Chapter 39
**Michelle**
I ran into his toilet immediately after the doctor hung up the phone. I saw his handkerchief on his table and I soaked it in cold water.
I went to sit beside him and placed the wet handkerchief on his forehead. I dabbed off the sweat on his forehead, I repeated the process a lot of times before going to get the clothes wet again.
It was already scorching hot again as though I dipped it in hot water before.
My grandmother used to do this for me when I was a kid and had a fever. I smiled bitterly as I remembered her. She died months after my brother died.
That was the worst year of my life, losing two important people in my life felt like my whole world was coming down on me.
I went back into the room and placed the handkerchief on his forehead. I didn't move it like before, I just left it there to regulate his temperature.
A knock came on the office's door. Knowing it was the doctor, I walked out to open the door. Liam came in behind him too with a frown on his face.
“What are you doing here and where is Vincent?" Liam asked.
"He's in there, he's really sick.” I said to both him and the doctor.
Liam's frown deepened but that's none of my problems now. I led the doctor to the room and everyone got in.
“You both need to stay outside while I treat him." The doctor said, bringing out his equipment.
Liam and I stepped out of the room, locking the door behind us.
“When did you even come in?" Liam asked, looking at me with his eyes set in deep concentration.
“You weren't in your cubicle then.” I answered plainly.
There was an uncomfortable silence between us before the ringing of a phone broke it.
My phone was ringing and it wasn't with me. It's somewhere in this office. I must have dropped it when I was trying to move Vincent.
I saw it on the table, ringing away. Evelyn's name was displayed on the screen.
Sh*t! I completely forgot that we were meant to meet up for lunch. Lunch was over thirty minutes ago and she has called me ten times while I was with Vincent.
I swiped up to accept the call, “Where have you been?!" She yelled so loud that I had to keep the phone away from my ears.
“I’m really sorry, Evelyn. An emergency came up and I forgot to inform you.” I replied as I put the phone next to my ear once more.
"What emergency?" She asked.
“I- I can't talk about that now. How about after work?” I replied.
"Fine. But are you okay?I was really worried when you didn't pick up your calls and you didn't show up either.” She said,
“I'm totally fine. I'll talk to you later, bye!" I blew a kiss to her on the phone then hung up before she could ask me any more questions.
“You know, I'm forced to believe that there's something going on between you and Vincent.” I turned around to see Liam still resting by the wall.
“What?” I frowned.
"The signs are there, there's really something between you two and it's so obvious. I've known it since the first day I started working here and you wanted to enter his office without knocking.” He expatiates.
“Look, what you should be thinking about is his health and not some analogy you've got up in your head that's so not true.”
“Right, we'll get back to that." He mumbled.
I didn't say anything else to him. He's just too funny to think there would ever be something between us or that there is something between us.
The door was soon opened and the doctor came out. I rushed to him immediately, “How is he now?" I asked him.
“He's okay now, he just needs to rest a lot, like he should have since yesterday. The wet cloth you placed on his forehead helped a lot too, as the headache might have resulted in concussion if you hadn't done that." He explained.
I heaved a sigh of relief, hearing that he only needed to rest after everything that happened this afternoon was a huge relief.
“Are you close to him enough to make sure he takes his medication?” He asked, looking between Liam and I.
I don't live with him so that's directly impossible so I shook my head but Liam beat me to it.
“Yes, she'll make sure he takes it.” He replied to the doctor, shaking hands with the doctor and they both walked out of the room, Liam looked back and smirked at me, that traitor.
I sighed and walked back into the room where Vincent was laid. He was sleeping soundly on the bed with his shirt and suit taken off.
The only thing on his chest was a light singlet, I could see his ripped muscles underneath the light clothing. My throat bobbed up and down visibly and I tried to compose myself.
There was a paper beside the bed, it was a prescription of drugs. The doctor didn't say anything about the drugs being gotten, I wonder why.
I looked at Vincent's face and touched his forehead to see that it was now almost back to normal. Instead of the scorching hot temperature, it was warm and his face was relaxed.
He looks so peaceful and completely different while asleep, nothing like the cold man who prowls around while awake.
His eyelashes were so long that I was left wondering how a man's brows could be as long as a female's, even longer than mine.
I looked at his face like a creep for some minutes without breaking my gaze.
“You're going to get more creepy if you keep looking at me that way.”
I jolted upright when the sudden voice broke me out of the reverie I was lost in. Vincent was looking into my eyes directly.
