Chapter 7 - The Land
********Alpha Kane's POV********
"Adam piss off!!" I roar for what seems like the eightieth time today.
"I'll tell Leoni on you if you keep screaming at me like that! I just want to help!" He whines in defence, following me to my office where a meeting is being held with a few of the leading Alphas.
Yes for the record he still threatens me with my wife.
"Well if you want to help. You can help by being quiet and taking notes!" I groan, as he smiles in triumph that I'm letting him join the meeting.
Pain in the ass.
I'm still waiting for the day that he matures.
I toss open the office doors, startling even the Alphas that are seated in here from my sudden entrance, before I walk past them all and to my chair at the top of the table- Adam trotting behind me like a lost dog smiling and waving at them all.
I on the other hand don't even offer any of them a glance until I'm seated.
They need to remember who their King is around here, Alpha or not, and if any of them know anything about my missing daughter, I'll find out today.
"Gentlemen I've arranged this meeting to get an update on the search of my daughter. As you all know, I'll do anything to get her back and I'm offering large cheques to any pack who helps fight along side me to find her. If any of you choose to betray me however, then consider your full pack to be wiped out and slaughtered. Do I make myself clear?"
My voice rumbles around the room as I speak, dripping with authority as all men nod in understanding of my words.
"What he really means to say is we are very thankful for all of your time and efforts in helping us." Adams voice from beside me suddenly speaks out, as I turn to him glaring to find him smiling at all of the Alphas.
He's such an ass.
I kick him hard under the table, signalling for him to remain silent for the duration of the meeting, causing him to jump and glare back at me like a grumpy child.
A few Alphas laugh at us and others smile, whilst I ignore them and cut straight to the point-
"Does anyone have any news on the whereabouts of my daughter? I've heard rumours through the phone but I'd rather hear any news in person." I question, staring at all of the Alphas, some of them offering me pitiful looks.
"Well I did hear something around my pack Alpha Kane but I'm not exactly sure how true it is..." one of the Alphas, Alpha Preston, states from the end of the table causing me to perk up slightly.
"Go on?" I instruct, looking at Adam to make sure that he's ready to take down any notes.
"Well... I remember you saying at the last meeting that you were unable to contact her at all through mind link... and we all agreed that this could be due to her being unconscious or poisoned with wolfsbane right?" Alpha Preston begins, as I check Adam to make sure he is taking note of everything he is saying so far.
I nod, gesturing him to continue, as he nods in return-
"Okay so my son who you know is only seven years old... came home from school last week after meeting a brand new teacher at his school and he told my wife and I a story of the hidden land of the rogues..." Alpha Preston states, earning a few sniggers from some of the Alphas causing me to growl loudly in defence.
Alpha Preston looks at me with slightly worried eyes, clearly being genuine with his story so far and not wanting me to take it the wrong way...
"This is not a joke. You will all remain silent and allow him to finish. Like I said any help at this point is good so shut the fuck up and listen!" I roar at them all, some of them shrinking in their chairs slightly in submission to me.
"Continue Preston." I state, as he nods shakily and presses on...
"So this new teacher told him and many of the other kids in my pack that there was a secret land of the rogues, a land where only the banished can find and enter... she told his class that if a rogue allows a normal wolf to enter into their land with them, the normal wolf loses all connections with their pack and they are unable to be detected and found for as long as they remain on that land... but the catch is, only the rogue that allowed them entry can allow them to exit." Alpha Preston states, Adam scribbling every note down as I think.
Can we really go by what his seven year old son is saying?
"I know that you will all be thinking I'm mad but I've never heard of such a land before. Has anyone else?" Alpha Preston questions causing everyone in the room to shake their heads.
"So I thought that maybe if we spoke to this so called 'substitute teacher' we would find out where such a story came from? I mean it's worth a shot isn't it? It just seems to fit the mystery of your daughters disappearance all too well... you know? The rogues... The loss of scent and contact... everything." Alpha Preston states, earning a respectful nod from some of the Alphas.
"Yes I agree. Get me this teacher at once for questioning. I will not overlook any ideas in finding my daughter at this point on. Does anyone else hold information that they wish to share?" I ask, all Alphas looking at one another waiting for someone to speak up.
"Sir no disrespect to any of you... but that sounds to me like a kids bedtime story and nothing more... surely someone would have known already about such a place?" Alpha Lain speaks up.
Lain was an older Alpha who was a lot more grumpier than most of us here. He shocked me when he had even offered to help me out with finding my daughter...
Although his pack wasn't big, it was still help after all so I accepted.
"Well you see... the best part about it all was that my son said he learned about it in his wolf history class..." Preston states, causing me to raise an eyebrow.
A history class?
"I just think that it's a bit suspicious that this random teacher is telling the kids such stories and they all believe that there is now a secret land for the rogues..." Preston finishes, earning nods from everyone around the table.
"It's decided. I will get to the bottom of where exactly this story has come from. I agree that it seems to fit my circumstances all too well so it will be looked into... does anyone else wish to add anything to this meeting?" I finish, wanting to get back to check up on Leoni.
"We are all here for your family's support and we will do everything to help you sir." One Alpha speaks out, as all Alphas agree.
"My family and I appreciate it. Preston get me that teacher for questioning by next week. Thank you all for your help. This meeting is dismissed for today thank you all for coming." I grumble, as all Alphas nod and stand to exit.
Could a seven year olds story really be the first clue to our mystery?
