Epilogue

"What are you looking at? Eat up." Onyx said sharply, and Ophelia sighed as she took a mouthful of mixed vegetables. He sliced up another slice of beef and lifted it in front of her lips while she chewed slowly. Ophelia shook her head and grumbled.
"You better eat up or I'll spank you!" Onyx threatened and she poked her tongue out.
"I'll rather accept that than eat another bite of that!" She remarked this while pointing to the plate. Onyx shook his head and sighed.
"You'll be hungry as soon as we get there." He replied, and she averted her eyes.
"I won't and I'll be carrying some snacks with me." Onyx gave up after hearing Ophelia's triumphant words. He rose up and put the food away. He extended his hand and assisted Ophelia in getting up. Ophelia clutched his hand with one of her hands while the other rested protectively on her swollen pregnant belly. Onyx escorted her to their bedroom and seated her on the bed.
"Wait a minute; I'll be right back with your dress." Ophelia rolled her eyes as he hurried to the closet. Onyx had wept on her lap, cradling her stomach, that night after she had taken her male home. He had sworn to give his life to defend her and their child. He's never left her alone since that night, and he's never let her do anything. He fed her, bathed her and almost did everything to take care of her. Ophelia smiled as she remembered that time she had craved watermelon in the middle of the night, that too in winter. He had rushed out to bring her watermelon and the next morning she woke up; he had presented her with a melon dejected for he searched the entire night and everywhere but couldn’t find a single melon.
Onyx didn't want her to be alone and bored after she took leave from the airline after her fifth month, so they moved into the family state.
Ophelia caressed her swollen tummy with love, and a gasp of anguish escaped her mouth. Onyx rushed over to her, his eyes wide with concern.
"What happened, love? Are you in pain?" He inquired, and Ophelia smiled.
"He seems to love kicking. He's been doing it a lot lately." She remarked this as their pup moved slightly within her womb, and they both chuckled. Onyx tenderly grazed over her stomach with his hand.
"Don't cause too much anguish for your mother now." He softly said and stood up. He gently pulled her up on her feet and held up the dress she had chosen.
"Let's get you dressed." Ophelia rolled her eyes as he spoke.
"I can change myself." She sighed.
"Let me help you, please," Onyx remarked, and Ophelia turned around with a sigh.
“You shouldn’t invest all your time taking care of me you know. You should focus a bit on your work too. It’s not like I can’t do anything, I’m just pregnant.”
“You have said that quite a few times. But I enjoy taking care of you. I want to experience everything with you and be by your side during these months." He assisted her in taking off the fluffy sweater she was wearing and getting out of her trousers. He gave her lotions and beauty goods as she changed into her underwear. He combed her hair and assisted her in putting on the flowery midi dress after she applied moisturizer to her body. After she was dressed, he turned around and walked to the closet. Moment’s later when he came back, he was changed into a pair of black jeans and a shirt draped around his shoulders. He started buttoning up the studs and she stared at him. His shirts didn’t fit him anymore and often clenches around his muscles. He has grown bigger and stronger. In the past few months, she has watched him change. She has watched him gain more muscles, grow more possessive and protective. She has seen him smile more. And even the smallest thing concerning her now ticks him off easily. An Alpha male with a pregnant mate is not to be messed with.
“Are you ready to leave?” He asked and she nodded her head. He had finished buttoning his shirt and the sleeves were folded till his elbow. She stood up and walked closer to him and stood beside him in front of the mirror. As he brushed his hair, Ophelia stared at her reflection in the mirror and placed her hand on her belly, running her fingers upon it.
“Our child has grown so much.” She said with a throaty chuckle and his large hands wrapped around her waist and he placed his chin on her shoulder.
“I’m sure he would be a chubby overweight pup when he comes out. Regarding all the food you have eaten.” He chuckled remembering all the time she had snatched his food and the five or six meals a day with tons of snacks.
“May I remind you I’m eating for two!” Ophelia huffed and he pressed a kiss on her shoulder. His hand caressed her swollen belly and softly said,
“And I am taking care of two.” He said and Ophelia turned her head towards him with a beaming smile. He smiled down and captured her lips in a loving kiss.

