Chapter 48: Sophia Turner 1
Like it was believed, good moments don't always stay for long as it felt like there was a special time set to roll everything away. Was the problem about the moments lasting, or the fact that people get so engrossed in their lovin' moments that they forgot how time rolls? Could it still be, that the sad moments get so terrifying that every second counts and they want to be so done with it like it never happened?
Well, that was the case with Jessie, Alyssa and Luciana on various sides of Carlton city. They were so lost in their moments, every one of them.
Jessie could bet the time flew faster, as her day with Charles at the beach ended quite fast to her, even as the time from the clock showed that it was late. After they finished surfing, they quickly ate the food and snacks Charles brought along with him, then drove off to a Cinema to see a movie.
Alyssa had a good day with Raymond on her side, while on Luciana's side, every second she waited for the day to be over felt like hell.
Sunday came quite soon, and before the whole activities of the Sunday was over, it was no longer weekend, and the calendar had greeted them with Monday.
**************
Sophie made her way into Chelan college, walking with her heads up high and sniffing in the cool breeze of the morning. It was monday morning, which was usually tiresome. But unlike usual, she felt so good on this monday morning.
Sophie had spent her weekend causing more trouble for Alyssa on the internet, and hoped to arrive at school to see Alyssa moving her things out of her closet, and probably requesting a transcript to another school, so she could hide the shame Sophie might have caused her. But instead of that, the story began to seem different when she noticed a lot of eyes staring at her as she made her way in.
Not enjoying the stares she was getting, she quickly moved to the restroom, and checked the mirror to see if she was fine. Sophie was wearing denim shorts, with a black tank top, and a jean jacket on it. She wore raised sneakers to complement her dressing, and let her hair fall backward, with a band holding it at the front. The tote bag she carried had butterfly decorations all around, with her name imprinted at the center.
She observed herself closely through the mirror and did not see anything awkward with her dressing, so she got confused. Sophie turned around, trying to see herself, and when she concluded that there was nothing wrong with her, she decided to pick out her phone and called Hazel.
"Good morning, are you anywhere around school?" Sophie asked as soon as Hazel picked up the call.
Hazel who was at her home, trying to rush breakfast, and had a lot of food in her mouth, managed to muffle out a no. She hurriedly swallowed everything she had in her mouth and drank some water then returned to Sophie's call.
"I am still at home, is anything the problem?" Sophie that strangely was patiently waiting for Hazel to be done, heard the question being thrown at her and took her attention back to the call.
"It's nothing serious," she stated, "I was just walking inside the school, and the unnecessary glares I'm receiving are prickling on my skin. So I wanted to know if you were around, maybe you could check if something was wrong with me or see if you can hear the news flying about me now."
"Well, I haven't heard anything," Hazel said, sounding confused, "and I don't think it will be your dressing in any way."
"I don't think so too, "Sophie pouted.
"You should just go on with your activities, I'll be in school soon," Hazel nodded as she turned off the microwave that had the food she was heating up for her parents.
"Okay, I'll wait," Sophie announced and hung up.
She finally gathered enough courage to step out and moved to her locker.
Just as she got there, "Sophia Turner," a voice blared out from the microphone that was in the hallway, "you are needed at the Chancellor's office now."
Sophie was stunned when she heard the call. She had only been called to the Chancellor's office twice. One was when she was still sorting out her admission process, and the other, was when a student reported her for bullying which she easily slid away from what she was accused of, as the student had no proof.
Even as she was certain she had done something wrong to Alyssa which could be a possible reason why she was called to the Chancellor's office, her mind still tried blocking off the thoughts as she refused to believe that she had been caught. It then became clear to her, why she was being stared at. The call for her presence may have come in her absence, and the students might have been as surprised as she was.
In most cases, if the Chancellor was to request the presence of students, it usually meant two things. One of them was that the student had done exceedingly well in overall performances, and the other one was that the student had committed a huge crime. Because even the small crimes did not get up to the Chancellor, and nobody went to the Chancellor and escaped without a big punishment, except there was no proof to support it, like in the case where Sophie bullied the student.
The excitement she felt that morning as she walked through the hallway of Chelan began to turn to fear and sweat beads gathered on her forehead like droplets of rain were pouring on her.
Notwithstanding, she shoved her bag into her locker and went off to the Chancellor's office, walking graciously and with her heads held high.
"You are so jobless, I see," Sophie babbled out to a student who kept on staring at her, then rolled her eyes and continued walking towards the Chancellor's office.
The energy she used to yell at the student faded as soon as she was away from the unending gazes of the student, and was left alone in the foyer that went straight to the Chancellor's office.
"Good morning, Miss. Audrey," Sophie smiled as she met the woman who she believed was the secretary to the Chancellor. A name card was on the table which had Audrey on it, so Sophie assumed that it was her name.
"Hello, dear," Miss. Audrey smiled at her, "how can I help you?"
"I am Sophia..., Sophia Turner, I was asked to come to the Chancellor's office," Sophie explained to the Chancellor's secretary, trying to sound all cheerful.
"Oh...," Miss. Audrey said out, and a small frown appeared on her face, "just wait here, I'll inform the Chancellor." Miss. Audrey's hand directed Sophie to a large couch that lay perpendicularly to the table, and Sophie went to sit there, anticipating whatever stayed in wait for her.
After a few minutes of typing on the keyboard and occasionally taking glares at Sophia, Miss Audrey picked up the phone for the third time and dialed the Chancellor's number again. The previous times she tried, he was still not free to attend to visitors and Sophie had to wait. Strangely, she waited so patiently and meek as a dove.
"Miss. Sophia, you can go into the Chancellor's office now," the secretary said, staring at Sophie quickly and giving her a smile that happened as fast as a flash.
"Okay, thank you," Sophie said rising to her feet and inhaling a deep breath before she walked to the Chancellor's office.
