CHAPTER 10

Chandler had no choice but to create a clone to extract blood and cells to cure their beloved daughter. He slammed his hand on the desk, enraged. She, too, was a human being; nothing about her screamed clone, so why did they treat her that way?
Chandler was a fiery and hot-tempered kind of guy and learning about his wife's background shook him to his core. He knew that if he wanted to know the truth, he had to either kidnap a member of the Drysdale family or question Vanity herself.
But by asking her, he would be putting everything on the line, and he didn't want to bring up those bad memories. He'd witnessed her being tormented by her nightmares. He didn't feel good about the potholes in Vanity's life because he was a businessman who was used to having complete control over everything.
He now has some information about her clone's identity, but he has no idea how she became a vampire. He deduced from her gibberish that they attempted to kill her and that she should have died, which is one of the reasons she is now free to go without being attacked again.
Who was so bold, daring, and insane as to turn such a poor girl into a blood sucking species? And how was she able to walk around in daylight rather than being burned and turned into ashes?
What was even more surprising was that she could eat food like any other normal person. He would have just lived with her if she hadn't bit and sucked his blood that night, not knowing or discovering her other identity.
Do you think he felt betrayed? Yes, he did, but he understood that before, he had no right to know about these secrets, but now that he was her husband, he did. He was curious about everything she was concerned about.
Chandler laughed at himself just thinking about this level of possessiveness. He wanted to strip her naked and learn everything, but he kept the truth from her. If she finds out, will she be angry or understanding, as he was at the time?
Chandler decided to delve a little deeper and get to know these two families who knew his wife. He was so interested in their daily activities that he needed to know everything so that when he exacted his revenge on the young one, he would be prepared and he'll be on the right track, but the most important thing he wanted to do was erase the fact that Vanity was the result of illegal conduct. He was not going to let anyone send her away or kill her if it was discovered that she was a clone.
***
The forest was quiet, so quiet that the only sounds heard were birds chirping, crickets trumpeting, and leaves rustling. Someone had her ears perked in that lush green forest, listening intently for any heartbeat.
She needed to be aware of her surroundings as a hunter. She just needed any animal to feed on or things would get eerie for her.
Vanity frowned, having run out of patience. She had sneaked out to the nearest forest while her husband was away to hunt for food, but now the damn forest was deserted.
She'd never been in such a pickle before. She hasn't fed in a long time, ever since the night she dreamed of feeding on a human being. She was about to meet his family for the first time, and she didn't want to go berserk on them.
Things have been difficult for her because she has been attempting to murder her husband every night. She would have killed the man if she hadn't been strong and had a strong affinity and love for him.
She looked at her watch and decided it was time to go back to the villa since she wasn't catching anything. She wanted to feed before meeting her in-laws because it would be her first official feeding.
She didn't want to make a bad impression by biting anyone on that day. Therefore, she decided to sneak out while her husband was still at work, so she could fill her stomach first and then think about the rest.
She wasn't sure why Chandler's family had never bothered him about marrying, but she was certain that they would not approve of their excellent son marrying a girl who was not only a maid but also lacked any other qualifications to stand by Chandler's side.
Vanity only attended high school, and her dream of attending university was crushed that day years ago. She knew she needed to change her identity after becoming a vampire, so she did what a woman should do to get what she wants, and she did it. She never sold her body, instead making a series of threats until a solid identity was established and she became Vanity Pearl.
Even if someone linked her to Gwen Drysdale and did a blood test, she was safe because being a vampire gave her several abilities, one of which was manipulation. She manipulated her blood cells so that they will never be a match for the Drysdale’s'; even if they took some of her marrow, the outcome would be the same.
She even changed her prints, which is why she was never apprehended or thought to have survived after that terrifying fall.
When she was about to leave the forest, she became aware of a rabbit, which was preferable to nothing in the first place, and the chase began. She easily caught the rabbit and sank her teeth into the rabbit's neck because she was naturally fast.
She sucked the blood from the small animal until it was completely drained. She, too, didn't want to be so cruel to such a cute animal, but she needed to survive. It was preferable to her to kill an animal than a human being.
She buried the rabbit and examined her hands. She had forgotten how many animals she had killed in the previous three years. As for humans, she could count them because she fought the addiction hard after learning about the dangers of hunting humans.
All the humans she killed and drained were bad guys who deserved to be treated that way, or so she told herself to make things better. Perhaps she had missed the taste of human blood, which was why she was now yearning for her man's blood.
Vanity vanished in a flash the way she arrived in the forest; her job completed. She was soon back at the villa.
The security guards and maids only felt that something had passed because of the wind, but they didn't take it seriously because that would be insane, right?
