Chapter 13

It turned out that inside the main room of the headquarters, our colleagues were already there, but the situation was not as pleasant as we imagined. They were bound and held hostage by members of the Mutiiner Moon Shark group.

We don't know what happened to put them in that situation. But surely this group was strong enough to overwhelm us and make it difficult for us to carry out the robbery mission here.

"Alice, it seems that we are out of luck this time. But since only the two of us are left, then the two of us must be at the forefront to save our comrades in there," Miranda said quietly as if whispering.

I nodded in understanding as an expression that I agreed with Miranda's words. I wanted to encourage her as much as she encouraged me, but I admit that I'm not the type of person who can easily say such words in front of others.

"Finally the remaining two people came too."

We weren't surprised to hear the greeting that first came out of one of the people's mouths. Did that mean they already knew the total number of us?

"You think this headquarters doesn't have technology equivalent to yours? Of course we do. Don't be silly, we can't survive without having adequate preparations. You are the ones who have been trapped by entering our territory."

Miranda and I exchanged glances and we then looked at the man again. On his shirt was a name tag that read, William D. Emorny. Instantly after reading the name on the name tag, Miranda's eyes rounded bigger than before.

"Miranda, do you know that person?" I asked.

Miranda nodded. "Yes, a person who is quite famous for his expertise in playing with technology. He created a lot of breakthroughs in technology, even for very complicated things. Actually, I still have a lot to learn. Do you know who I used as a role model for your enthusiasm in creating the tools you guys use?"

I just looked at Miranda and waited for her to continue.

"Yes, he's who I look up to as a role model whenever I make a judgment in doing technological research. He's a very great person and I didn't expect him to join this Mutiiner group," Miranda said.

"Hahaha, you're right."

Suddenly, the man named William laughed and interrupted our conversation.

"I deliberately chose this group because this Mutiiner group has a very potential power. And sure enough, in the two years that I've been in this group, it's really taken off and beaten other groups like a pack of lions that took over the jungle in no time at all."

William cleared his throat and continued speaking again. "And you guys from the small and weak Mutiiner band of raiders expect to rule over us? It seems you dreamed so long that you forgot to wake up and realize who you really are."

I saw Miranda's hands clenched into fists, I'm sure Miranda must have taken great offense to that remark because she was a member of The Jackal group who had been in the group for a long time and had accompanied Jhonny throughout the group's existence.

Moreover, Miranda and William can be regarded as rivals in the same field. Because they are both originators and developers of technology in their respective headquarters. That is why Miranda felt very stunned and offended by the remarks made by William against our group.

"Alice, you have to move again I'm keeping William here. I'm sure you can do that. You have to go to the energy source core in this base and disrupt all the systems here. Then it will disrupt all the security systems and it will make it easier for our allies to enter and attack because you have sent a signal to them that this is an emergency signal."

This was out of my control because I had no idea that there would be such an impromptu plan. Although we never planned anything before leaving here.

This is absolutely ridiculous and crazy at a time when I have to play a very important role for the success of this plan. If I fail to carry out the responsibility that I have to hold this time then it would be tantamount to killing all of my colleagues since they are all depending on me at this point.

If I can't break the system in this base and make it lose its systematic security well then it will make it difficult for our allies to come and help us carry out this robbery mission. That would be the end of us all as we would be taken captive by this group and who knows what would happen to us.

But on the one hand I couldn't leave Miranda here because she was surrounded by so many people including William. How could I possibly leave her who is a woman and she has to fight so many people here.

"Don't think too much, Alice. I know you must be worried about me but just stop your naive thinking because even if you are here it won't really add anything either so it's better for you to go according to my directions just now if you really want to help me. That's the best way for you to help me because there's no way the two of us can go there for now if we're still blocked by them like this."

I swallowed harshly. Nervousness was exploding inside my chest like an archipelago of black smoke ready to explode from a volcano. I was suddenly nauseous and wanted to vomit because of the nervousness that was forcing me to expel the contents of my stomach right now.

I repeatedly turn my head towards the outer door and also Miranda, I don't know which one to choose, even my legs are confused whether to step to the left or right.

"Quickly or not at all."

"Again where is the place that I should go to since I don't know the ins and outs of this base?"

"I've already spread out the tools used to find out the location point in this base and just follow the coordinates I sent you then it will take you to where you should go."

Once again, I wanted to help Miranda here but if that was the case then I was forced to leave her here alone. Hopefully our colleagues who are still unconscious will wake up soon and be able to help Miranda who is holding them all.

"I'll go first," I said.
