CHAPTER 14

She needed resources to get there, and those resources can only be obtained through money and connections. Because the industry was so corrupt, simply having talent was ineffective. If you have money and connections, your status will rise steadily.
When she compared her own family to the Sheppard’s, she didn't need to be told about the disparity between the two families, so even if Nolan didn't love her, she was going to take advantage of what he could give her to better her own life. It would be fantastic if she could conceive an heir for him, which would solidify her position in the family.
She sat in the bridal room, a smile on her face, as the ladies congratulated her repeatedly. How could she not see that they were only there to adorn her and were not genuine?
It was finally time for her to go to the hall where she would finally marry the man she loves. She smiled as she approached her father, who was waiting for her at the door to walk her down the aisle.
She hooked her arm around his, and she felt at ease with him by her side. She didn't hate her father after learning that she had been replaced by a clone for six years. She knew they were sincere, and her disappearance could only be disastrous for her family.
Knowing how they treated the clone made her forgive her family and knowing that Nolan personally killed the clone made her even happier. She did, however, feel insecure because she was afraid of this man.
If he could kill a woman even though she was a clone without feeling remorse, did that mean that if she outlived her usefulness, he would kill her as well? She was terrified at the prospect of that happening, which is why she was working so hard to become someone strong and powerful enough to protect herself and her loved ones.
Douglas complimented his daughter, “You look beautiful princess,” with a warm smile on his face.
He was glad that this day had finally arrived. Even though he agreed to the union between the two families for selfish reasons, knowing that his daughter loves Nolan and that she will have her status elevated once she becomes a member of the Sheppard's family made him relax.
His daughter was meant to soar through the sky like a phoenix, and Clegend was the ideal place for her to do so. He only wanted the best for her, which is why he didn't blink an eye when he came up with the idea of creating a clone to provide her with blood cells and bone marrow.
So, what if he turns into an animal? Even if it meant killing thousands of children, he would do it to save his children and wife. He will follow the devil's path to see his family whole. He doesn't mind being persecuted by the entire world if it means bringing a smile to his family's faces.
All his efforts had paid off. Everyone could see Douglas's joy as he walked his beautiful daughter down the aisle.
Nolan stood in the front wearing a black designer tuxedo, looking very dashing and gentlemanly. His face was plastered with a smile, and one could see the love imprinted in his eyes.
The bride Gwen was obviously happy as she approached the man, but only she knew that the love in those eyes wasn't meant for her, but did it really matter? So, what if he wasn't in love with her?
She was the one who married him, and by the end of the day, she will be the legal spouse, while Clara will be labeled as a mistress for the rest of her life. Douglas handed Gwen over to Nolan, who took her hand in his and smiled politely.
“I give my daughter to you, so take care of her always,” Douglas said to Nolan, to whom he was handing his princess.
“I will not disappoint you,” Nolan said, smiling.
Douglas returned to his chair and sat next to his wife Isabelle after sending his daughter away. The two held hands as they watched the wedding ceremony begin.
In front of everyone, Nolan and Gwen exchanged vows. While Gwen was enjoying having Nolan put on her wedding band, someone in the audience was clenching her teeth tightly. Clara dug her nails into her palm as she watched the man, she had committed herself to marrying another woman who didn't deserve him.
She wanted to stop it all, but she knew that if she became emotional, everything they had worked so hard for all these years would be for naught, and if that happened, she would only seek his wrath.
She had promised herself that no matter what he did, she would always be by his side and support his decisions. So, what if she first marries him? He'll be groaning her name by the end of the day.
He could be doing it right now, but she knew that no matter what, this woman would never become pregnant with his child. Nolan was a truly evil man, but she still loves him.
Will that foolish girl still flaunt herself in front of everyone if she knows Nolan made her barren? When she reminded herself of this fact, she felt at ease, which caused her to loosen her grip and put on a relaxed and happy smile, as if she wasn't hurt at all.
Gwen smiled happily as she looked down at the ring on her finger; he was now officially hers. This feeling was so strong that she wanted to dance and sing, but she had to keep her image intact.
After the wedding ceremony, everyone proceeded to the next location where the reception would be held. Gwen changed out of her white wedding gown and into a blue gown for the reception.
She couldn't take her gaze away from her ring; it was as if she was still in a dream she didn't want to wake up from.
“Congratulations on marrying the young master,” Clara mocked, causing Gwen to snap out of her wonderland. She glared angrily at Clara, whose smile clearly mocked her.
“I see you're finally showing your fangs,” Gwen sneered as she looked at Clara.
“I've always been this way. Anyway, I sincerely congratulate you on obtaining the position, and I hope you will keep it for a long time.”
