Chapter 42: Aaarghh....

"You are awake, Alyssa," Jessie smiled as she moved closer to the bed Alyssa lay in. She decided to check for her immediately after she and Luciana went to school, and she did just that.
On getting there, the nurse told her that Alyssa had woken up in the middle of the night and slept back, that she should pray to be lucky to meet her awake, and as luck could have it, Jessie met Alyssa's eyes open, staring into the open ceiling as she made her way to her.
Luciana followed Jessie to the hospital to visit Alyssa, but she decided to check on another Doctor, so only Jessie moved to Alyssa's room.
Alyssa's eyes had little excitement on seeing Jessie, and it worried her.
"Alyssa," Jessie called out again, "Is anything bothering you?"
"Jessie," she managed to call out, still fighting off the pain that was burning within.
Jessie did not understand why Alyssa showed much discomfort talking to her, so she rushed to meet a nurse, informing her of all she felt was going on with Jessie. The nurse came and examined Alyssa, then told Jessie that she was fine, that she was still experiencing some pains even around her throat that was why she was finding it hard to talk. Jessie felt so terrible wondering about the exact pain Luciana was going through and trying to put herself in Luciana's shoes. It was terrible indeed and she just wished Luciana was going to get better soon.
Once the Nurse stepped out, Jessie turned her face to Alyssa and smiled widely as she walked over to her, trying to fight off the sad emotions she felt. Alyssa was not in any position good, so dwelling on her pain was only going to make her feel terrible.
"Alyssa dear, I brought some food for you, I hope you are strong to eat, if not I'll help you eat," Jessie laughed as she took the food pack and kept it on the side stool that was close to Luciana's bed head. She noticed Luciana trying to hold a burst of laughter and it increased the grin on Jessie's face.
Jessie's problem now was that behind the excitement Luciana was still trying to show, she could still detect the glint of sadness staying proudly in Luciana's eyes.
"Mmm...," Alyssa finally spoke up as she tried raising herself to Jessica, who moved towards her as quick as possible, to help lift her.
Amid rising Alyssa up a little, Jessie noticed Alyssa's phone that was on her lap, and she took it out, to place on the side stool. The phone accidentally went into Jessie's hands, and Jessie was greeted by the sight of disorganized pictures of Alyssa littered all over the internet.
She noticed a particular account, that was pushing the videos and pictures up, so it could trend. Videos captioned," the lead character in drama association goes unconscious, could it be that she has a terrible disease or the small audience was too hard for her to stand?"
Many captions like that and funny tags of Alyssa's pictures were there, it then dawned on Jessie why Alyssa was feeling sad even with all the efforts she had put to make her smile.
"Jessie...," Alyssa called out, as she tried reaching out to her phone that was with Jessie. She saw the plenty of expressions of anger that went on Jessie's face and the last thing she wanted was for Jessie to get angry at it.
Mrs. Jones stepped out of her car as she made her way to the entrance of the hospital, taking long strides as she tried to beat the time.
"Good morning," a nurse moved over to her as she was about to turn into the corridor that led to Alyssa's ward. She was with Alyssa during the early hours of the morning, but she decided to freshen up at home before coming back to see Alyssa, and she got a call that Alyssa had woken up, so she was quite enthused to see her daughter.
Mr. Jones, Alyssa's Father had gone for an urgent business meeting in the next city, just the day before Alyssa's incident, because of that, Mrs. Jones decided to keep it away from him as he had a habit of stressing about things.
"Good morning," Mrs. Jones replied, smiling at her, "how can I help you?"
"Ma.., " the nurse started, "the doctor in charge of your doctor said I should inform you to meet him once you come around. So that is why I am here."
"I hope there is no problem?" Mrs. Jones questioned, raising her brows in inquiry.
"I don't think there is any Ma," the nurse informed, "if you will excuse me," she said as she left Mrs. Jones standing in the corridor, in a way that was as though she was confused.
Alyssa was not the only child of Mrs. Jones but was the only girl out of the two children her mom had, so her mother cared so much about her. Mrs. Jones had a son, Alex, who was older than Alyssa. Alex currently did not stay with the Jones family as he was at opposite ends with them, so they were beginning to see Alyssa as the only child.
Mrs. Jones made her way to the doctor's office not too long after the nurse left, she had no idea what the problem was, but she hoped whatever it was, was a good thing.
She entered the doctor's office, and as luck will have it, he was just dismissing the person he was attending to, so she did not have to wait.
