Chapter 10 - Broken Family

*******Kane's POV*******

"Anything happens to her and I'll kill you cousin or not." I snap, baring my teeth at the shit who goes by the name of Adam.

"Listen puppy dog. I'm only trying to help! Leoni is having a bad day knowing that it's Maddison's birthday. We are all having a pretty shit day so the least I can do is take Leoni to the mall to take her mind off of it!" Adam defends, sighing as even he sounds defeated today.

"Fine. Just contact me at all times and pick up the phone immediately if I call!" I demand, slightly nervous of the other important girl in my life going out without my protection.

I've lost one of my girls and I'd completely lose the plot if I lost both. I'd destroy the full country innocent people or not if I lost them both. Leoni is the only thing keeping me sane.

"Karson is going to go to training with you so that you both can take your minds off of things for a while and so that you can keep up your fitness and strength levels." Adam states, as I nod nonchalantly before he turns and exits without another word.

It's my princesses birthday today and she has nobody.

I growl angrily, it rippling from the back of my throat, before I slam my fist down onto my office desk, cracking it in half completely with ease.

I'm going to kill whoever took her from me.

********Leoni's POV*******

"Are you sure that this is a good idea? I mean I've not went out anywhere in months Adam..." I ask, getting into Adams car since he forced me to go out with him today.

"It's better than sitting around here feeling worse. We are all finding it extra hard today Lee, but I promise we will all get through this. She will come back to us so please trust me." He squeezes my hand reassuringly, causing me to release a painful sigh.

"Thanks Adam." I muster a small smile, him returning it before he pulls out of the driveway.

My phone begins to ring moments later causing me to jump and pull it out quickly.

I always leave my phone on the loudest tone with the odd chance that Maddison will call for help one day.

You never know...

However it was only Kane.

Kane: "Angel?" He breathes out.
Me: "Hey sweetheart is everything okay? I can turn around and come back if you're too worried?" I sigh, knowing that he is worried about me leaving him.
Kane: "No angel I want you to enjoy your day out. Adam is right you need to get out for once... But phone me immediately if anything bad happens and there is a car of guards following behind you both. I also phoned because I didn't get to say that I love you before you left." His voice sounded weaker than usual, causing my heart to crack at the sound of him.
Me: "Be strong for Karson. He needs you today too. Everything will be fine don't worry. I love you so much." I tell him, surprising myself with the confidence in my words. He needed me to pick him up again. He's my Alpha. He's everyone's Alpha. He's thee Alpha...
Kane: "I'll kill anyone that touches you or makes you feel bad. I promise. Stay in touch. Bye angel." His words held promise.
Me: "I know you would. Bye Kane see you soon."

"He sure is worrying a lot more than I thought he would about us just going to the mall." Adam says, trying to make light of this whole day.

"I just miss her so much Adam. She's my baby." I admit, my words heavy as they roll off my tongue.

"We all miss her so much Lee. But I feel like we are getting closer to finding her with Kane interviewing this school teacher in a couple of days... I felt the whole thing was too much of a coincidence to not be a clue." Adam says, sounding as hopeful as ever as he does so.

"I really hope so Adam. I really really hope so..." I sigh, looking out at the passing shops as we drive by.

"Kane gave me his card and said I've to buy you anything you want no matter the cost if it makes you feel better? We could go on a total shopping spree?" Adam chirps, smiling softly as I release an empty laugh.

"I'll probably spend the money on presents for Maddison and keep them for when she comes home." I smile to myself at the thought of her coming home to open lots of gifts for her birthday...

I pray to the moon goddess that she comes back to us.

And soon...

*******Kane's POV*******

"You know I love you son." I confirm to Karson, as he lays into the punching bag in the training arena.

"I love you too old man." He breathes out, as he continues to beat the bag to a pulp.

We've been in here for two hours now going non stop in order to release our anger and to spend some quality time together on such a shit day for our family.

I've phoned Leoni twelve times in total since she left and one of those times she took longer to answer and I swear my heart stopped until I heard her sweet voice ring through the phone.

They were now both on their way back which soothed me.

Karson continued to relentlessly punch the bag around, dodging it quickly before hitting it again.

He was so like me that it was scary. He looked like me, he was nearly the same height as me. He was the same build as me. He had the same cold personality as me unless of course he was around family and friends. But most importantly, he hated the rogue that took his sister away with every bone in his body exactly like me.

