Flight to Berlin – Part l
"Yo Raven!" Ophelia turned her head back to see Sage walking towards her with a beaming face. "Sage! What's up?" She greeted him with a wide smile and exchanged a hug. "It's been a long time since I've seen you!" Sage smiled as he stepped back from the hug.
"Yeah, it's been a long time since you got sick and asked me to fill in for you." Sage gave a sly grin as Ophelia smirked. "How is Amanda by the way?" Sage sighed dreamily as Ophelia inquired. "She's good. I can't wait to go back home to her after the flight." Ophelia nodded and smiled. "Speaking of flights, this is the first time I've seen you without your uniform at an airport!" Sage exclaimed, surprised, and Ophelia sighed.
"Shall we go, Ophelia?" Onyx questioned, smiling at her with a loving smile as he approached her side, and Sage stiffened in his place. "Good morning, Mr. Reighs." Onyx looked up as Sage greeted him. "Captain Sage! It's been a while!" Onyx exclaimed as he extended his hand for a handshake. Sage and Onyx shook hands. "Yes, Mr. Reighs."
"I see that your girlfriend did not kill you; does this mean she destroyed your Xbox?" Onyx inquired with concern, and Sage noticeably stiffened in his stance. Sage glanced at Ophelia, who was standing next to Onyx, and his eyes told her in a million languages that he felt betrayed. Onyx chuckled as Ophelia raised her palm in surrender, shaking her head. Sage's eyes widened when he saw Onyx chuckle despite the fact that Sage had lied about being sick. Ophelia chuckled as he looked at her with questioning eyes. "It's a long story."
"Are we ready for the flight, Captain?" Onyx inquired, and Sage turned to face him. "The fueler is currently dispatching the required fuel, sir," Sage informed Onyx, who nodded. "All right, I'll see you in a bit." Sage nodded as Onyx spoke. "Yes, Sir. See you soon then Raven." Sage smiled as he nodded to Ophelia, and she smiled back. "It was good to see you." They said their goodbyes, and Onyx turned around to walk towards the waiting area with Ophelia. "What's with everyone calling you as Raven?" Onyx inquired, and she raised her head to meet his gaze.
"It was my official call sign in the Air Force." His brows were lifted as she informed him. "Really? Is it because you have a sharp tongue like a raven's beak?" He inquired, and Ophelia chuckled. "It was one of several reasons."
"Tell me about it," Onyx asked to know more as they sat down in the VIP waiting area.
"Well, I used to handle missions that weren't too hard or risky all by myself with only my wingman. And ravens always go alone and stuff. Basically, I wasn't a social crow, and if I quote their word, 'I was way too aggressive most of the time, wandering about looking for a fight and there would always be quite a few enemy casualties.' You know the raven is a symbol of death and ill omen if I remember correctly. And my co-officers would say I brought the shadow of death to the enemy forces with my wings. Basically, I symbolized a raven," she ended giggling, and Onyx smiled.
"You are a dangerous woman, Raven." Ophelia lifted her brows and laughed. "I'm one of the softest women you'll ever meet," she remarked, and Onyx raised his brow. "Really?"
"Yeah, but that is only till you don't cross me," she grinned sinisterly, and Onyx laughed. "I'll keep that in mind."
"Hello, Ms. Jade. It's wonderful to see you again." Lilian smiled as she approached, and Ophelia returned the smile. "Please call me Ophelia." Lilian nodded and turned her attention to Onyx. "The jet is ready for takeoff, Sir." Onyx rose up after Lilian informed him.
"All right, let's go." He held out his hand to Ophelia, who took it and got up.
Onyx and Ophelia began heading towards the jetway, and Lilian trailed behind them with a slight smile as she saw they didn't let go of each other's hands. Onyx and Ophelia laughed and joked as they walked towards the private jet, with Lilian close behind. They were soon joined by Elio and Glenn as they made their way towards the jet. Ophelia looked up to see Sage and Dallas at the top of the steps, staring with wide eyes at her and Onyx. Their eyes seemed as though they were about to pop out of their sockets at any minute.
"It's good to see you again, Dallas." She greeted with a smile and Dallas blinked a few times composing himself. "It's the same here, Captain."
"Welcome aboard!" Sage cheerfully exclaimed after taking his wide eyes away from Onyx and Ophelia's adjoined hands as they boarded the plane.
Ophelia took a seat by the window, and Onyx sat down beside her.
"Did you know that at one point in my life, I was terrified of heights?" Onyx said and Ophelia turned to him with eyes. "Really?" He nodded as she exclaimed.
"And because of that, my grandfather used to take me skydiving. I'd scream and weep, and he'd tie me up to him and jump out of the plane. I remember fainting several times as he would drop down in the skies with me, tearing through the air." Onyx chuckled and Ophelia laughed. "Who knew that Arrogant Reighs was afraid of heights!"
"Hey!" Onyx exclaimed as she referred to him as Arrogant Reighs, and his head snapped back toward his secretary and bodyguards, who were trying hard not to laugh. Onyx narrowed his eyes and they closed their mouth. When the pilot's announcement came through, they buckled up and prepared for takeoff.
Lilian smiled as she watched the couple joke and laugh. "It's nice to see him smiling again," Elio remarked while looking at Onyx, Ophelia, and Lilian glanced at him. "Yes. They make an excellent couple." She said, and Elio and Glenn nodded.
"Sir Gerbert had instructed me to keep an eye on them so they don't kill each other, but they seem to be getting along just fine." Lilian frowned as Elio spoke. "That's understandable, after all, Ms. Jade is his old friend's only daughter."
"That isn't the case," Glenn said, and their heads snapped to face him. "Sir Gerbert and Mr. Jade wishes to get them married." Glenn casually stated as he flipped through the newspaper. Lilian and Elio exchanged glances as they stared at him with startled eyes.
