CHAPTER 25

He was aware of how dangerous these things could be, but he had witnessed firsthand how unambitious she was. She was just a child in need of love and attention; she did not deserve the treatment she received three years ago.
What enraged everyone was the fact that, even though there was no evidence that Vanity was the imposter, Nolan was so bold as to have her killed even though he was aware that she was Chandler's wife. Wasn't this a declaration that he didn't consider the Wagner’s to be a threat? This was a slap in the face to their family name and heritage.
It was very frustrating and infuriating to be looked down upon by a character who didn't even qualify to be one of the main characters.
"You did well; if anyone dares to try that again, I hope it does not happen; just do whatever you want to them and show no mercy," Kelly's voice was filled with sadness and rage.
“I didn't know, I'm sorry,” Chandler apologized as he embraced his wife.
He had speculated on her identity but hearing her speak about it on her own made him feel bad. He had forced her into marriage without her consent; he simply imposed everything on her and saw her as any other woman, even though she was unique and special.
He had no idea she was hiding such a big secret from him; even though he was cursed, he still had a better life than she did. He cried for the second time in his life.
Vanity had a hunch about what Chandler was talking about, but she didn't hate him for it. She was relieved that he did it because she would have missed out on an opportunity to be with a man she genuinely loves in this way.
She wiped his tears with her small, soft hands, which didn't even resemble those of a murderer.
“I've never blamed you for anything, but I've always felt unworthy of you because of all my baggage. I just wanted to tell you that I am grateful for everything you did because it allows me to be with you right now. I don't have to gaze at you from afar, but I get to see what you see every day, which is a lot for someone like me,” she admitted honestly as her hot palm touched his cheek.
“I love you,” he said as he lightly kissed her on the forehead, eliciting a bright smile from her.
When the elders saw this young couple shamelessly feeding them dog food, they were moved by what they witnessed. They were pleased that they were on the same page, but they were unsure whether she would accept their son once she learned of his own secret.
“I love you just the way you are, with all your baggage,” she said, returning the kiss but this time on the lips.
Chandler had been in their world for a few minutes before deciding that he needed to tell his side of the story.
Vanity discovered the Wagner family curse, according to Chandler and his family. She also discovered that her husband was the current bearer of the curse, which was one of the reasons he couldn't be with any woman.
Only his fated one, who was also special, could be with him, so when he slept with him, he knew she was his fated one, which is why he forced her all the way through. He also admitted that he had guessed her two identities, which surprised her.
The elders were even surprised to hear Chandler speculate that she was a clone because when they first asked, he only told them she was a vampire and nothing else.
Vanity was so moved that, despite his knowledge, he agreed to marry her and showered her with love every day as if it were normal.
When the confessions were finished and plans for dealing with the Sheppard’s and Drysdale’s were made, the elders kicked the lovers out. They couldn't take the PDA any longer. They had accepted each other because everything had been laid bare, which meant they were both on the same page, which only heightened their feelings for one another.
When Vanity saw Heidi, she smiled brightly at him before taking him into her arms. He was a grown man to her, but he was still a child she wanted to spoil and show off.
Heidi was mortified to be picked up by a young woman who happened to be his stepmother and appeared frail. The strength she possesses astounded him. This motivated him to work out more so that something like this will not happen again in the future.
“Can't you see he's blushing from embarrassment?” Heidi sighed with relief as Vanity lowered him back to the floor, thanks to Chandler's intervention.
He laughed as he noticed her pouting; it was clear that she wasn't ready to let go of him yet. And now that she had returned safely, he decided to keep his promise.
“There is something I wanted to tell you in person when you return to us,” Heidi said, looking at his father and new mother.
“Is something the matter?” vanity asked with a worried tone in her voice, she didn’t want to lose what she has with Heidi after just getting it.
“No, everything is okay. I've decided to come and live with you, dad and mom,” the last word came out softly, but the two monsters heard it.
Vanity, who had just been accepted as a mother by Vanity, burst into tears once more. She cried the most on this day.
Chandler hugged her again and began coaxing her with sweet words until she quite down.
She couldn't say anything but opened her arms to Heidi, who knew exactly what she wanted. The young man embraced his mother and lingered in her warmth. She was unlike any of the other women he had known. This mom of his was half cold and half hot, which made him want to stay in her arms, but he knew his father wouldn't let him.
“I am glad you arrived safely and sound, mom,” he loudly said this time because he enjoys saying that word.
His own mother did not want to be called a mother; she preferred to be free and unburdened by any responsibilities. Now he has someone who has gone to great lengths to gain his approval.
