CHAPTER 31

“All right, that's fine. What needs to be done this time is to get rid of the clone as soon as possible before the higher-ups get involved. I don't want to see my hard work go down the drain like this when it wasn't my fault in the first place,” Nolan said solemnly, looking at his so-called father-in-law.
“You don't need to be concerned; she is, after all, a clone. There are many ways to deal with her,” Dwain Drysdale added, his eyes welling up with rage at the thought of the so-called clone who had destroyed his family.
“You had better deal with it right away.”
After that, the three men didn't say anything but continued to drink because they all had things on their minds. Dwain was a sis-con who adored her sister, so when she fell into that deep coma and his father suggested making a clone, he was vehemently opposed, but for the sake of the family, he agreed.
He was never fond of that clone, no matter how much she resembled Gen. Every time he thought of his sister, who was lying in that room upstairs and didn't seem to be waking up.
To him, the clone was a living donor who existed to keep his baby sister alive, and the day she discovered the truth was the day she was supposed to die. He was relieved to learn that she had been shot and fell off the cliff but learning that the dead had been alive all this time made him so angry that he wanted to skin the clone alive.
They were the ones who gave it life, and now it was busy refusing to die and threatening his baby sister. This was not something he was looking forward to hearing.
Anyone who messes with his dear sister will suffer greatly and deeply regret it. Even Nolan, who was preoccupied with taking his little sister for granted, felt the same way.
When the attacks on Sheppard's corporation began, he added a few problems. Even though it was advantageous for them to be seated on the high seat, he also desired to see Nolan be humble and not put on airs.
He was busy making his baby sister's heart ache because he has too much money and resources, and that bastard didn't deserve her at all, but now they have to work together to get rid of this pest that was causing his baby sister to be unable to sleep.
For over a week, seeing her baby sister being compared to that clone made him feel so bad that he wanted to personally skin that clone's face off. No one was allowed to have the same appearance as her. He would even slit his own wrist just to see her smile.
***
Gwen wasn't feeling well after she didn't hear back from Chandler after sending that anonymous email. She expected him to leave her, but her spies brought her bad news. This clone was married to Chandler, and everyone got along just fine with her.
Her bond with Heidi was even more difficult to sever.
Only vases crashing on the floor were heard by the servants. They'd grown accustomed to this type of behavior. They used to believe that a goddess had been brought into the villa, but after seeing her for the past week, they realized what they meant when they said, "don't judge a book by its cover."
This goddess was a deceitful woman who pretended all the time. They had seen so many negative aspects of her that they avoided her at all costs in case they met the same fate as the others when she was in a bad mood.
Gwen became even more enraged when she learned from Nolan that Vanity and Chandler's wedding invitation had been sent to his family. The fact that the fake human was marrying one of the city's most desired bachelors enraged her to the point where she broke her favorite vases but felt no pain.
Nolan walked into the bedroom, which was filthy, but he didn't reprimand her because he knew how much pain she was in. If it had been him, he would have been furious to see his clone act so arrogantly in front of him.
He'd decided to let her vent until she calmed down, but she needed to gather herself because things were about to get crazier now that they'd decided on a course of action.
“You should take some time off and go on vacation. The city will not be quiet for a while,” Nolan said, running his fingers through Gwen's long, silky hair.
He had no feelings for the woman, but he did enjoy being around her because she was different from his mistress and Secretary Clara. Her acting was so good that it made everything so much easier for him.
She was always listening to him, so when he heard her response, he was taken aback because he didn't expect her to respond in that way.
“I can't leave because I promised myself, I'd see that woman beg for forgiveness while crawling and kowtowing at me. If I leave, I will never have that opportunity again. I want to see her die in front of my eyes, and I even want to be the one to put an end to her pitiful and miserable life!”
Her words were so powerful that Nolan saw a dark side to his wife for the first time. She was a woman consumed by enmity, pride, and rage. This new side didn't last long because he discovered a new opportunity for him to take advantage of.
He continued to pat her hair with a creepy smile on his face, because she wanted to drive the knife through the clone's heart if he was going to let her. It would be even better if she died in the crossfire, so he doesn't have to dirty his hands in the future.
It would be preferable if he had his men send her to her death early in the process, as this is not his fault because she requested to be present when they strike.
“If that is what you want, I will do as you request. So, relax and calm down, I will have your wishes fulfilled,” Nolan said softly, and Gwen was touched to hear that her cheating husband was agreeing to her request.
She didn't even question why he would agree to such a request at all. Because her mind was clouded by vengeance, she simply shut everything out as if it didn't matter.
