Chapter 49 - Arrival

*****Coda's POV*****

Since the party, we had been packing and organising to head over to my fathers pack.

The party was a good distraction for my nerves but the whole thing felt all too real now that it was finally Monday morning and we were due to leave in an hour...

"Does he know we're coming?" I ask Kane, as he loads up the cars with our cases.

We planned to be staying a total of four days with the understanding that it could be longer if Kane felt necessary.

I just wanted to find my Mother... or find out what he did to her at least... if anyone knew anything about what happened to her then it would be him...

"He knows." Kane replies, as he hauls another case up and into the Range Rover.

"I told him that I was doing quality inspections of all packs and that I would be visiting his first since it's the furthest away driving distance... he doesn't know anything about you though... I doubt he will even recognise you." He concludes, lifting the last case into the car.

"Understood. So do you reckon he will be on his best behaviour then?" I ask, following the King as he leads me towards his big garage full of cars.

"Definitely. We just need to find the cracks in his plan and expose him for what's really going on in that pack... he always did seem like an evil bastard to me... oh and Coda..." He trails off, as I nod for him to continue.

"Just so that you know... he just married a new woman a couple of months ago... If I remember correctly then this is his 8th marriage and the girl is only 24." He states, as I roll my eyes and growl at the thought.

"He just thinks that he can make anyone the Luna to that damn pack! The Luna should have been my Mother! It's not fair on the pack either... surely he can't be ruling them properly if he can't even sustain a Luna!" I rage, as we walk through the large garage before stopping at a very impressive sleek black sports car.

"I felt it was best to tell you now rather than you finding out when we get there and risking blowing your cover... I want you and Maddison to take this car... can you drive?" He then asks, tossing me the keys as I stood there shocked.

I would fucking love to drive this beauty of a car... I love cars...

"I don't have a license..." I sigh out, realising that although I taught myself to drive when I was 14... I don't actually have the card to prove it.

"I didn't ask for a license... I asked if you can drive son..." Kane smirks, as my mouth falls open in complete shock again.

He has got to be the coolest King to ever exist!

"Yeah I can drive." I conclude with a grin, as he nods and walks back outside leaving me with the car.

I'm living a dream...

*****Maddison's POV*****

I was not prepared for this long ass drive at all!

We were leaving right now at 2pm and were due to arrive at the pack at 10pm...

I head outside to the cars after kissing my Mom goodbye. I could tell that she was hesitant for me to go but at the same time she knew that I'd be safe with my Dad and Coda going too.

Walking out, I hear the sudden beeps of a car horn before the revving of an engine sounds out shortly after.

What the...

I turn to see a blacked out sports car... one of my Dads finest... speeding it's way across the gravel towards me.

"Get In princess..." I watch as the car pulls up beside me, revealing a very cocky looking Coda in the drivers seat.

"You can drive?" I ask in horror, as he shrugs.

HE SHRUGS!

"This ain't funny Coda... can you actually drive?" I ask again, watching him smirk at me in my distressed state.

This god damn boy!

"Did you not just see me? I'm a pro now sweet heart so get in!" He chimes, as I shake my head in disbelief.

"My Dad will kill you when he sees you in this car!" I warn, before hearing a deep laugh come from beside me.

"I gave him the keys Maddison." My father joins in with the fun as he too laughs along with Coda.

I stand there in horror looking between them both waiting for one of them to admit that this is a prank. Coda can't drive can he? Surely he can't? When would he have the time to even learn?

"Relax angel... he can drive... he just doesn't have the license to prove it but he will be fine... just not too fast Coda I'm warning you!" My father states, pointing a finger at Coda as he just raises his hands in surrender.

"Of course not sir!" Coda replies, causing me to roll my eyes as I eventually climb in the car beside him.

"If you kill me Coda I swear I'll beat you up in the after life!" I mumble, as I watch him grin to himself before revving up the engine just to frustrate me further.

I'm going to die... I'm going to fucking die...


*****Coda's POV*****
10 hours later...

"So are you going to admit it?" I ask her, as she now sits beside me in the weirdest position ever.

Her legs were sprawled up on the dash board and her chair was laid back like a recliner seat.

"Admit what?" She asks, as I grin at how stubborn she's being.

"That I'm a pretty good driver for someone that doesn't have a license." I state, as I speed up slightly again only to cause her to groan.

"Fine you're not the worst... but I still can't believe my Father just trusted you to drive me here!" She huffs out, causing me to chuckle at her.

She's so cute.

"He knows your my mate that's why..." I state, causing her to sit up fully again in her chair.

"What does that mean?" She questions, as I keep my eyes on the road.

"It means that he knows I'll be extra careful with you in the car... I wouldn't want anything bad to happen to you." I admit, as she blushes slightly at my words.

"Coda... you're going 90 when you're only supposed to be going 70 max... I don't think my father would call that careful!" She states in a 'matter of fact' tone causing me to laugh again.

"Chill out sweet heart... we are here..." I state, gulping slightly as I glance over to see her mouth fall open in shock a bit too when passing the pack sign.

"Shit." She whispers, as I nod once before slowing down a bit now that I'm back in my old territory.

"Does it look familiar?" She suddenly asks, as we pass by many guards standing along the main road.

"Familiar yes... but it looks more... more dead... the trees are dying... the grass isn't green... the atmosphere just feels more off than ever before." I conclude, as I take in the scenery.

"My Dad will be waiting at the pack house for us... he wouldn't go in without us don't worry..." Maddison states, causing me to breathe slightly remembering that there's three cars following behind us with pack warriors and not to mention the two cars that followed the King.

Nobody here would dare challenge the King... especially not my Father.

The plan was that I would pretend to be a pack warrior who is mated to his daughter. We would wait to see if he clicked on to the fact that I am his son and if not then it would allow for us to snoop around a bit before executing the plan...

"Remember I'm here for you..." I hear Maddison say softly, as I pull up towards the large pack house offering her a small nod in response.

Flowers were neatly placed along the path and the place looked like it had just been freshly painted yesterday... probably because it was.

This was all an act I could sense it...

Even the pack warriors on the way up here looked miserable.

"Let's do this." I state with a huff, climbing out of the car followed shortly by Maddison.

I watch as Kane and our warriors follow our lead by getting out too. They start unloading the cars with our bags when the front door suddenly opens... revealing the one man that I dreaded to see...
