Decision – Part l

"Come with me," he muttered as he pulled Ophelia with him.
“Where?” She asked as she followed him towards a secluded corner of the dance floor where only a few couples were dancing.
They fell into step, allowing the beat to guide their movements. Everything around them, including the scenery and people, vanished. It was only him and her. His brown eyes sparkled. Uncontrollable emotions flooded her body, and her skin tingled with delight. His hand caressed her cheek. He drew her close to his chest, and she wrapped her arms around her neck.
Her dark hair fell over her eyes like a curtain, blotting all the light. He wished to look into those slate blue eyes.
She drew her hand back to brush her hair, but his hand clutched onto hers. He placed her delicate hand on his shoulder with tenderness. Her slate blue eyes twinkled back at him as he tenderly tucked her lock behind her ear. Moments flew by as they swayed along with the music. They were both silent and stared at each other, not saying anything.
“Are you going to say something?” Ophelia asked and he nodded his head.
“Then speak!” She exclaimed and he once again nodded his head and kept staring at her. “Why are you staring at me like that?” She asked and he sighed.
“I’m admiring you. And waiting for you to run away.” He muttered and Ophelia frowned.
“Why would I run away?” She asked perplexed.
“Because I am a beast and I can lose my control anytime and hurt you. Like I did that night and tried to hurt you once again a week ago.” He twirled her around and pulled her back into his chest. “And with you here, my beast is on the edge. It has become painful for me to control him at this point.”
“Then why not just set him free?” She asked and he shook his head.
“I can’t do that.”
“Why not?”
“Do you want to get marked by my beast now? He might even mate with you in wolf form and I won’t be able to do anything, because I have no control over him.”
“Is um is mating what I think it is?” Ophelia asked with a slightly horrified expression.
“Yes.” His large calloused hand gently brushed against her cheeks delicately, his eyes dripping with affection and admiration. “I never imagined to find you. My other half, my moon-blessed. But the moment I saw you, I felt this unbearable attraction and that only grew with each moment we spent together. I became so much possessive of you without even realising it. Then when the beast once again awakened after years that night, I finally understood who you were to me. I hated to even think about you with someone else and it pained me to stay away from you. But I’m even more afraid of hurting you and pulling you in a world of unknown and uncertainty.”
“What do you mean?”
“I believe Kieran has told you about us being soulmates?” He asked and she nodded her head. “Being soulmates means once you choose me and I mark you, your soul be intertwined with mine and you will be stuck with me for life. You will be dragged into the world of werewolves and every other supernatural. And possibly our children will be beasts like me and they might even have the same fate as mine and struggle their entire lives. You can walk away, reject me and live your life. Without the fear of being hurt by your soulmate.” Onyx stopped and Ophelia stared at him with wide eyes.
“You will never hurt me! And even if you did and I reject you what will happen to you?”
“I did hurt you, Ophelia. And while you were on the operating table, I was once again running away from my problems and had locked myself up. The beast in me won’t be able to accept the rejection and will possibly die and that will set me free.” He chuckled and Ophelia narrowed her eyes.
“You are not telling the entire truth!” She hissed and Onyx sheepishly shrugged. She narrowed her eyes at him and he sighed. “When he dies, that will weaken me and without you, by me, I would probably die too.”
Ophelia untangled her arms from around his neck and grabbed his hand. She pulled him off of the dance floor and he followed her like a lost puppy with his sharp browns fixated on her and only her. After a few moments of walking, she stopped in front of a door and yanked the door open and pulled him inside with her which looked like something like an office. Ophelia let go of his hand and stared at him with serious eyes while he stood leaning against the wall.
“Kieran said we were made for each other and if that is true, how can I possibly leave my soulmate! And even if we weren’t soulmates, I fell way too deep to now leave you!” She exclaimed as she stepped closer to him.
“You might have the strength in you to just walk away and leave me, but I don’t have that kind of strength left! All my life, everyone who was supposed to love me abandoned me! And now I have hit my limit. I can’t do this! You are going to tell me everything and even if you hurt me you are stuck with me you arrogant bustard!” Ophelia exclaimed and Onyx stared down at her with wide eyes. She noticed the golden swirl in his globs and before Onyx could shut his eyes again, she grabbed his face in her palms.
“Look at me!” She commanded and at her words, his eyes opened.
“When Leona had come to visit me to tell me to stay away from you because you were a beast, I had said even if you were a beast, you were still mine. And I saying this again to you. I don’t care that you are a beast, I don’t care that you might hurt me. I only know that I have fallen for you, you arrogant bastard!” His face bent down into hers in slow motion, like a dream, blurred, and then disappeared as she felt his hot mouth close over hers. His hands slipped down the smooth curve of her sides to rest on her hips as he drew her in.
Those lips met hers and her world exploded into shards of molten light. His grip tightened across her shoulders, pulling her into him, pressing himself into her. Her hungry mouth melded into his. The tip of his tongue brushed her lips, insisted, and she opened to let him in, welcomed the urgent thrusting that sent a wildfire of searing flames racing through her body. She clung to him in some alternative universe of longing. A lone tear escaped her eyes as her arms wrapped themselves around his neck and her fingers laced into his silky hair.
