Chapter 39: Sophie's end is near 2
"Jessie not too much, please," Alyssa pleaded as she sat, letting Jessie dress her up. The makeup Jessie was applying on her face was becoming too much for Alyssa, as she was not a fan of heavy makeup. Jessie was not one too, but she wanted Alyssa to look her best, especially as she turned out to be her Makeup artist, and as Alyssa was playing the lead role.
Every person acting, usually came along with an extra hand. The extra hand helped with fixing their costumes and make-up, as the college only provided professional personnel during the main presentation there.
After Mr. Tom had finished discussing with her, Alyssa hurriedly moved to Jessica and went with her to the dressing room. The drama was to start in five minutes, and she was acting in the second scene, so she did everything possible to beat time.
Sophie, still bathing herself up in her glory, comfortably arranged herself, doing her make-up and styling her hair leisurely. She was just waiting for the very moment, the moment that Alyssa's face was going to fall, that moment that she was going to get satisfied with all the damages Alyssa had cost her. She was lost in her realm of fantasy, that she didn't realize Hazel had been tapping on her shoulders, trying to inform her that the drama had begun.
Alyssa was really nervous going on the stage, even as she did it quite often. Maybe, her fear this time was because of Sophie. Alyssa had acted in quite a number of dramas, but she never had to drag for positions. It always came to her, whatever role she wanted to act.
"Action," she heard the drama coordinator call out as the people acting in the first scene took the lead. She peeped through the curtains that demarcated the backstage from the stage and heard a voice as soon as she turned her head back inside.
"Ready to get your ass kicked out?" Sophie asked rhetorically, walking towards Alyssa with a smile.
Alyssa turned her face away from her, fighting the urge to not kick Sophie's ass and peel off the skin out of her face. The shrewd smile Sophie always put on, irked Alyssa, so she learnt to run her mind through wild imaginations, picturing the joy she could get from hurting Sophie, even as she never planned to.
"Do I smell fear?"Sophie asked dramatically, sniffing around Alyssa, "ooooh..., I forgot," she raised her palms to her head smacking it. "I forgot you are actually so horrified now, and seeing me take your place in the drama made you dumb, as it is obvious you can't reply anymore."
"Sophie, are you trying to get at me because you are jobless that you have no role yet?" Alyssa questioned, shaking her head, trying to understand what exactly Sophie's problem was.
"You know, just earlier I thought it was a mere fight for a guy that you could not get in anyway, as it is obvious you are not fit for even the least kind of friendship. But now, I'm certain it is more than that," Alyssa informed, giving a smile that showed concern, "if I was a doctor, I'll recommend a psychiatric session for you. Really, it will do you a lot of good."
Sophie's face darkened with Anger at Alyssa's words. Alyssa was good at degrading her with her words, not only did she steal the person she liked, but she also talked so less of her. If not that she had an ongoing plan to get rid of Alyssa, she will have just put up a fight with her as she fought so hard with herself to control the rage.
"Just relax," Sophie muttered under her breath then smiled at Alyssa.
"The fact that you think you belong to Raymond," Sophie started, choking with laughter at her words, "you know anything can happen anytime, who knows? "
Staring intently at Alyssa, "you should just be careful and watch your backs. I'm advising you because I care," she jabbered to Alyssa and winked before stepping out.
"Good one, next," Alyssa heard the drama coordinator call out and it brought her to the realization that it was her cue.
She stepped out to the stage smiling, and her eyes caught Jessie who waved at her from where she sat.
The scene she was to act was about a young girl who was the only princess in a royal family with its setting in the medieval age, in love with a low-rank knight. She took in deep breaths, assuring herself that she will be fine. After taking about the tenth one, Mr. Tom's call of "action," brought her back to the present.
"Milady, there's no way I can put you through such risk," the person playing the knight voiced out, in line with his role.
"But I want to...," Alyssa stopped in her speech, as her throat began to feel itchy. It was not just her throat, but her face too. In a split second, she was itching as though she was mad, blisters and swells began to form on her face.
"Alyssa," Jessie cooed out, as she ran to where Alyssa was.
Some people got confused and began to move over to where Alyssa was, while some others began to take photos. Sophie rushed over to where she was and made a video of Alyssa as quickly as she could.
It was not only the itching that disturbed Alyssa now, the flashes of lights that she felt all around her like she was some celebrity that had the paparazzi going all around her was frightening. Jessie could see the fear in Alyssa's face and had no idea of what to do.
Mr. Tom made a call to the school medical center and they sent some health workers to her, even as they advised the students to stay away from her. Jessie could not just leave Alyssa in all of it, so she stood beside her, notwithstanding.
The small blisters that began to form made Alyssa's face color red, and the uneasiness she felt strongly increased as though she was fighting for her life also.
The movement in the hall was so much, as people scampered up and down thinking of what to do, and before they knew it,
"Alyssa...," Jessie yelled, holding on to the unconscious body of Alyssa that had fallen on her.
