Lost – Part lll

Cressida approached Ophelia, who was seething. She gently drew her close, her arm over Ophelia's shoulder.
"They've done a lot of damage to you, Ophelia. He simply does not want you to be anywhere near them because he is afraid, they may harm you again. We all know they can't, but he's simply scared." Cressida said, and Ophelia nodded.
"Mom, I understand. But I just wanted to know something." Cressida squeezed Ophelia's shoulder as she whispered with an underlying coldness.
"I have made your favourite Maple-pecan shortbread. Let's go." Cressida smiled, and Ophelia's face brightened up. They walked towards the kitchen, gossiping between themselves. Ophelia had grown close to Cressida, and she treated and looked after her as if she were her own daughter. Ophelia was glad to finally have a mother figure.
Ophelia's mind was muddled with thoughts of what Onyx was doing while she munched on the shortbread. They had been looking for Leona and Abilene since the night Abilene kidnapped her. Despite knocking out Abilene, she was able to flee before they could capture her.
After dinner and a lot of gossiping with Cressida, she returned to Onyx's room, which they now shared. She freshened up and retreated to bed. Ophelia huffed as she cuddled Onyx’s pillow and closed her eyes.

Ophelia had not yet fallen asleep when she heard the door to the room slam open and the beast enter. He drew up alongside her and knelt.
"What do you want?" Onyx sighed as she murmured.
"I noticed my pillow and blanket on the couch. I'm guessing you want me to sleep there?" Ophelia huffed when he asked. "Yes,"
Onyx nodded and whispered a little 'ok' before looping his arms beneath her and lifting her up to his chest. She squealed and exclaimed in surprise.
"What are you doing!"
"I'm just taking the last thing I need to have a good and comfortable sleep."
“You sure do have your ways with your words! Let me down.”
“Am I allowed to sleep with you here then?” He asked and Ophelia rolled her eyes. “If you would take me with you to sleep on the couch then I would prefer the bed. Even if that means sleeping with your jerk.” Ophelia huffed looking away and Onyx pouted.
“Now let me down,” Ophelia said once again and softly placed her back down on the mattress.
“Did I upset you?” He softly asked and Ophelia looked away. “You did.”
“I’m sorry, love. I am just afraid of you being near them. Even if a fence of silver bars stands a barrier.” He softly said getting into bed and pulling her into his chest.
“They are in jail?” She asked as she wrapped her hand around his torso. “They are in the prison of our pack.” He informed and Ophelia nodded her head.
“Is Leona a werewolf too?” Ophelia asked as she snuggled into his side and Onyx shook his head.
“No. But she said that your biological father was.” He informed and Ophelia’s head shot up from his chest.
“What!” She exclaimed sitting up and Onyx pulled her closer.
“She was your biological father’s mate, Ophelia. That is the reason why he couldn’t throw her out even after knowing how she treated you. And couldn’t leave him for she needed the roof and money he provided. Then she married a mateless wealthy wolf and had Abilene.”
“If my father was a werewolf, he must be from a pack, right? Can you find him?” Ophelia timidly asked and saw how his eyes filled with grief.
“I’m sorry, baby. I don’t think I will be able to. Your mother said he was rouge and I don’t think anyone will be able to track him down.” Onyx said as his hand cupped one side of her face and she nodded her head.
“I understand.” A moment passed by and she looked up. “Does that mean I’m a half werewolf?” She excitedly asked and Onyx smiled.
“No wonder you are so strong. I can still feel the pain from your kick.” Onyx shuddered remembering her kick and Ophelia laughed. She rested her head on his chest and snuggled into him. His hand soothingly stroked her back as he held her close.
“I feel sleepy,” Ophelia grumbled and Onyx placed a kiss on the crown of her head.
“Let me go change. Then let’s go to sleep.” He suggested as he tried to get up but Ophelia held him down.
“You can sleep in whatever you are wearing.” She mumbled and he chuckled.
“That would be very uncomfortable.”
“I thought you only needed a pillow, blanket and me to have a comfortable sleep,” Ophelia smirked and Onyx sighed.
“Fine, I’m sorry. I need comfortable clothes too. Now please let me move so I can change. And I have to pee really bad.”
“Nah you can pee later.” Ophelia waved her hand.
“I can’t hold it in!” He exclaimed and Ophelia smirked again.
“I remember telling you this total of five times in the past couple of weeks. But you jerk didn’t move your arm. Now you see how it feels.” She said but no response came from him. Ophelia lifted her head to see what was the matter and her eyes widened in fear and shock.
In place of his beautiful brown eyes, there was the rich shade of golden she had seen that day. The beast’s canines were borne at her and she winched when his claws dug into her flesh. Ophelia tried to move but the beast had her immobile. Her breathing quickened and a gasp came out of her. A wave of low growls ripped his chest and his lips pulled back when his eyes fell on the mark on her neck. He neared his face towards her neck and a mewl left her mouth.
“-Onyx.” The moment his name came out of her mouth, the beast snapped his canines at her and threw her on the back. With his arm laid flat on either side of her head. And his razor sharp teeth tore through the skin of her neck. Just over Onyx’s mark. Blood gushed out of her wound and Ophelia couldn’t breathe. The beast only plunged his teeth deeper into her neck. Ophelia gasped and groaned in pain as red blood gushed out of her and poured down on the floor. Ophelia choked on her blood as her eyes went hazy and her body grew numb. The beast finally retracted his teeth from her neck and glanced at the wound he created. With a proud growl, he thrusted Onyx back.
“No no no!” Onyx mewled as he picked Ophelia’s body in his arms.
“Ophelia! Breath baby, please!” He cried out as he picked her up in his arms and ran out of the room. Her blood trickled down her his dropping on the floor as she struggled to breathe.
“Call for the healer! Now!” Onyx cried out, as a new pair of hands pressed on the open wound on her neck and the Reighss rushed to her. She could hear the heart wrenching cries of her mate as darkness took over her and she knew when she wakes up, he will be gone. Her male would be lost. A lone tear trickled out of her eyes as darkness tried to consumed her and his howls of loss started to faded.
