Knight's Temptation – Part l
"You are fired."
"What! You can't do that!" The man yelled and raised his brow in question.
"I signed a contract, and you can't fire me until it expires!" He attempted to be smug, but Onyx could see right through his ruse. The corner of his mouth twisted upward, forming a smirk.
"You work in my company, steal from it, recommend my clients to competing companies, and sell my company's trade secrets to my rivals. Give me a good reason why you shouldn't be behind bars!"
"Because you lack proof, whereas I have my employment contract." He said confidently as Onyx's brows twist upward as he leans back in his plush chair.
"You have no idea what's going on, do you, Mr. Connor?" Onyx inquires as he notices Connor stiffen visibly in front of him.
He took a document from the bottom drawer of his table. With the document in hand, Onyx rose from his chair and moved in front of him, leaning against the mahogany table.
"Clause 6 of the employment contract states that if you are disloyal to me or my company, I have the right to withhold your wage and fire you." He slams the document in front of him and watches the smugness wither away. "Did you read the entire agreement, Mr. Connor?" With his head tilted, Onyx inquired. All traces of haughtiness had vanished from his face, and he appeared shocked. Onyx took out a pen drive and placed it in front of him. He began speaking with a devilish grin on his lips,
"This pen drive contains CCTV footage from the parking lot where you struck a deal with one of my rivals. It did a good job of recording you and your voice. So, I believe we're talking about the lack of evidence against you."
He opened and closed his mouth, his tiny brain unable to comprehend the gravity of the situation. As a final straw, he pushed a piece of paper and a pen towards him.
"Mr. Connor, this is your confession letter. Sign it or the video will be turned over to the police." Onyx threatened. Wasn't it an incredible feeling to bring someone to their knees?
"And here's what happens if you don't sign the confession letter." He returned to his chair and sat down. Onyx began speaking while placing his clamped hands on the table.
"Based on the video, I can fire you right now and withhold your pay. Your landlord will evict you from your apartment, leaving you homeless and jobless. And I'll make certain that no one hires you. And if you try to spend the money you stole, you'll be arrested." Connor stood flabbergasted in his place as he finished outlining his options. His entire life flashed before his eyes as he considered the possibilities of his uncertain future.
"Either you spend your days on the streets or behind the bars, the choice is yours. So, Mr. Stevenson Connor, which option do you choose?" As he finished his sentence, his voice became darker, and Steve gulped down the lump that had formed in his throat.
"I'll get every penny you stole back, whether you choose to be homeless or imprisoned. Backstabbers are the one thing I loathe the most in this world. And in any case, I'll make your life a living hell." Steve saw the raw fire burning in his orbs as he looked at the men sitting in the plush chair. He could feel a dark shadow looming over Onyx's face, and he knew he'd messed with the wrong person.
"I'll sign the confession letter Mr. Reighs." He uttered dejectedly as his shaky hands picked up the pen and signed the paper.
"Mr. Connor, you can go wherever you want. The cops will find you soon." Steve turns around and walks out of the grand office, his head bowed, muttering an apology he didn't mean. He didn't feel guilty for his disloyalty, but he did feel bad about being caught.
"That must have been a lot of fun, boss." As a female voice spoke and walked into his office, he raised his head. Lilian, his secretary, walked in with a stack of files in her hand. He leaned back, a proud smug smile on his lips.
"It always feels amazing bringing a backstabber to their knees, and I love the look of horror on their faces when they realize they've been caught." Lilian chuckled as he said this.
"I'm sure it is." She said this as she placed the files in front of him on the table.
"But why go through all the trouble to make him sign the confession letter when you have proof?" She asked baffled and a devilish grin coated his lips. "The pen drive is empty. I needed solid proof and he fell right into my trap!"
She looked at him with wide eyes for a moment before bursting out laughing.
"You only tricked him into thinking you had evidence, and he fell for it."
He nodded and began going over the files in front of him. One thing he was certain of was that he would never let anyone walk over him, and no one would ever have the opportunity to use him for their own benefit. However, this incident made him realize that he needed to be more cautious.
"So, what's on my schedule today?" He inquired closing the file.
"You have a meeting with a foreign investor in thirty minutes; they want to discuss the new product launch. Following that, you will have lunch with Mr. Lee." She quickly replied going over her notepad and he nodded.

Onyx was done for the day as soon as the final meeting concluded. He was on his way home in the back seat of his car, looking out the window at the bustling city outside. His car was soon parked in the lot, and he was on his way up to his penthouse through the private elevator.
As the water cascaded down his toned body, all of his work-related stress, tension, and tension were pushed to the back of his mind. It was his time to let loose and enjoy himself, to do whatever he pleased. Every chaos related to work can wait and will be tended to in the next working hours.
After a change of clothes and attending to the hunger of his belly, he was on his way, gliding down the busy streets of the metropolis.
He was soon parked in his preferred spot at Webster Hall. He slid out of his car and made his way to the club's private entrance. The quiet evening was filled with the mumbles and chatter of people queuing for entry. The bouncer nodded as he walked into the sea of boozy people dancing to the beat of the tunes.
Onyx made his way through the crowd to the bar and sat on the stool. His drink was brought to him, and as he held the cold glass in his hand, he gazed out over the crowd swaying to the music.
Everyone got what they wanted in that nightclub: total permission to feel elation, to feel the kind of bond that was denied in the cold streets beyond. The dance floor, their shared emotional high, is light to soles and light to souls.
For him, it was simply a hunting ground. A place where he could hunt for his next prey and let himself loose. And his sharp browns had already locked on to his next prey. He was hardening in places he shouldn't mention as she swayed her hips to the music and those bold moves of her body. She let the music take over her body and swayed to the beat in sync, all her curves visible to him as the light shone through the sequin material of her dress. He knew one thing for certain: he needed her, and he needed her for the night.
The song ended soon, and the DJ switched to another. He turned around and saw her approaching the bar and settling into the vacant seat beside him out of the corner of his eye.
As she sipped her drink, he noticed her casting glances at him. When his gaze caught her, she averted her eyes. Her s*exy demeanor was enhanced by the pinkish blush on her cheeks. He chuckled lightly as he noticed her looking away at everything but him. Her red lips graced the glass as she took small sips.
"The way you look sipping that glass should be illegal." His husky voice drew her attention, and she turned to face him.
"That is extremely flattering." She smiled and placed her now-empty glass on the bar counter. He gestured to the bartender for another round of drinks and turned to face her. "And so is the smile you're giving me."
"Onyx Reighs," he said, extending his hand. She accepted his hand and replied,
"Would it be creepy if I said, I already know?" He brought her hand to his lips, never breaking eye contact. "Not at all," he replied.
He let go of her hand, and she took the glass in her hand. Drinks after drinks she gulped down as they shared seductive glances and chatted. After about half an hour of drinking, the music changed to something that made her eyes sparkle.
She gulped down her final drink and stepped down from the stool.
"Wanna join me on the dance floor?" she asked sensually as she turned her head towards him. "How can I possibly say no to such a beautiful woman?" he smirked.
