Chapter 10: What happened?

At the lounge, Oswald was just waking up after a long night. He was among the few that stayed till the very last hour of the party, having fun and drinking so much alcohol, leaving them in a very sore state. Thankfully, he had passed out on a couch and did not have to sleep on the cold floor or even in a very uncomfortable place.
The previous night, after having a failed attempt professing his love to Jessie, he decided to chill and leave it for another time. He decided to look for another girl to spend his time with, since Jessie was taking long to give him a response and he was under no restriction to stick to her only. Oswald saw no issue in having fun in as many women as he wants, though his primary reason for going after Jessie was not to just play her, he liked her but then he just could not keep his eyes off other ladies.
"Where is my phone?", he silently said as he moved his hands on the couch looking for his phone. Finding it under a throw pillow, he turned it on and was surprised at what the time was, it was noon already, "how did he sleep that long?"
Oswald stood up and made his way out of the lounge, as soon as he got to his car, he turned on the engine and drove to his house. His family house was in the same city as the school, but he lived away from them. He stayed in a two bedroom apartment with another friend he met at Chelan college.
Immediately he got to his house, he rushed to his room and pulled off his clothes. Grabbing a towel from the cupboard, he rushed to the bathroom and stepped into the hot tub. The night was a long one so he was really tired. It just happened that the party that started on a Friday night, continued till the next morning, a Saturday. Not just any Saturdays, but the one in which he was to meet with his parents.
His Father had a very big company dealing on tech gadgets, the company had a lot of shares which was worth large amount of money, Oswald and his brother always had disputes about the company shares with other shareholders. So, his Father called for a meeting within the family before he could proceed to the board, so they could be able to resolve the issue about the distribution of the shares.
Attending the meeting late, was going to be a negative impression, so he just could not risk it. Thankfully, he had like thirty minutes before 1pm as the meeting was starting by 1:05pm.
After hurriedly taking a bath, Oswald dressed up, did his hair and looked really good like a responsible son. Picking up his phone, he swiped it open and saw messages and missed calls from the girl he spent his night with.
"How did she get my number?", he said under his breath, "well I hope she understands it was a one time thing and nothing more", he murmured. Over the years, Oswald had developed a habit of having fun with just any girl, some of which he has no idea of their whereabouts after the whole experience. He was only concerned about the momentarily pleasure, also he was quick to give them money so they see it as a service offered and they go their various ways in peace.
Meanwhile, Jessie was in a mess thinking about the stupid things she may have muttered. She just hope she did not tell Charles that she really cared about him and wanted him so much.
"Please, you can just tell me. Instead of letting me go through this stress", Jessie said in resignation when she realized recalling the events was not helping matters as she was not totally conscious when she said whatever she had said.
"I want to cherish it as my memories. Am I not so lucky to be the only one to know such thing about you?", Charles grinned.
The tension that had rose in Jessie's body only doubled speedingly, that her breath hitched in her throat, sweatballs started forming on her forehead, with little trembles on her lips.
"Easy dear, it's just a little secret. I promise to not tell anyone", Charles added.
Luciana noticing the reactions on Jessie's body, quickly tugged Charles and made him stop his taunting. Jessie found it really hard controlling burst of emotions, making her get anxious most times and it wasn't a good thing to handle most of the times.
"Okay, I am sorry", Charles said, "Luciana.. you wanted to say something"
"Oh yeah, it's true. So about that...", Luciana chimed in. The tension that was growing in Jessie's body, died down as fast as it came and she eased up a little.
"You really will not believe what I saw last night", Luciana began.
"What happened?", It was Charles this time. The story Luciana was about saying, was already catching his attention, so he did not want to miss out on any detail.
"Jessie, you remembered when I left you last night after the Karaoke thing", Luciana asked Jessie making her blush as she remembered she had a very close conversation with Charles just before whatever happened that got her drunk.
"I do.... So what happened next?"
"As I left, I went to the restroom. Just as I was about leaving, I heard some erotic noise. Out of curiosity, I decided to see who it was, Lo and behold, it was Oswald deeply engrossed in the moment of pleasure he was receiving from another girl", Luciana said with a pinch of sarcasm in her voice.
Jessie had an indifferent expression on her face, but someone that looked deeply could see the information brought a low to her emotions. She was really not entitled to him, neither did she have the right to judge any of his actions. She just felt that nobody coming for her was sincere afterall, because it was the same party she even felt guilty for making Oswald sad, that he still made out with another girl. "Do people really talk about love without understanding it or her definitions of love was a gone tale", she asked herself.
Charles who paid a close attention to Jessie, noticed the change of mood and concluded that maybe she had a thing for him. He didn't like that she was affected by Oswald's actions but still couldn't blame it on her as he had not made his intentions known to her.
