Chapter 10
Michelle
I fell right into his arms, his strong arms circled around mine in a tight hold. A yelp escaped my mouth at the contact, Vincent didn't move and neither did I.
I suddenly snapped back to reality and moved away from him as though his body and arm was hot lava that I needed to get away from.
His words from yesterday rang over and over again as I looked into his eyes. The tone he used and the expression on his face was everything I needed to know that I was all just in my head over him.
Vibcent cleared his throat, “Uh, I had no idea that you were in here." He said.
“I was cleaning." I replied and wanted to walk past him but was stopped with his hand holding my wrist and stopping me.
“Can I talk to you for some minutes?" He asked.
I yanked his hand off my wrist then crossed my hands over my chest after carefully resting the cleaning materials against the wall.
“I still need to clean other places and I need to do them before each person gets to their office."
“Isn't it just my office that you clean? When did you start cleaning other people's offices?" He asked.
“Well, I need the extra money." I answered simply.
"Okay, but I just need some minutes of your time.” He said.
He sent his secretary to call me yesterday but I didn't come. I told her that I'd join him soon and immediately she left, I went back to doing what I was doing.
"Okay.” I sighed.
Vincent didn't say any other thing, he walked over to his chair and sat down before it. I walked towards him after he had sat down.
“You can sit down." He said in a really boring voice.
I wonder what went up his *ss and died there, he's been acting really weird since yesterday.
“I'm okay this way."
“If you say so." He clicked his teeth.
I didn't say anything to that, I kept staring at him with an indifferent look on my face.
“About yesterday, I didn't mean to sound that way when I sent you out of my office. I was shocked to see you on my seat because I've gotten used to the exclusivity from this office over the years."
“However, I think you're doing a little bit too much with the familiarity. I didn't mean we were friends when I started treating you a little different from the other employees."
No word came out of my throat at first. I knew beforehand that he's outrightly rude, what he just said just drew me out of the daydreaming I've been soaked in when I was thinking he was different.
It was as though the mask that was on my face that made me see him in a different light was yanked off cruely.
“If that's all you want to say, I'd like to take my leave now." I muttered after some moments of silence.
“That’s all.”
I didn't wait for another second, I turned around and left his office immediately. I almost forgot the cleaning materials but went back to pick it up without sparing him a glance.
All through the way to the elevator, I couldn't concentrate and missed the road two times, my mind was in a huge disarray.
How could I have thought that the rude and merciless Vincent I've been hearing about could be any different from everything I've read in the news?
I'm just a fool to have started getting thoughts into my own head, he can never change.
My body suddenly collided with another which made me look up from intently looking at the floor but was forced to look up after the collision which was followed by a screech.
“Are you blin- oh, and if it isn't the infamous cleaner?” Before even seeing the face, I knew it was Valerie from the screeching.
“Sorry, I wasn't looking." I apologized and wanted to move past her but for the second time this morning, I got dragged back.
“Sure you weren't, what do I expect from the eyesight of someone who doesn't eat a balanced diet?”
“Do you have a problem with me? If you do, you're free to state them and stop going through corners." I said through gritted teeth.
She snorted then looked at me up and down, “Is there anything you think I should have a problem with you over?” There was an underlying motive behind that question and it's so obvious.
“No, if you'll excuse me, I have better things to do." I successfully walked away from her.
Is she the reason he was acting sus? Out of curiosity, I had checked her up one day and I found out about what really happened between she and Vincent.
Frustration edged up in me just thinking of everything.

“Hey, girl." A voice said behind me.
I looked back to see Evelyn behind me, “You're going home already?" She asked me.
I was packing up and getting ready to leave. “Hi, I'm almost done." I muttered.
"I'll just wait for you.” She said and rested her back against the wall.
"Thank you.”
I hastened up with what I was doing so she wouldn't have to wait for long. I put in everything from today in the huge plastic then locked it up.
I made sure I kept Vincent's key well like I do everyday.
“I'm done." I said to Evelyn, smoothing out my clothes.
"Okay then, let's go.” She smiled, putting away her phone.
We both walked out of the office building, just talking about random things. Evelyn is a really friendly person and kept the conversation going till we got all the way to her car.
“There. My baby." She cooed when we got to her car. I've seen people obsessed with their cars, but hers seemed to be even more.
She opened the driver's seat and got in while I opened the passenger's seat door.
Just before I got into the car fully, I saw Vincent and Valerie by a black car, she was standing by the door, saying something while his back faced me.
