The Dress – Part l
"How you doing, son?" When he saw his father and Mason standing outside the hotel suite door, Onyx's eyes widened. Gerbert was beaming at him with a bright grin, while Mason stood beside him with a warm smile. Onyx was about to say something when he felt Ophelia's body against his back and looked down at her as she peered over his shoulder.
"Dad!" Onyx smiled, her face glowing brighter than ever before as her gaze fell on her father. He took a step back as Ophelia wrapped her arms around her father. Mason smiled and held her tight.
"I missed you, little dove." Mason muttered, and Ophelia responded muffledly, "I missed you too!" Ophelia stepped back and turned to face Gerbert, who was smiling at them.
"It's great to see you again, Mr Reighs." Gerbert returned her smile as she greeted him.
"Same here, sweetheart."
"Let's go inside," Ophelia said as she turned to face Onyx, who was looking down at her with a loving smile. She smiled back and they walked inside the suite.
"I didn't know you were coming, Father?" Onyx inquired as they sat on the couch.
"I assumed you did. The gala is in three days after all." Gerbert responded with scrunched brows, and Ophelia looked at him perplexed. "What gala?" Everyone turned to look at her when she asked.
"The annual charity gala. This year, we're hosting it. You didn't tell her, Onyx?" Gerbert informed and inquired of Onyx, who shook his head. "It had completely slipped my mind!" He exclaimed.
"Then what about the preparations?" Mason inquired, and Onyx raised his head. "Don't worry, I'll see it through." Ophelia looked up at Onyx, sensing a hint of stress.
"I will help you. Though I don't know much, I'm confident I can be of help." Ophelia suggested with a smile and Onyx smiled back at her. "With you by my side, I'm confident we'll host the best gala ever." Onyx placed a kiss on her forehead and she beamed up at him. Their gaze was drawn to their fathers sitting in front, who were staring at them with wide eyes and open mouths.
"When did this happen?" Gerbert wondered out loud. "I think it's the charm of Germany!" Mason pondered, while Ophelia and Onyx laughed.
"Probably," Onyx muttered, looking down at the woman sitting beside him.
"How, though?" Ophelia shrugged as Mason exclaimed.
"It's a long story."
"Why are you staying at a hotel instead of at our residence?" Gerbert inquired as he sipped his coffee. They had been in the suite's lounge for about half an hour and were still there. Onyx and their father were planning the gala. After a shower and a change of clothes, Ophelia came in and sat beside Onyx.
Onyx raised his head from his paper to his father's question and replied, "It's too far from the office, and I don't want to drive for hours to get to places."
"Did you even take Ophelia to visit the home you grew up in?" Gerbert inquired, his eyes narrowed and Ophelia glanced at him and Onyx.
"I was planning to take her there." Gerbert nodded in response to Onyx's answer, and Ophelia looked at Onyx.
"To your childhood home?" She inquired, and Onyx smiled and nodded.
A few hours flew by as they worked on pending paperwork and prepared for the gala. After dinner, Mason and Gerbert left, and Onyx and Ophelia sat on the couch to say their goodbyes.
They exchanged glances, and the air around them became thick with s*exual tension. Ophelia gulped and bit her lower lip as she noticed Onyx's eyes immediately fixated on the action. Onyx leaned in as his hand rested on her upper thigh and squeezed, warmth starting to seep through her being and she chuckled.
"You seem to be willing to give up, Mr Reighs." Her lustful voice was low and deep.
"You seemed to be willing to give up as well a few hours ago, Captain."
"It was a harmless innocent kiss," Onyx growled as her lips curled in a smirk. "
Onyx pressed his lips against hers in an instant.
"This is a harmless, innocent kiss as well," Onyx said and Ophelia smiled against his lips.
Their bodies pressed against each other as they devoured their lips greedily. Onyx's hand slid beneath her shirt, and she moaned as his warm hand probed her skin. There was another knock on the door, and they groaned as they drew back.
"Who the hell wants to die!" Ophelia chuckled as Onyx growled. With a sour face, Onyx yanked open the door to find Elio standing there with the two bags.
"I apologise for disturbing this late sir, but I found these bags in the car." He apologised handing over the bags filled with fruit and vegetables and Onyx sighed. "Thank you, Elio."
Onyx shut the door, walked inside, and placed the bags on the kitchen counter. Ophelia walked to him and her face lit up.
"I had a feeling I was forgetting something!"
Onyx took out the fruits and vegetables and Ophelia popped a few berries in her mouth. While Ophelia sat on top of the counter swinging her legs, Onyx chuckled and put everything in the refrigerator.
"Let's go get some rest. Tomorrow is going to be a long day." He suggested, and she jumped down. Onyx wrapped them in the warm duvet as they fell asleep snuggled into each other's arms.
As she sat on the couch in Onyx's office, Ophelia sighed. She'd been running errands for the final guest list since the morning, and it was now past noon. She cast a glance at the man seated behind the table. He was on the phone, barking something in Luxembourgish while flipping through the paper in his hand. He hung up the call and turned to her and Ophelia smiled at him. Onyx rose from his chair and walked over to Ophelia.
"Let's go for lunch?" He asked, holding out his hand, and she took it and stood up.
"I'm starving!" Onyx smiled as she exclaimed.
It had already been two days, and they were working hard on hosting the gala, and Onyx was busier than ever with office work and all the preparations.
"What do you want to do?" Onyx inquired, turning right at a junction in the road before grasping her hand and interlocking their fingers, placing their hand on his thigh.
"Hmm, Italian?" She inquired, attempting to ignore the tingles he was inducing simply by stroking his thumb across her skin.
"I know the perfect place!" He grinned, and she smiled back.
They strolled into the restaurant after finding a parking spot on the street. The restaurant was really cosy, with the fragrance of fresh cuisine and a homey interior offering a peaceful mood, furnished with checkered tablecloths and wine glasses. Onyx and Ophelia approached a table near a window, and he pulled out a chair for her before taking a seat opposite her. Soon thereafter, a waitress arrived to take their orders, and Ophelia chose their lasagne based on Onyx's recommendation. While Onyx ordered chicken fettuccine penne and red wine as recommended by the waitress. Their lunch arrived quickly, and they dug in.
"This is one of the best lasagnas I've ever tasted!" Onyx chuckled as Ophelia moaned while chewing her meal.
Onyx paid the bill, much to her chagrin, and led her out of the restaurant with his hand on the small of her back. They climbed inside the car, and Onyx gave her a sidelong glance. "Would you like to go see the venue?" He inquired, and Ophelia nodded. "Yes! I was going to ask you to take me there!"
"We're starting to think alike," Onyx replied, chuckling.
"Great minds think alike." He laughed as Ophelia made a remark.
"Are you saying I have a great mind?" Ophelia laughed as he wiggled his brows. "You have the shitiest brain," Ophelia said as she poked his head.
"Even so, you liked the date idea that came from this shity brain." Onyx chuckled, brushing her finger away.
"I guess your brain isn't always stinky!" Onyx chuckled as she exclaimed. "You're so adorable!"
He pinched her cheek, and she slapped his hand away. "Keep your hands to yourself, Reighs!"
"With you beside me, that's impossible!" Onyx laughed and switched on the radio. And ironically Selena's melodious voice came through, 'Can't keep my hands to myself!' They glanced at each other and burst out laughing.
