Chapter 36 - Pain
*****Maddison's POV*****
"The suns starting to come up... just hang on a little longer and the sun will dry out our clothes and heat us up a bit..." I say to the others as we sit under the large tree chittering.
The rain throughout the night was now only beginning to die down leaving us completely soaked through and cold.
I felt bad for Seth... he didn't have to take my side through all of this... neither did Farah for that matter...
They both must just be really nice people who want to help.
"Seth are you alright?" I question as he nods quickly, clutching onto my side as we all sit huddled together to savour some body heat.
"My father will hopefully be here soon... he will have a plan... I know he will..." I sigh, trying to encourage the others but beginning to lose hope a little on the inside.
Why hadn't he come yet? What was the big hold up?
"My muscles really hurt Mads..." Seth mumbles, as he suddenly hisses sharply clutching onto his back.
Oh no...
******Coda's POV******
"Is everyone ready?" The King roars to the army stood before him in the front yard of his large mansion.
Everyone nods as the nerves begin to settle into my stomach. Today was the day...
This was it... our one and only chance.
I'm not looking forward to seeing Silvia... the thought of her alone makes me sick never mind actually having to fight her... but it's our only shot.
"Once Coda gets that witch over the border you grab her and mind link me of what part of the border she's at is that clear? I want to kill her myself!" The King roars again as everyone nods silently in understanding of the plan.
He signals to the army commander and Beta at the back of the crowd, instructing them to begin shifting as everyone follows their lead and takes off running.
"Don't fuck this up!" Is the last thing the King says to me, before he too shifts and takes off running.
"As fucked up as this whole thing is... I actually trust you and I have a plan to help you." Karson suddenly states with a nod, before shifting and waiting for me to follow his lead.
Well that made me feel slightly better... but what was his plan exactly?
I waste no more time and begin shifting into my large wolf, matching the size of Karsons and the Kings easily...
The last time I had shifted was with Maddison that day we had ran in the rain.
I miss her so much...
I watch as Karsons wolf eyes widen at the sight of me.
They can question why I'm so big once we get Maddison back later but as for now it doesn't matter...
He finally nods for us to take off in the direction of the others so we begin running side by side at a fast pace to catch up with the rest.
For the first time in my life I felt that my body was complete as I ran. I felt strong and powerful. I felt truly myself... well all except from the heart ache that I felt from not having my mate.
We soon spot the King who had halted in his tracks to wait for us catching up.
Once he sees me, his eyes widen just like Karson's had as he too studies my wolf curiously.
Now is not the time men...
After a few minutes of looking between my own wolf and Karsons- evidently comparing us both side by side- he eventually glances at me one last time before he gestures for us to take off running again.
All three of us start running and it's only a matter of time before we reach the border...
We are coming Maddison just hang in there...
******Silvia's POV******
"I'm going to take a quick shower then we are heading out to find these little fuckers." I tell Warren as he nods.
I can't wait to taste this bitches blood... and as for that dumb little fucker Seth... I'm going to put him through so much trauma I'll be surprised if he doesn't take his own life before I get the chance to end him.
If they want to play games then let's play then shall we...
******Maddison's POV******
"Just breathe Seth it's alright..." I encourage as he holds a fist full of his own hair- tugging on it desperately due to the pain.
He keeps getting these sharp pains and I can only connect them to one thing... he's going to have his first shift today...
Farah gives him some water as we try our bests to comfort him, though there isn't much we can really do.
I'm afraid it's just one of those things that everyone has to do alone- though a nicer place than this shit hole would suit him better and maybe some warmer dry clothes.
"I'm so scared!" He roars, as another wave of pain hits him hard.
"Shhh... I know you are but it will be over soon...try your best to keep your voice down... I know it's hard but we are right here by your side we won't leave you..." I tell him softly, holding him close as he rocks himself back and forth in pain.
"I could maybe go try find something to help?" Farah states, her eyes wide from the sight of Seth.
"I'm not sure what's near here but there might be a town with a shop not too far? You could maybe check and grab him some pain killers? The shift usually lasts a few hours before he actually manages to complete the process." I explain to Farah as she nods in understanding.
"I'll go as fast as I can! I'll be back soon stay safe!" Farah says, wasting no time as she shifts into her large, strong deer before running off.
"Maddison why is this happening now?! I can't do this!" Seth cries again as he jerks up sharply as another wave of pain hits him.
"Don't say that Seth! Everything will be alright... it will be over soon and you'll get to finally meet your wolf...just hang on." My eyes water at the sight of him.
He shouldn't have to go through pain like this out here, freezing cold. He deserves so much good yet his life is filled with so much evil...
We need to get away from here... my father and Coda need to come for us before it's too late...
"Pray for us Maddison..." he mumbles softly as tears fall from his eyes...
