CHAPTER 18

He could see the love in those eyes, and it made him feel better. At the very least, his father was not the only one in love.
“Mother, father, it is nice to meet you,” Vanity said as she looked firmly at her parents in law with a warm genuine smile on her face.
They both looked at her with shock and she shrunk, she looked at Chandler for help. She had no idea what had gone wrong with the greetings.
“Do you want her to refer to you as Auntie and Uncle?” Chandler asked his parents, his gaze firm, causing them to return to earth.
“No, no, no. We were simply taken aback. We didn't expect you to call us right away,” Kelly said, a warm smile on her face.
“Oh, I thought you didn’t like it. I heard that I should call my husband’s parents like that since they are like my own, therefore I called it,” her voice lowered as she ended her statement. This simply made Kelly to warm up more
She knew that this girl was an orphan, and she might have been excited upon receiving a new set of parents. Now she felt bad for the way they reacted.
“Just call me mom and him dad in the future, it is much closer than mother and father,” Kelly said, brightening Vanity's face.
Chandler relaxed his face and warmed up to his parents after seeing how happy she was again. He didn't want his parents to scare his woman away; he'd go insane if that happened.
Vanity smiled cheerfully at the parents before turning her gaze to Heidi. She looked at him with nervousness; he was already ten years old and an adult capable of thinking for himself. She adores children, so she was terrified when it came to Heidi.
She didn't want him to despise her; she just wanted to live with him and show him the motherly love she never had as a child. She wanted them to be a family, so seeing him made her so emotional that she burst into tears.
Everyone who was outside saw this, and Chandler noticed the changes in Vanity. He was aware that she was unable to have children and that she must be depressed.
She gave Heidi a longing look; he knew she adored children, and Heidi felt the same way. His little vixen must be overwhelmed because she doesn't know what to do with his son.
“Heidi, please come here!” Chandler told his son; he didn't know how to interact with children because all he could do for him at the time was leave him with his parents. He didn't want to inadvertently harm him, so he let his parents raise him.
Heidi noticed the changes in everyone, and he simply obeyed his father and approached the man. He had forgotten the time when he was so close to him, when he realized that everything, he did was for him to be safe. He used to resent him, but that feeling had vanished.
When he approached his father, his father smiled so genuine at him that he blushed; he didn't want to embarrass himself, but it was too late.
“Your new mother is emotional; you must forgive her. She doesn't hate you, but she clearly loves you,” Chandler paved the way for his wife, who was crying as she looked at Heidi.
Heidi concluded that there must be something wrong with her, but since his father had spoken, he had no choice but to give in first.
“I'll keep that in mind, Dad.”
“Do you mind if I hug you for a few seconds?” Vanity asked Heidi for permission, her eyes wide with excitement.
If she couldn't hug him at his age, she'd have to forget about it as he grew older. She wanted to spoil him and lavish him with everything she had. That, however, was only possible if he was willing to do so.
Heidi was taken aback by Vanity's sudden request. He could tell she didn't mean any harm, but that wasn't why he was just standing there staring at her. His mother did not spend much time with him. He'd seen her a few times, but she'd never shown him any affection. His grandparents had done all of that, and yet this woman was asking him that.
“It's fine if you don't want any contact. I'm sorry for being too hasty. I was just excited,” Vanity desired that the earth simply swallows her whole. Why did she have to be so outspoken?
Remembering Chandler, who didn't like being touched back then, she just assumed that his son was the same. While she was busy lamenting and reprimanding herself, she felt a warm embrace surround her and became lost for a moment. When she saw the young man hugging her, she opened her teary eyes and smiled.
Vanity hugged Heidi back with everything she had after receiving such a huge boost. The Wagner elders stood there watching this wonderful scene unfold as the two were embraced in a warm embrace.
Chandler didn't appear to be in good spirits as he observed his wife's emotional embrace with another man. How dare she keep that little brat in her arms for so long?
After seeing his son's mood, Hunter, Chandler's father, said, "just let them stay like that for a while."
How could he not see the storm brewing in Chandler's heart? He was obsessed with his wife and would go insane if confronted with his own children.
Vanity said to Heidi, who was in her arms, "Thank you." It was a wonderful feeling to be a mother.
Heidi felt better when he was in her arms because he liked this new mom right away. She was a little cold, but her affection for him was evident. He would have stayed longer if it hadn't been for his father's separation. Unfortunately, his father appeared to be in a bad mood, as he was drinking vinegar towards his own son.
He really wanted to open his eyes and see if his father was all right.
Kelly broke the ice by saying, "Let's go inside and have some lunch," and everyone went back inside.
Vanity handed out the gifts she had prepared ahead of time and sat next to Heidi and Chandler. Chandler acceded to his wife's demands because he wished to see her happy.