When they walked out of the house and into the beautiful garden just a hundred yards away from the manor, the decorations for the celebration were complete, and almost everyone was present. Cressida rushed to Ophelia and smiled at her as soon as she saw her approaching.
"You look lovely, sweetheart." She said and Ophelia smiled brightly.
"Am I glowing?" Cressida chuckled when she asked.
"You are glowing like the moon." They both chuckled, and Cressida led her to a small group of females gathered around a fire. She glanced back at Onyx and he smiled at her before walking to his father. This was a small gathering to honour their family and the new coming family member. Only their immediate family and a few close friends were invited. Ophelia conversed and laughed with the female who complimented and advised her on motherhood. All the while her eyes were on him as he chatted with his brothers and a few other men she didn't recognize. As if sensing her eyes on him, he glanced at her and smiled warmly. She returned her smile and turned to face the garden's entrance. When she saw her father walk in, she couldn't help but smile. Mason engulfed her in a hug as she rushed up to him.
"You are late." Mason laughed as she complained.
"I'm sorry, little dove. I was running late trying to bring him with me." Mason spoke up, and Ophelia looked at him, puzzled.
"Who?" She questioned and her eyes widened when Leighton walked in. Leighton walked up to her and enveloped her in a hug as a bright smile appeared on her lips.
"I've been missing you so much, monkey!" Leighton laughed as she beamingly exclaimed.
"I missed you as well. But why does your boyfriend look like he is about to tear me to shreds?" Leighton inquired as he stepped back and slowly withdrew his hands from around her. Ophelia sighed and turned around to find a furious Onyx.
She approached him and placed her palm on his arm. As he stared down Leighton, low growls echoed from his chest.
"He is my best friend." She said softly as she looked at him, and he looked down at her. "Could you please be nice to him?" His eyes softened as she asked with puppy eyes.
"I'll try." He said as she smiled and drew her closer to her father and Leighton. Though he was happy to see Mason, his interaction with Leighton was awkward. After dinner, the party had calmed down, and Ophelia was on her third slice of cake. Seated on Onyx's lap, she was munching on the sweet dessert.
"Would like to have more?" He nuzzled into her neck and asked. Ophelia shook her head and put the empty plate away. “I’m full, if I eat more, I would puke in the morning for sure.” She said and Onyx nodded.
They looked ahead, where Lovis and a few other males were preparing for fireworks. She shifted on his lap and leaned her head on his shoulder. Onyx, despite her weight gain, manages to carry it with ease. They sat there watching Lovis light one of the firecrackers and run towards them. Cressida, Gerbert, Mason, Leighton, and the brothers had already joined them on the grass. Only Trista was absent as she was preoccupied with school. Ophelia looked up at the sky as a spark from a firework shot into the dark sky and burst into different colours, creating beautiful patterns. As she gazed up at the bright sky, Onyx smiled down at her. Lovis ran back to the fireworks to light them up again, but they burst out laughing when he slipped and fell on his face. Lovis got up to his feet and grumbled when Draven mocked him. Lovis charged at his twin, but before they could engage in a catfight, Arderás leapt to his feet and drew them away. Onyx's hearty chuckle vibrated her, and when he said something to the trio, she dreamily stared up at him. Her heart warmed as she looked around at her family, who were sitting on the grass with bright gleaming smiles on their faces. Her hand caressed her pregnant belly and she looked up at the sky with grateful eyes.
This was something she had wished for her entire life. A family full of people who adore her, a man who loves her with all his heart, and a growing child in her womb. She couldn't have asked for anything more.
She murmured a small thank you. Ophelia looked up at Onyx who returned his amused gaze from his brothers to her and smiled at her with questioning eyes. Ophelia shook her head and leaned in for a kiss on his lips. Onyx smiled into the kiss as he cupped her cheek and caressed her cheek with his thumb. She peaked his cheek and smiled as they drew back.
"Ech schätzen dech." Ophelia muttered and Onyx smiled down at her.
(I adore you.)
"Ech bewonneren dech och, mäi Schatz."
(I adore you as well, my treasure.)

AN__
This is where their story ends. I had an amazing journey writing the story of Onyx and Ophelia. From their own struggles to finding themselves and their lovers. I hope everyone of you who is going to read this will enjoy this little creation of mine that I hold close to my heart. Be kind and stay happy.
Happy reading,