That was his little sister. Nobody messed with my daughter and his sister.

"Are you nervous to meet that crazy teacher?" Karson suddenly questions me, going off to wipe his sweat with a towel.

"No. Your Dad doesn't get nervous kid." I smirk, causing him to roll his eyes and smile at me.

"I ain't a kid anymore buddy." He laughs slightly, causing me to glare at him.

Sure he was my oldest child but he was still my boy whether he liked it or not regardless of how old he got.

"Oh please I've been kicking your ass since I was in diapers." He confirms smugly, folding his arms over his chest and causing me to raise a brow at him.

"Oh is that so?" I grin wickedly, causing his eyes to widen before he takes off running.

"Little shit!" I laugh, as I chase my grown ass son around the arena, earning laughs from many of the warriors who were also in here training.

Karson suddenly leaps through the air shifting into his large wolf, diving and rolling before he stood proud on all fours.

Kid thinks he's a big shot...

I laugh at him before shifting too, causing a crowd to form around the mats as they watch us both amusedly.

This is probably the only slight bit of fun I've had since Maddison's been gone...

I didn't spend as much time with Karson as I should have. I should cherish the fact that I still have my son here regardless of how heart agonising it is to not have Maddison with us right now.

Although I will do everything in my power to get her back to us!

Whilst I was stuck in my thoughts, Karson leapt up on to my back, nipping at my fur as he made contact.

I use my hind legs to throw him off with ease but he shocks me by landing on his feet and tackling me back in an instant.

My kid has skills!

I internally laugh as we roll around fighting trying to pin one another to the mat.

He was probably the only wolf in here that gave me a run for my money in every fight... which only made me proud since he was my own flesh and blood.

As Karson bit down on my leg, I bit down on his shoulder, causing us both to leap apart growling before tackling each other once again, all in good sport.

We snapped our teeth at each other, using all our power to try tackle each other to the ground.

"Kane and Karson! What the heck are you both doing! stop it right now!" I suddenly hear Leoni's panicked yell, causing me to freeze and turn to her, allowing Karson a final chance to pin me to the mat earning applause from our mini audience.

I knew that Leoni didn't understand why we would roll around and fight like this, she just seen it as a rough scrap whereas we actually found it fun.

She's never been the fighting type but that's what I love about her.

"Karson get off of your father right now before I come up there and hit you both!" Leoni huffs, causing us both to shoot her wolfy grins before shifting back to human form.

She wouldn't hurt a fly but we still both knew better than to mess with her.

Adam shields his eyes like the immature child that he is as he launches clothes at us both.

"Ahhhh my eyes... put the clothes on it burns!" He yells loudly, causing Leoni to snigger slightly.

"Why on earth do you both fight like that when I leave you for a couple of hours!" Leoni questions us next, giving us both into trouble as we fight back our laughs.

She's just too cute to take seriously sometimes.

"We're sorry angel." I mutter, smiling brightly at her as she rolls her eyes at me and a smile of her own begins to tug at her lips as she looks at both Karson and I.

This was the first time we had felt happy since Maddison had been gone.

Any of us.

"Adam you were right. We did need to take our minds off of worrying for a while. I actually admit that I feel slightly more confident in things beginning to look up from now on. I feel like we will find her soon. I'm confident we will!" I state, Adam's mouth hanging open at my words.

Probably confused at why I wasn't yelling at him or making fun of him but instead praising his idea.

After all he brought my precious angel back to me safe and sound and slightly happier so I owe him one.

"Yeah Mom I think we will get her back too I can feel that something good is going to happen!" Karson chirps in, walking over to embrace his mother in a tight hug.

She hugs him back tightly, a single tear falling from her eye as I walk over and swipe it with my thumb.

Nobody messes with my family and gets away with it!

"Did you buy anything nice today sweetheart?" I ask, pulling her into a hug once she released Karson.

"I bought lots of gifts for Maddison's birthday... for when she... gets home." Another tear falls down her beautiful face.

My heart breaks slightly at her words. Of course she wouldn't buy herself anything on her daughters birthday, instead she spoiled her for when she comes home.

"We will have her back soon. I promise." I kiss her head, comforting her as best I could.

We were a broken family, but I feel like things might actually start to get better... we need our baby girl back and something was telling me that we would get her eventually!
