CHAPTER 19
The fact that both his son and wife liked each other alleviated the anxiety he had felt since the day he decided to make her his.
The elders felt better after seeing this peaceful image; they didn't want an arrogant woman who would treat Heidi poorly simply because she had stolen Chandler's heart. Grandpa Jerome's heart swelled with joy as he observed how she interacted with everyone.
What a treat it would be if they brought him some more grandchildren.
Lunch was served, and because it was a special occasion, the chefs prepared pressure cooked basil and lime rabbit with lobster on the side. Vanity, who felt at home after being emotional, did not stand on ceremony and instead ate the food that was served to her.
Being a vampire did not prevent her from enjoying the world's delicacies; she was another typical example of a gourmet.
She was simply unlucky in that she didn't have a lot of money to spoil herself, but now that she has Wagner's money, she has promised herself that she will eat to her heart's content.
Chandler smiled warmly at his wife as he watched her eat like an elephant. He was worried that she would eat less after she arrived at his house, but after seeing her normal self, he felt relieved and began to eat as well.
Dessert was served after the delicious lunch before the family settled into the sitting room.
Vanity had no idea what the elders were up to especially with the expressions on their faces, so she focused on Heidi, to whom she was busy telling stories about the places she had visited.
“When are you planning to hold the wedding?” Kelly inquired of her son Chandler, who blushed briefly before responding.
“I was waiting until I officially introduced her to you guys before planning anything.”
“Didn't she make a fuss? I mean, this is significant, and it concerns her,” Kelly asked anxiously, because she is a woman who does not tolerate procrastination when it comes to something important in her life.
“She just left everything to me, after all, I was the one who sort of forced her into all of this,” he said that. Chandler was enraged as he recalled forcing Vanity to marry him after taking her chastity.
“Do you think she's the one for you?”
“Does she love you, or is she after the fame that comes with being with you?”
To be honest, as he listened to these questions, he felt infuriated. He had been watching and monitoring Vanity since he hired her as his personal maid. That young lady was always on task and never strayed from her duties.
While others were flaunting their a$$es to get his attention, she hadn't. She was someone who knew her limits and would never flirt or seduce him.
He still remembered waking up in the morning with her on the bed. She wore a terrified expression on her face, and she had even planned to leave the house since she had slept with him, even though it was his fault for dragging her into his bed, not hers.
“Because we have deep affection for each other, you don't have to be concerned about other reasons for being with me. And, to answer the first question, I can't live without her. When she's alive and kicking, she's mine, and even if she's buried six feet down, she'll still be mine,” he growled, contemplating the possibility of ever being separated from her.
He didn't want to see that day come; he'd rather be transformed into a vampire and accompany her daily than leave her alone after he dies.
Call him selfish if you want, but he didn't care.
“All right, we're glad to hear that, but I have one more question. What exactly is she?” Kelly asked the sensitive question that everyone wanted to ask but didn't know how.
Chandler smiled as he struggled to find the appropriate response for his family, but they deserved to know because his mother was also a special case. This was a secret only the elders would know, so even if he told them, they would never tell anyone.
“She is the blood sucking kind,” he replied, clearing his throat.
The three elders all looked at him, their eyes wide with surprise. There had never been a case of a blood sucking matriarch in the Wagner family before, and to see one that could eat normal food and walk in broad daylight was even more concerning.
“Are you sure, son?” Hunter, his father, was perplexed by what he had just heard.
“She has no idea I'm aware of it. I also wouldn't have known if she hadn't sucked me in her sleep,” Chandler admitted, explaining that he didn't want his family to know how he discovered the truth, but it was the only way he could persuade them.
“What did she do?” Kelly couldn't keep her cool when she heard.
"She was having a nightmare and somehow latched onto me, but I'm fine. She doesn't go around sucking people like other hot-blooded vampires, believe me. I'd rather she drinks my drink than take someone else's.”
Kelly looked at him with pity in her eyes; Chandler had no idea why, but that question was answered by his grandfather Jerome, who had seen most of the world and was far more knowledgeable than the rest of them.
“She won't be able to give you any more children, so you'll need to train Heidi well,” Jerome sighed as the prospect of not having any more grandchildren from Chandler dawned on him.
“Now I understand why she cried when she saw Heidi; he'll be in good hands with her. At least her love for the kid is obvious,” Kelly smiled as she remembered the scene.
“Just the three of us is enough, and you'll have more grandchildren from Kurt and Ralph later when they marry,” Chandler said flatly. As much as he desires a child from Vanity, he would prefer to have her all to himself.
“All right, then, let's go with six weeks for the wedding. Everything will be completed by that time. Do you want her to plan it, or should I hire a wedding planner?”
“Just deal with it and call us when something needs to be done. She isn't knowledgeable in this area, so I'll leave it to you,” Chandler said as he sipped his scotch and smiled.
He was aware of how lazy his wife had become since their marriage. Seeing her stressed out over a wedding was not something he wanted to see. If she becomes exhausted because of this, he will be the one who is at a loss.
He'd grown accustomed to eating her clean every night, but that won't be the case if his mother forces her to plan the entire wedding. All he must do now is keep it that way.