"Mrs. Jones, you are here. Good morning," the doctor greeted, as he motioned for her to take a seat just opposite him.
The office was beautifully painted white, with colorful stains of shining paint. The furniture placement there was like a typical doctor's office with the chairs and tables, some pieces of equipment around, a bed for patient's examination, and books and files clumped on a shelf.
Mrs. Jones noted out the interiors of the office as she made her way to the seat she was told to sit on.
After comfortably taking a position on one of the seats just opposite the doctor, "good morning. A nurse informed me that you asked to see me," Mrs. Jones said.
"Yes, Mrs. Jones, it's about your doctor, Alyssa," the doctor started, and the anxiety that Mrs. Jones felt began to rise a little, "there's nothing to worry about, she's currently fine. It's just she may experience some difficulties in her usual activities like talking, eating, and so many others as a result of the swells and how her body reacts with those allergens."
"But, it's she going to be fine?" Mrs. Jones interrupted, sounding somewhat impatient. The doctor was taking her through turns, and that wasn't what exactly she wanted to know. She was already getting pissed at the school, and all she wanted to know was whether Alyssa was going to be fine, then it will determine her next course of action.
"I'm excited to tell you that she will be, in a couple of days, she will be very okay, you won't even remember she had an experience. But I will advise she stay away from her various allergens in any way she can, so it doesn't turn into something else," the doctor concluded, giving a smile that was not as wide as the ones the nurses plastered on their faces every damn time.
Mrs. Jones took a few seconds to take in the information the doctor had disclosed before she gave a smile in return and excused herself.

At a corner at school, Sophie sat with Hazel feeling so excited about her achievement. She did not just deny Alyssa the lead role and got her hospitalized even though she did not expect it. She was also pushing funny videos and pictures of Alyssa to the internet, making her feel more embarrassed.
Usually, they were always people to dispute such posts, but the ones that had no first-hand information reacted to it mockingly and pushed the embarrassing posts further.
"I never knew this your idea was going to be this awesome," Sophie told Hazel who just sat there, smiling sheepishly.
"Mmhmm... I always come in with good ideas," Hazel praised, standing from where she sat, "and the timing was perfect."
"I'm with you on this one," Sophie acknowledged, nodding her head in agreement, stylishly.
"You are not scared that you may get caught?"
"Not anymore, I think we were careful enough. I just can't wait to see Alyssa's face fall in embarrassment. She thought Raymond could save it but..., tchick, tchick, tchick, I don't think he can," Sophie gritted her teeth, making funny sounds.
As they were still going on, talking about their silly achievements, and trying to feel great about making Alyssa go through that stress, Cassandra came out from nowhere precisely and they were startled at seeing her.
"Cassandra, you scared me, " Hazel said, after recovering from the fear she had experienced with Cassandra just appearing, as they had no idea she was close to them.
"Did you do something wrong that you are scared?" Cassandra inquired, sounding quite genuine.
Sophie got pissed off at Cassandra's question, and immediately spoke out, "so how is it your business?"
"Sophie chill, it's just an innocent question, " hazel stated, surprised at Sophie's outburst.
"Please do tell her," Cassandra added, rolling her eyes at Jessie.
Sophie's outburst was not necessary and sincerely Hazel did not get why she reacted that way. Her outburst was only going to put them out as the perpetrators and she was in no way ready for that.
"Well, I just came as a caring friend to check on you. You can always tell me if you do something wrong, maybe I can help out."
"Cassandra, like I said earlier, it's none of your business... It's your problem understanding the English?"
"Well, I'm sorry for stressing you, I just heard someone say evil always catches up with the defaulter, so I felt I could help. You know I care so much about you, I would not want it to catch up with you," Cassandra curved her lips upwards in a smile and left not long after talking to Sophie, swaying her waists in all directions as she walked away.
"Aaargh...," Sophie shrieked out, as she watched Cassandra walk away, "that girl only annoys me the more. I'm beginning to think she should have gotten the taste of embarrassment Alyssa is experiencing instead."
Sophie resolved she had to do something about Cassandra soon, instead of pretending everything was fine with them. As their name went, Sassy snitches, she was just going to be the snitch that will pull Cassandra's ego down, she thought.
Why Sophie was wallowing in the trouble she had in store for Cassandra, Hazel felt like Cassandra acted rather weird, and she was just going to sit and watch whatever was cooking, as long as she wasn't involved in any of their drama.
"Indeed, it is going to be fun," Hazel smiled internally, thinking about it.
