CHAPTER 22
She always made sure that any potential threats to her family and loved ones were removed. The world had become more akin to a jungle where only the strong survived. If you do not want to be at the bottom of the food chain, you must be willing to fight until you are seated on the throne; otherwise, death will await you every second of your life.
This young lady reminded her of her former self. She was so pitiful and frail that she fell into the hands of those lunatics and died horribly. If she hadn't been there, those cretins would have gone on living as if they hadn't been a part of the heinous crime.
She recalled the first thing she did after acquiring this frail body. She mutilated them alive and killed them in agony before abandoning them in their respective homes. And, in the end, their deaths remained unsolved.
This young woman was like her at the time and seeing her kill mercilessly as if their lives didn't matter made her heart race in a good way. When it came to killing people who were scumbags, she had no remorse. She had taken so many lives that she had lost count.
She was also assassinated by people who claimed to be righteous and members of the church. They ripped her body apart and burned her until there was nothing left of her. They even disposed of her ash as if it were a plague.
They thought they could get rid of her, but they had no idea that after wandering the world as a spirit, she had finally found a body to inhabit that fit her perfectly, and she was back.
The queen of the witches they feared and killed to cover their many crimes had returned, and she was not going to fall for another cheap trick. To make matters even more interesting, she was living in an era when no one believed in that nonsense, which made her life easier.
That's why she was surprised to meet a vampire who didn't resemble one; she reminded her of her friend the Blood Queen, who had been dormant for over five centuries. She was a vampire who was born a vampire and was extremely difficult to kill. Perhaps she should inform the Blood Queen about this unique specimen.
“Thank you for the compliment; you are not that bad yourself,” the red-haired witch said, smiling.
Vanity blushed after receiving such a compliment from the other person; her self-esteem had plummeted prior to the compliment, but she felt better afterward.
“Thank you very much. Is it okay if I ask you a question?”
“Just go ahead and ask whatever you are interested in.”
“Are you here to kill me?” Vanity couldn't help but wonder; most of the people she'd met since the afternoon all wanted to kill her, so she needed to be cautious.
“If I wanted you dead, you wouldn't be here talking to me face to face,” the red-haired witch replied, her sly smile sending shivers down Vanity's spine.
She knew the other woman meant every word she said, if she really wanted her dead, she'd be dead by now.
“I apologize for the question, but I just needed to know.”
“I know; I understand what you're saying. You may proceed.”
She gave it her all because she had been given the opportunity to confront another supernatural like her. She would converse with this woman while waiting for her husband.
Vanity bombarded the other woman with questions, and she patiently answered them all. She learned a lot from her, and it made her realize that the world was full of both scary and beautiful things.
The two conversed, and she also responded to the questions posed by the other. Finally, the woman smiled as she gazed at the walls. She wasn't sure what she was looking at for a moment, but then she perked up her ears and heard the cars approaching.
Her husband had arrived, and it was time for her to meet the man to whom she owed an explanation.
“It was nice to meet you, day lighter,” the other woman said as she vanished the same way she appeared.
The door was kicked open minutes later, and there he was. She sobbed, allowing the tears she'd been holding back to fall down her cheeks. His gaze was fixed on her, and she could tell he was worried, scared, angry, and happy all at the same time.
Before he wrapped her in his warm embrace, she kept repeating, "I am sorry, I am sorry."
“Everything will be fine,” he assured her as he planted kisses all over her face before taking her mouth with his.
It didn't take long for their tongues to become intertwined in a passionate kiss. Chandler punished her with a brutal kiss as she tasted the metallic liquid that had now become mixed with many others in her lips.
He put his forehead on hers to calm himself down after being passionately kissed for a while.
“Let's go home now,” he said against her ear, causing her to blush.
“What about all of this?” she asked, motioning to the bloodied bodies on the ground.
“They will be dealt with; it has been a long day,” he said as he pulled her into his arms.
“We need to talk,” she said, tugging on his shirt.
“Not right now,” he said, not looking at her. She could tell he was enraged at her and that it would take some time to appease him.
She was already planning ways to entice him, but in the end, she decided to seduce him and let him eat her clean as he always does. Because he was taking her back home, it meant that he wasn't disgusted with her after all the trouble she had caused, which meant a lot to her.
What was left for her to do was confess everything from the start and see where it went from there. It was time for her to come clean, even if it meant revealing that she was a clone rather than a human.
Even if he abandons her, she will let him go with no regrets. She had finally found the love she had always desired, and she will always love and care for him from afar. He will always be the man Vanity chose and devotes her entire life to.
As they drove to the villa from the outskirts, she leaned into his embrace. She just prayed that everything would go smoothly because it scared the crap out of her to lose this wonderful feeling, she had grown accustomed to.
