of The Jackal began to ring out.
"Jhonny's right, Alice!" one of the members exclaimed excitedly. "You need support. Don't do this alone."
"You're one of us, Alice!" another member shouted. "We'll all fight together."
Alice felt her heart being touched. All her life, she had always felt alone, even when she was in MFH. However, in The Jackal, for the first time she felt genuine togetherness. All the members of The Jackal supported her, and even though they knew the dangers that lurked, they were not willing to leave her alone.
Alice looked down for a moment, thinking deeply. Then, with a deep breath, she nodded. "Okay," she said softly. "We'll do it together."
Jhonny smiled slightly, relieved that Alice had finally agreed. "We'll be leaving soon. We have to make the most of our time so that we don't waste the opportunity we have. The 1 second of time we have is precious now."
Before leaving, Jhonny stood in the center of the base, looking at each member of The Jackal with a serious gaze. "Listen to me carefully," he said in a firm voice. "We may be facing the biggest challenge ever. But remember, we are The Jackals. We don't give up, no matter how big the threat in front of us."
All members of The Jackal nodded in unison, showing their loyalty and fighting spirit. They had a glimmer of hope that they could use to fight for what was left of them now. Although they were already in a very precarious situation, their names did not burn out because they still had hope.
"You all need to stay here," continued Jhonny. "Protect our base to the last man standing. Alice and I will stop their power source."
Miranda, who was usually a calm and rational person, approached with a worried face. "Jhonny, you have to be careful. Michael is not someone to be underestimated."
Jhonny nodded, understanding Miranda's concern. "I know, Miranda. You take care of everything here."
After giving final instructions to the members of The Jackal, Jhonny and Alice set off towards the intended location. Amidst the chaos and explosions that continued to rain down on the base, they managed to get out of the battle and head towards the MFH headquarters.
The journey to the basement was not easy. They had to get through the ruins and sporadic attacks from the remaining MFH troops. Jhonny and Alice moved quickly and carefully, making sure they were not caught by enemy patrols.
After some time, they finally arrived near the location of the secret gate. Alice, who had seen a sketch of the MFH headquarters, immediately recognized the path they should take. "This way," she whispered to Jhonny, pointing towards a large metal door half-hidden behind the rubble.
Jhonny nodded, leading the way into the room. They passed through dark hallways filled with dust and damp smells. Each step was harder, for they knew that behind the next door, their greatest enemy awaited.
Finally, they arrived in front of the underground room in question. A large metal door blocked their way, but Alice quickly found the mechanism to open it. As the door swung open, they were greeted by a shocking sight.
Inside the room, there stood a large device that emitted a faint blue light. It was the alien effectiveness gate, the power source that Michael had been using to mutate humans into mutants.
"We have to destroy it," Alice said in a determined voice.
Jhonny nodded. "Okay, let's do this."
However, before they could move any further, Michael's laughter echoed through the darkness. "Do you really think you can stop this?"
Michael emerged from the shadows, a sly smile on his face. He knew that this was the final fight. But Jhonny and Alice were also prepared for any risk.
