Chapter 54 - New Alpha

*****Codas POV*****

The room was dark with one small crack in the top corner of the wall to allow fresh air and little light to spill in.

My eyes roamed the damp room before landing on a small pile laid in the corner.

"What is that..." I mumble, approaching the pile cautiously as Kane follows behind, still holding a very angry looking Lain.

As I grow closer I see brown locks of long hair covering over someone's face...

"It's a woman!" I state warily, before dropping to my knees beside the poor female.

I shake the body gently, hoping to not find it dead, before thankfully the woman shakily moves her hand over my own.

The warming sparks I feel at the contact of the persons hand on my own has me shooting to my feet in shock. What the fuck?

It wasn't the kind of shocks you get from a mate... but it was... it was still a strong bond...

I watch as the woman shakily pushes herself up from the floor to sit, her skinny wrists on display as her arm quivers from the action.

She slowly brings her other hand up towards her face before pushing back the long hair that was hiding her from us.

I study her for a moment, as her watering eyes bore into my own...

No...

It can't be...

"My son..." She speaks shakily, lifting out her shaking hand towards me, begging for me to come closer to her.

"Mom!" I drop to my knees, embracing her softly in a hug being sure not to hurt her weak frame.

She looks so different... so thin... so sick...

"I thought you had died..." I can't control the tears that fall as I hold her in my arms for the first time in years.

"I fought for my life to hopefully see you again..." I hear her sob slowly in response.

"This is the one you wish to make the new Alpha?! Look at how weak he is! Men don't cry let alone Alphas!" My father chuckles sinisterly, breaking up the reunion.

I almost forgot that bastard was still here.

I feel my Mom flinch at his tone which causes the adrenaline to fill my body like a flood.

I release my mother to stand, naturally squaring out my shoulders as I approach him.

"What the fuck did you do to her!" I roar, towering over him completely whilst shaking the walls of the cell with my volume.

I'm certain everyone outside could probably hear me.

"She was never fit to be my mate!" Lain snorts, studying me in disgust. "You were never fit to be my son either!" He grits out before I take my fist across his face, breaking his nose effortlessly without a second thought.

He hisses at the pain, whilst Kane allows for him to fall to the floor once again.

"She was innocent! You sent her away from our pack when I was just a boy! You turned her into a rogue all because you wanted to sleep with whores!" I roar, the tears flowing down my face from pure rage.

"She was never a rogue you stupid child! I had her locked up here all this time! I just told you she was a rogue so you wouldn't go looking for her! But look what you've fucking done... you've ruined my life! My pack! You're a kind hearted disgrace just like her!" He argues, still holding his now bloody nose on the floor.

"The only thing that's a disgrace here father... is you..." I lean down so that I'm now eye level with him, smirking sickly as I place my hands on either side of his head forcing him to look me in the eyes.

"You'll rot in hell you piece of fucking shit!" I grit out slowly, his eyes widening at my words as a look of fear quickly replaces the anger in his eyes...

Snap.

He was dead as quick as that.

I watch his limp body flop to the floor. A small grin taking over my features at him finally being rid of the world.

Shit my Mom...

I turn on my heels to see Kane holding my small Mother in his arms.

She was all I needed. I would never regret killing my father but I would have regretted never finding my Mom.

"I'm proud of you Coda..." Kane nods at me, causing me to nod in thanks to him. It was done. He was gone. I had my Mother back.

"Let's get her to the doctors." Kane begins to exit the cells, with myself following behind them.

The second we stepped outside, I see Maddison with her hand covering her mouth in horror.

I followed her gaze to my mother, who truly looked horrendous now that we were outside in the light. She was stick thin and her cheeks and eyes were sunken in. She was only forty but looked sixty from being down there this whole time.

I watched some of Kane's guards head down into the hatch with gasoline... I'm assuming he mind linked them to burn down the place.

"Coda we need to announce you as the new Alpha to this pack now that Lain is dead. I'll have my best guards take your Mother straight to the pack doctors and we can join them soon." Kane announces as I just stand in complete shock as to what's happened in the space of just two hours.

I killed my father, became an Alpha and found my mother after losing her for so many years...

It was a lot to handle.

I watch at Kane's men softly carry my mother towards the pack house to take her to the hospital wing. I gulp, feeling the tears suddenly building at the sight of her.

My father ruined her life and all this time she held on in hopes that I'd one day save her.

I feel soft tingles run up my spine which causes me to snap out of my trance to see Maddison now beside me.

She immediately pulls me to her for a hug which I didn't know I desperately needed until now.

"You done so good Coda... you're so strong... you just need to address the pack and then we can go see your Mom..." She whispers softly, causing me to relax slightly at having her close to me.

I had been blessed.

I have the most perfect and beautiful mate and I now have my Mother back. I have a family. A real one who love and care for me.

She's right... I am strong enough...

I fight back the tears, straighten myself up, and give Kane a nod to proceed towards the back yard porch where the whole pack stood awaiting the news.

Everyone followed us with their eyes as we walked across the grass- they were probably curious as to what happened to their previous Alpha.

"Attention!" Kane roars, gaining silence from the crowd as they wait in anticipation.

"Your Alpha is dead. Coda here is his son and we came here undercover to find out what happened to his Mother. I'm sure some of you will remember his long lost son from many years ago but he has now returned to set things right for this pack. As your King, I can confirm that Coda is the strongest most fit Alpha for this pack and will make it stronger and great once again! Coda will be addressed as the Alpha from this point on but please be aware that he is nothing like his father! Coda is kind yet disciplined enough to run a pack. He is reasonable and will be setting fresh rules which will allow everyone here more freedom and for the children to go to school! You will become a normal pack and will no longer be prisoners here. My daughter Maddison- who I'm assuming you all know- is Coda's mate and therefore will be your new Luna. If anyone disagrees with what I am saying then you may leave this pack and become a rogue but for those of you that choose to stay... it will be the best decision you've ever made!" Kane concludes.

I watch nervously, awaiting the reaction of the pack in fear that they will label me the same as my father but what happens next stuns me...

Everyone erupts with cheers and clapping, some even burst out in tears from the news as they hug one another joyfully.

Wow...

What a feeling.

I grin at the pack along with Maddison, nodding in respect to them all for accepting me as the new Alpha.

For the first time ever... I felt proud of myself. I felt I had finally made everything right.
